Taekwondo Girl Season 2 confirms Ji Chang Wook, An Yue Xi

Looks like Ji Chang Wook isn’t returning to Korean audience anytime soon. He is now playing the lead in season 2 of Taekwondo/Tornado Girl (旋风少女第二季) opposite Tang Bao! Yep, Hua Qian Gu’s daughter, An Yue Xi, snatches herself a lead role. Congratulations! Booting ceremony is held today to meet the young cast. The synopsis is not revealed yet so stay tuned for that. Now let me finish gathering photos for another ceremony… Lol…

Ji Chang Wook. At least we are rest assured Wookie is good with action scenes!

Still excited for Season 2, but still sad about the cast change in Yang Yang, Hu Bing Qing, and Wu Lei. T.T Excited that a lot of the supporting cast is the same though!

They killed off Yang Yang’s character in the sequel (WTF LOL they just totally changed the book ending) and I’m a bit surprised at the big cast change. Hu Bingqing didn’t impress me so I don’t care if they change her to Tang Bao (apparently Tang Bao has a dance background and her physicality impressed the casting directors).

I’m gonna miss Wu Lei though cuz that was the first time I saw him (even before Nirvana) and he totally impressed me there. Actually he was a scene stealer cuz I went in to watch the first season for Yang Yang yet my attention was constantly caught by Wu Lei. Same deal with Seven Tan who played the main girl’s best friend – she was AWESOME 🙂

I’m a bit (O_O) at them killing off Yang Yang’s character since I really liked Ruo Bai’s character in the novel (and YY did a good job of him in the series). Normally I’d be chucking a shit at the fact that YET ANOTHER lead role got snatched up by a K-actor when it should’ve gone to a C-actor, but Ji Chang Wook is just such an earnest, nice guy and dedicated to his acting that he’s one of the few K-stars that I quite like, so I can’t work up my usual ire LOL

also Ji Chang Wook has good physical skills (having had previous athletic/martial arts training) so I can’t fault them for picking him…

I hear Yang Yang and Hu Bing Qing did not want to be in the sequel. Otherwise, they would have made time in their schedule, because it was pretty clear at the end of show that the original leads were wanted back for season 2. But if they don’t want to, nothing we can do right?

Apparently Ji Chang Wook isn’t replacing anyone. His role is a new role. Also Leo Wu (WU LEI) will be back for the Season 2 – which is good. Guo Chen is playing a different role too.

Also I have to add, that I read that they are not killing off Yang Yang’s character. I heard he is in another project, but might have a little time to cameo.

I agree, I want Ji Chang Wook in a korean drama – because the international fans can see him more easily in a korean drama than a chinese drama. Just less options for viewing chinese dramas internationally unless you are totally fluent.

dont get me wrong i like ji chang wook ever since warrior baek dong soo but he should’ve returned to korea. fans missed him over there! plus, the whole korean leading isn’t gelling me well these days.

tang bao looks really mature in modern clothing.

I liked Season 1 as well… watched it for YY but it ended up being the kind of show that’s – hey this isn’t so bad after all. It’s a drama about working hard for your dreams.

Too bad… all the leads are changed.

I love Ji Chang Wook and everything about him, but yea the whole Korean stars taking up lead roles in C-drama trend is starting to get a lil out of hand.

Agree. So tired of seeing Korean actors taking up roles in China, as if China doesn’t have enough people to fill these spots. Instead of giving opportunity for their own newbie actors, why give roles to foreigner actors that can’t even speak the language. I don’t understand what these Chinese’s production are thinking. I guess the idea of riding with the hallyu wave has blind them.

I do like Ji Chang Wook, btw lol but I think he should stay in Korea same goes with many of his fellow Korean actors.

Maybe using a K-actor or 2 helps them sell the series to Korea and makes them a lot more money? Plus bring extra audience members. K-actor fans. Producers do whatever they think will bring them the most money. I have only seen 1 mixed-cast series and some trailers. It is hard to blend the “odd one out” (OOO) into the cast. Even when I don’t know the actors, I can usually tell who the OOO is pretty quickly.
