When your name is attached to a project for many months, chances are you will be in it. Unfortunately, playing the other male lead isn’t Zhu Yi Long as he accepted the role in Zhang Han’s The Rhapsody Of A Summer Dream. Maybe he can do both? We’ll see. Still waiting for the official confirmation but Zhao Li Ying and Lin Geng Xin just followed each other on weibo and that’s enough of an indication of their collaboration in the upcoming drama adaptation of 11 Chu Te Gong Huang Fei written by Xiao Xiang Dong Er. Li Ying’s participation went rowdy since July of last year and I’m still agape that they couldn’t land a male lead for so many months because all the potential candidates are busy with projects. Now that she’s done with New Eternal Wave, our girl has focused all her energy to The Legend of Chusen. The filming for Chu Qiao begins in late April, if all goes well.
Do I like them together? Well… I pictured a different couple but that is beside the point now.
Synopsis that I wrote a year ago with minor edits, haven’t gone back to the novel since then (time-traveling element is removed, as always): The story takes place during the chaotic times of Western Wei, where innocent citizens are often kidnapped and turned into slaves. Slave girl, Chu Qiao (Zhao Li Ying) is thrown into a forest and becomes the next hunting target for the rich lords. She’s saved by the Prince of Northern Wei, Yan Xun (male lead, she loves him first). Afterwards, she’s sold into the house of Zhuge and witnesses the deaths of her siblings. Not accepting her fate, Chu Qiao escapes the dungeon with her younger sister and catch the attention of Zhuge Yue (second male lead but she loves him last), who was also in charge of taking the lives of some of her family members (dang…). He takes care of her and trains her in various things while she develops a deep friendship with Yan Xun over the course of 10 years. During the battle with Western Wei, Yan Xun loses his whole family and Chu Qiao is willing to die to save him and sends him back to his court. However, after that incident, Yan Xun grows ambitious and cruel to avenge for the things and people he lost. He doubts Chu Qiao and takes advantages of her loyalty and love many times before she finally explodes. Disappointed with the man she once loved, Chu Qiao works with Zhuge Yue to bring him down and end slavery, becoming a successful military strategist/female general in the people’s hearts.

– Zhuge Yue: cold outside, warm inside, willing to give up power and the world for love
So yes, in this story, the female lead ends up with the second male lead. Will that change for the drama? *shrugs*. Baidu listed Gen Xin as Zhuge Yue (for now). Looking forward to the list of princes and royal members falling for the heroine, because in this case, it’s awesome because she’s awesome! Unlike Flower….

I wish Yi Long had taken up this role instead. He looks simply dashing in ancient costume. In modern dramas…he just loves his fringe too much to give it up for dramas. LOL.

Excited for this because there is ZLY and it’s an ancient drama with the female lead ending up with the 2nd male lead, quite new for me~
Can’t really picture LGX for a character like the 2nd male lead but yay to seeing him on screen again!!!
Sigh about the character of the male lead, he reminds me of those 反派 supporting male leads…

It’s good to know that the drama script has been in the works by the author for four years. The thing I like most is that she doesn’t end up with the male lead, that there is a transition in her feelings when she realizes the man she loved is not who he said he is!

Who is the second male lead for this movie? Anyone famous? Is she on any other project apart from this one? I saw her on a photo shoot with HXM and they looked great. Was it for a film or…?
