The first official stills are out for drama adaptation of Ding Mo‘s first thriller, When A Snail Falls In Love (如果蜗牛有爱情), and it’s a surprise, at least for me. I haven’t seen Nick looking so fierce and intense before (granted, I haven’t watched his series…) Lol. He plays a policeman, considered as the ideal man at the police station, and Wang Zi Wen plays a highly intelligent and practical criminal psychologist. He’s in charge of guiding and mentoring her when she first came to the force, prompting the start of their solid romance.

My previously high interest in this drama is now tempered with a lot of caution, since I had such high expectations for “Love Me if You Dare” as a Shandong production, but the script ended up a complete fail at properly developing the central love story. How can the drama adaptation of a romance novel be so lacking in romance?

seems good but seriously… i didnt enjoy their love story in Ode to joy soooo, just be good here. Wang Kai looks as hawt as always <3
havent read this novel, or.. perhaps i did read one or two chapter, but i forget… but this one sounds like LMIYD. i read LMIYD while watching the drama version, so perhaps i wasn't as disappointed as other people who read the novel first before watching the drama.
sooo, to avoid any disappointment, i've chosen to not read the novel yet and just watch this one first, hehe. hope this method will work well for me 😛

LMIYD is awful both in novel and drama.
I had a look at this Snail novel and I absolutely hated it. OMG how does this shit even get published. But anyway.
Meh don’t put your hopes too high on Shanying. Once they got famous with Nirvana/Disguiser, they stopped giving a shit about quality and is just coasting on fame to get money.

Ugh that hairstyle of Wang Ziwen’s!!!!!!!! It needs to go.. It honestly makes her look older than Wang Kai! I didn’t like it already when I saw that hairstyle on Ode to Joy,makes her look so old among those girls!!

Hope this is good! I generally liked the part I read of the book, and I love Nick and Wang Zi We. Granted I didn’t really enjoy their couple dynamic in Ode, but I think that was an issue with character development; they were both great actors.
And Kap! What do ya mean you haven’t watched any of Nick’s works. Not even Nirvana? Disguiser? At least Nirvana? T.T You’re missing out. You should take a break and watch some of these yourself.

Nick’s acting is better in Disguiser than in Nirvana, although Nirvana is the drama that made him famous.
On the whole, the acting in Disguiser is better than in Nirvana, but Nirvana got more accolades because it’s an idol period and looks better than Disguiser.

I miss Wang Zi Wen with long hair. But this is exactly how I’d imagined Xu Xu, her character. Lol.

I hated both of those 2 lead character in Ode.. especially WangZi’s voice (It is very annoying).
Looking at these photo though….Nick is very tempting me to give it a try ….but looking at WangZi makes me want to scream away! I’m conflicted!!!

Her character here is a complete opposite from Qu Xiaoxiao in Ode to Joy. I think you’ll be surprised at how different they are.

I’ve read Volume 1/first half of the novel. It’s quite interesting. Trying to keep my expectations low though cos LMIYD was very disappointing =_= Wang Zi Wen isn’t who I wanted as Xu Xu but she definitely looks the part.

They should’ve gotten Song Yi (Yu Manli from Disguiser) as the female lead but oh well, I have no hope in Shanying casting these days. Many netizens/audiences were nominating Song Yi but it’s not Shanying cares anymore cuz they’re a big shot company now so who cares about netizens/audiences, right?

Nah, it wouldn’t have worked out with Song Yi anyway since she signed early on to be in Zhang Han’s drama. Although I do think she will participate in their future series again since she was well-received in Disguiser.
Wang Zi Wen…I’m not a big fan of hers, though I enjoy her older series with Huang Xuan. Now that was a sight to see. They lit up the screen. Not sure what happened since then or why she suddenly used such an annoying voice in OtJ but she doesn’t normally sound like that. At least back then.

I think it’s a combination of LMIYD and Ode to Joy, really. After Disguiser and Nirvana, both decent (not the best, but decent enough) dramas that were like a breath of fresh air after many shit dramas, I thought that finally we have a decent production company that actually gives a shit about their work, but then I saw the shit that was LMIYD and the even worse rotting cesspool that is Ode to Joy, and it seriously killed any love I have for them.
Their sexism alone is enough to put them on my shitlist for life, but that aside, speaking from just production quality, it’s like they peaked with Disguiser and Nirvana and now they’re just coasting on their fame and money (and a good cast) with shitty scripts and sloppy productions.

LOL yeah I knew Song Yi wasn’t gonna be in this cuz of her commitments to other productions, but at least they could’ve gotten another girl (the actress who played Guanguan, maybe? She’s contracted with Shanying anyway, so why not use her?) instead of Wang Ziwen whose voice alone (and I didn’t see any good acting from her either) is enough to turn me off.
