Alan Yu to headline Xuan Yuan Sword 4: The Clouds of Han

Xuan-Yuan Sword Legend: The Clouds of Han (軒轅劍外傳:漢之雲) has been in planning for a while, with plenty of names attached, from Hu Ge to Yang Yang, and now Alan Yu Meng Long (Go Princess Go) is the latest contender up for the lead role. Filming to begin in June and by then, he would’ve wrapped up his scenes for Yang Mi’s Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms. And yes! This is his first lead role and in a big production no less. Congrats 9th Prince! The other live adaptation of this game franchise was Hu Ge’s Xuan Yuan Sword 3 Tales: The Scar of the Sky. The second good news: tree-climbing crab – Fiction Guo Jun Chen is also offered a role. The boys of Go Princess Go reunite! They say they’re trying to nap Peter Sheng too. But we’ll see.

Synopsis from Wiki: The game is set in the era of the Three Kingdoms, Wei, Shu and Wu and feature famous historic figures. Zhuge Liang, the chancellor of the kingdom of Shu had engaged on multiple northward military expeditions with little success. On Zhuge Liang’s Third Expedition, a secret military group called “Fei Yu” (飛羽), meaning Flying Feather, deriving its name from the two famous generals of Shu kingdom – Zhang Fei and his sworn elder brother Guan Yu), carried out various missions in the war to further the interests of Shu. However, on the Fourth Expedition, thanks to its own group of powerful secret operatives, Wei was able to discover and exploit critical weaknesses of Shu, prompting The Feathers to take action. The game addresses issues of loyalty and duty, as well as the harsh realities of warfare and peace.

The above is pretty much the big picture of the storyline. Lol.

I did a little digging myself to clear up some plot points. Our male lead is Yan Feng (his alias), leader of one branch of the secret military group, Fei Yu, a group of highly skilled individuals with the mission to protect and aid Shu State against the attacks of Sima Yi. He’s a capable, kind, and humble leader who doesn’t like to kill. Female lead is Heng Ai – beautiful and intelligent, she’s considered as a mysterious woman. I’m confused at her powers. She slays demons and captures them to make weapons? Anyone here who has played the game before?

I have no idea what this is about but I am excited for Alan and Fiction. If they could get Peter on board, even better!

Lol crazy. But the plotline sounds way better than Rift in Sky. I remember 2011/2012, I was so anticipating Xuan Yuan 3. I followed all the promos and bts and still and fancams and even delved into gaming forums in preparation. I sticked with it all through its various broadcast-date-pushbacks. I was so excited following the trailer too (it was one of the first of its kind – the 30 min long entire-plot-reveal type). And then I started watching it and couldn’t make it past the first 5 eps. Probably not even. Regardless I gave up on it, attempted to skip and skim through the end, and still hated it. I have to say, Hu Ge was fine IMO, and it was one of Tang Yan’s decent character portrayals. But in general I was SO SO disappointed. Esp since it was Hu Ge’s production too! So so sad.

BUT the storyline here sounds so much cooler! I really hope this is an improvement. At least let it be better than CP5. God that trailer for CP5, Elvis’s styling? Foreboding to say the least.
