Taiwan to remake It Started With A Kiss with Dino Lee

What is the appeal of this story anyway? Everyone chases to make their own adaptation. No one can appear as clueless as Ariel Lin, feel as spunky as Jung So Min, and look as adorable as Honoka Miki. The girl is the heart of the series and I find myself not as drawn to the female lead as the past versions. Playing the ultimate high IQ robot boy is Dino Lee and you might remember him in the hit movie Our Times as the perfect handsome student. His loyal, dim ladylove will be played by Esther Wu. Nope, I have nothing concrete about this young actress. *shrugs*

Press Conference:

Mom, Dino Lee, Esther Wu, Xi Wei Lun, Gong Yi Teng, Dad.

“What is the appeal of this story anyway?” I ask myself the very same thing now. I remember my first time watching the Taiwanese version when I was in middle school and I was so hooked onto it. I also enjoyed the sequel as well. But over a decade later, I find this story utterly ridiculous and immature lol. Remembering the way Ariel acted really makes me cringe because I really cannot stand characters like the one she portrayed anymore. Her character was too naive to believe and practically brain dead save for some basic life skills like knowing how to eat, talk, and walk. She was so dedicated to Joe’s character that it was pitiful really. I sound harsh right now I know lol but I think I’ve just become too old for dramas like this u_u

I never liked it though. Always thought the story was pretty crap.

i cannot take his name seriously, for such a handsome dude, im reminded of a rhino every time. lols.

she looks cute but lacks the charm from the previous version for now. maybe she will knock our breath away with her acting?

i don’t understand the appeal of this drama either, it’s been done to death in sheeps clothing. seldom are the girls in dramaland smart anyway….

frea, you’re killing me with the Dino the Rhino. XD

It’s like how I always think of bricks when I see Lego Li.

Too soon for a remake. I just finished watching the Thai version too..

Looks like to me the scriptwriters got too lazy to come up with original stories and decided to just remake a drama by tweaking some things here and there. Taking the easy way out again.

I actually cringed when I saw this. What the heck? Why remake for the same country?! the original version was the best and in my opinion, the best of ALL the adaptations, including the anime.

Never liked the drama. Couldn’t even finish an episode back when it first aired and gained major momentum. I thought it was the most utterly degrading and meaningless series at the time. Friends who did like it thought I was harsh or “didn’t understand the brain-dead entertainment value” of the drama. “It’s meant for easy-viewing,” they said. Well, like nine versions of the same drama later, I still don’t understand the hype and haven’t been able to finish one.

Not to mention, superficially I didn’t think Ariel Lin was easy on the eyes. I don’t care how great her acting skills are/were, she was just not my cup of tea and her character compounded that issue. It was unbearable watching her do anything in the drama – it wasn’t cute; it was dumb. Plain and simple.

Guess I was a TV snob even back then.

ISWAK is one of my fav TW dramas (have rewatched it sooo many times over the years!). Survived ISWAK 2 cos of Ariel. But LOL I don’t think I can handle watching these type of dramas nowadays.

I think we should respect each other’s opinions about Arjoe. For me, other people may think it’s crap but it has a lesson to teach us all. A lesson to reach for your dreams even though it might be impossible to reach it. xiang Qin is like that, not only applicable to love but as you can see she has a caring, sweet and charming attitude although she might be dumb. If you search for the brighter side of ISWAK 1 and 2 it has many things to teach us not only when it comes to love but to practical things like not giving up easily. I would say no to remake, the original version of this Taiwanese drama is still the best. They should fil for Isawk 3 instead. #WeWantIswak3

My favorite is the Thai version. It’s the only one I managed to finish. I think it’s because they made the male lead more likeable. In all the other ones I thought the guy was just downright mean.

No interest in this remake whatsoever. I don’t find the cast attractive one bit. My fave is the current Japanese version.

Well I hope they don’t have a stupid ending like the original Taiwan version did Joe in a wedding dress and Ariel in a tuxedo, that was just total nonsense and spoiled the finale of the couple getting married.

well…watched all the version and my favorite are still Japan adaptation of it ItaKiss:love in Tokyo. I thought it had the right amount of comic and romance. Although must omit the 2nd season of it, it was romantic but the cute magical element was not there anymore, I think maybe because the director got changed to male and he toned down all the vibrant adorable cutesy color that season 1 had. ISWAK was good and the chemistry was perfect but too long of a story make for a boring one. Korean version…hmmm I simply dislike Baek Seung Jo’s portrayal. He’s not mean or anything, he’s just pure deadpan. You cant feel any emotion coming from the character. Thai version was the least that I like. Well considering how I loved Mike-Aom tandem in Full House it ought to mean something when I dont like them both in Kiss thai. They changed the story too much from the original one. And yeah its good when your male lead is more likable and less meaner, but that was the essence of true story, how stoic and mean Naoki was. And if you play the right amount of both, Naoki can be an endearing character (which thankfully I got one from Furukawa Yuki portrayal of Naoki in season 1). This new version…well I thought Dino look too bubbly that he could even pass as Kotoko, no joking! and the female lead, well lets just say I didnt get the vibe of Kotoko from her no matter how hard I tried to look for one.
