Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Before you jump in happiness, let me clarify that Ken Chang (The Lost Tomb) and Alan Yu (Go Princess Go) are joining the drama version of Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms, the fantasy novel written by Tang Qi Gong Zi. Confused? Yes, there is movie version with Liu Yi Fei and Yang Yang too (very useful post with many tidbits from the story by book fans). Playing the leads of the drama version are Yang Mi and Mark Zhao, as previously stated. The story depicts the tragic love story between two immortals, a high goddess and a Crown Prince. They will meet again for the second time, hoping for a better ending this time around. Lots of angst and crazy things…

But…so pretty…

First Posters:

The drama version is gonna have many many characters so if I get mixed up with the characters, please let me know in a gentle way. ๐Ÿ™‚

Ken Chang is playing Zhe Yan. A powerful immortal who is friends with the female lead… That’s all I know. Feel to update me. Lol. Miss lenje, are you happy dancing? ๐Ÿ˜€ (Side note: Did they visit Bai Zi Hua’s closet to get these costumes and hair?!)

I’m happy 9th Prince is getting more roles. Alan Yu Meng Long will play Bai Zhen. Female lead’s older 4th brother.

The drama is being directed by Lin Yu Fen (The Journey of Flower, WuXin๏ผš The Monster Killer), Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms plans to have 50 episodes. Filming is still ongoing. A lot more names are revealed but I’ll post them as their official pictures are released.

Kap, how do you know about the dancing? You must’ve had a sixth sense. LOL. I almost jumped out of my chair when I read the new post title! :)))

This is a double treat! Not only finally we will get the underrated, good-looking and multilinguist Ken Chang, but he will be in the same drama with the beautiful Prince 9! (Still think he’s better looking than Crown Prince). Thank youuuuuuu!!! Looking forward to the drama!

I remember your confession that you love Ken! Lol.

I think Peter has more proportional features while Alan has a more oval face shape (same as mine!). But he’s prettier…for sure… hehe.

You’re the best, Kap! Sending you cookies and fat cakes!

man, i really do not like that hairstyle…. kind lazy? LOL. hair pulled back like that looks really old on some actors. ken chang looks much older too. (the Bai Zi hua’s comment, haha)

9th prince looks amazing in the hairstyle though. expected that since he looks really handsome in go princess go.

  3. 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Kap, not only they pulled apart Bai Zi Hua’s wardrobe, they probably visited his hairstylist as well. The only ‘improvement’ they made to his wardrobe is adding some colour to it instead of the monochrome white that BZH prefers. I reckon BZH doesn’t look good at night. He’ll scare a lot of ppl going out at night – prancing and flying around on a CGI sword in all white with his long heavily conditioned and perm-straightened hair floating around!

I don’t know about pink on a guy though my hubby insists that when a guy wears pink, it’s not pink. It’s salmon-coloured! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ninth prince looks cute as usual. Will he get his very own Yang Yan in this drama? Or maybe it’s a buddy eunuch this time around (if he is acting as royalty)? At least he’s improved in terms of birth ranking – from 9th to 4th. Hopefully one day, he gets to be No. 1 – the lead! ๐Ÿ™‚

Unrelated but Kap, since you’re such a big Zhao Liying fan, have you seen the newest character posters for her Biyao in Zhuxian?

She has 4 different looks and actually the one with the bangs is the best one! ๐Ÿ™‚ They made her bangs lighter and more wispier (like I hoped they would) and it’s actually the cutest look out of the 4

    • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Wait where did you see the pics? I haven’t been able to find them.

      • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

They were posted on the official weibo of the series + and ZLY’s weibo

Now I’m just waiting for Li Yifeng’s ones, cuz pretty much EVERYONE’s been “officially” announced via character posters EXCEPT for our main character Xiaofan/Guili! WTF!

      • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Hopefully you can see the pics now ๐Ÿ™‚

I like the one with the bangs the best cuz I think it’s the cutest

        • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Haha I also like the one with bangs. Actually, I think her non-bang hair (the two pics where she’s got the twisting metal piece) is elegant and nice, but I think it’s ruined by the unnecessary twisty hair extension. Like, I’m really confused about recent tall-hair-protrusion trends in period dramas. Is that a thing? Like, for example, in Xiong Nai Jin’s pic (one of the 4 guards with the veil who protects/takes care of Bi Yao), I LOVE her hair styling, with the half-up do, the small hair ornaments, but I TOTALLY don’t see the point in that wiggly worm extending from the top of her hair. It’s unnecessary and really doesn’t add much. So hence, while I’m not a fan of, nor do I hate, bangs, I do like her bang-hair the most cuz it’s simple and cute, yet it’s more complex than a lazy half-up do BZH-style (which apparently is frequently used on both girls and guys, for girls, usually accompanied by a tall-sometimes-lopsided-or-windy hair protrusion — see Viann’s hair in that upcoming drama with Zhu Yi Long)

That said, I really like ZLY’s outfits in her non-bang photos. I think the two outfits (the sky blue and the pink-blue) are super super elegant, and I think the layered, pseudo-high collar with the “overcoat”-esque robe thing is really sophisticated and makes her look less like some wandering jianghu girl and more like the daughter of the Demon Lord.

        • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

LOL Juli, your complaint about “hair protrusions” is one of the most popular complaints by audiences about period drama styling! It’s true though that period ladies of China had elaborate buns so I guess those hair protrusions are just stylists’ fancier renditions based on historical pictures. However IIRC the historical hair buns were less “worm-like” and more “bun-like”, but maybe the stylists wanted to distinguish all the different ladies so they made all the girls have different shaped hair buns…?

        • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Haha shimo, maybe. It’s less that they’re buns. they’re not really buns. It just bugs me that they’re so tall and pointy and sometimes really strangely twisty! It’s just really strange and yeah. I forgot which post it was…it was a recent one with a viann cameo still I think? Did you see her hair? It wasn’t pointy or twisty, but dang was it horrendously lopsided! Maybe they’re trying to be creative or original, but can’t it be more symmetric or aesthetically pleasing at least? Some people (LiYing, darling) can pull it off, but regardless it’s just…really not the best route to go. Buns are one thing. Horns are another.

Poor LYF’s announcing himself on weibo cuz the official weibo won’t announce him hahahaha

Now tell me if this doesn’t remind you of Anakin Skywalker!!!

        • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Haha so true. Honestly despite the failure that was the first three eps of the later StarWars films (the Anakin storyline), Anakin Skywalker’s actually my fav character. So watching eps 4-6, while I loved Han Solo and Chewie too much to hope the good guys lost, I definitely found myself frequently rooting for Darth Vader.

I did but I was in the middle of sleeping. Lol. xD

  5. 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Ken is a favorite of mine. I haven’t found a hairstyle of his that I don’t like.

Alan looks much better here tbh. But nothing beats him in real life. Jiu Wang for some reason didn’t appeal to me lol. At least not his style there.

    • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

I like Ken too! Not only does he look good he is also a great actor! ๐Ÿ™‚

He was so good in Ancient Sword (very cool!) and I really loved his acting in Legend of Fragrance! He played a dastardly villain there but I actually didn’t hate him at all. Now that’s pretty awesome.

      • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

I haven’t caught up with his recent works to be honest. Not a big fan of xianxia, unless we’re talking about Chinese Paladin lol.

But I really, really liked him in Chu Liu Xiang. He played the role so well that I was able to wipe away the memory of Adam Cheng in that same garb, haha.

All he needs is a breakthrough role and he’ll finally be in the spotlight.

        • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Speaking of Chu Liuxiang, I dunno if it’s just me but Ken kind of reminds me of Adam Cheng when in period garb. Not saying that he LOOKS exactly like him but he has a similar feel/aura as Adam’s Chu Liuxiang…

        • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

I used to think they were brothers!

        • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

That probably explains why I’ve replaced Adam with Ken. Lol.

Kap, I’m going to think of what you said every time I see Adam now! XD

        • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

@ Kap: LOL! But yeah, they could’ve played brothers and it’d be no problem! Just like Yuan Hong and Wang Kai! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Also I think Alan is looking great here, and better than his look in Go Princess Go (which is understandable cuz this one is a much higher budget production).

TBH I didn’t really like the lead guy in Go Princess Go but I liked Alan’s 9 Wang much more instead! I actually felt sorry for him when he got exiled and Pengpeng wouldn’t see him off!

      • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

and it could be due to the Photoshop and camera angle, but that first poster of Alan with the 3/4 face looks like a young slim version of Lu Yi! ๐Ÿ™‚

        • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

In that pic, because he’s biting the leaf, it puts his jaw in a position that makes his face-shape and structure look REALLY like Lu Yi for me. But at the same time, his eyebrows make me think of Huang Ming (Boss&Me, Legend of Fragrance)

        • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Oooh I see what you mean now that you mentioned it! ๐Ÿ™‚

      • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Alan reminds me of Hawick. I think it’s the lips. He is better looking than Hawick in my book. ๐Ÿ™‚

lenje and I were talking about this, and I said Jiu Wang doesn’t have enough scenes in the drama to persuade me. We know he’s in love with Pengpeng but the most they’ve shared are the awkward meeting outside the bathroom scenes and the ones where she sneaks off to see him. His line “as long as you don’t betray me” irked me a lot because there just wasn’t enough foundation between the two characters to have that kind of deep, profound love imo. Besides, he was probably in love with the original Pengpeng and not this new one like he thinks he does.

I blame this on the scriptwriter.

        • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

I agree with you! I think the scriptwriter favored our guy 1 (emperor) way too much and so our second lead got very little interaction with Pengpeng. In fact 9 Wang had more interaction and CP feels with the old general’s son!

But for some reason I just liked Alan more than our main guy. Probably because our main guy was so stern all the time and 9 Wang seemed easier to relate to? Not sure why, really…

I dunno I can’t see the resemblance between Alan and Hawick at all…

        • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

That’s okay, we all have times when we just like a character over the other for little or no reasons at all. Totally fine! ๐Ÿ™‚

Yep, I’m pretty sure I shipped him with Yang Yan more. Gotta love the bromance! At one point I actually forgot that Yang Yan was actually married because that love at first sight thing was so random haha.

I did like Qi Sheng but my love is Pengpeng. She’s just too awesome. On other hand, it’s so sad that Cdramas need to use this type of drama to show a female lead can kick ass. Like can we get rid of the Mary Sues and get Zhang Pengpengs in most dramas?

IDK but there was one scene where I was looking at Jiu Wang from the side and thought he looked a lot like Hawick. Plus those lips. Lol.

        • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

I also agree that Alan is way better looking than Hawick.

        • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

The fact that Zhang Pengpeng is such a badass female and so different from all the Mary Sues is why she’s so popular among audiences! Finally we have a girl that is funny and awesome and much more like a real woman than those Mary Sues in dramas! I dunno about you but I can’t identify with any of those Mary Sues at all and they honestly piss me off to no end. A gal like Pengpeng is someone I can totally envision in real life and she’s such great fun that you just can’t help but like her! ๐Ÿ™‚

        • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Haha guys I’m really interested. What’s Pengpeng like that makes her more like a real gal? I want to watch GPG, but I haven’t worked up enough motivation to sit through it yet. Still stuck in a Nirvana depression. The rebound’s not happening yet. Btw, I’m now on ep 28 of Nirvana. Good stuff. I realize that this is only my second time rewatching from start to finish, but I’ve rewatching certain eps and sections so many times.

        • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

She doesn’t take shit from anyone, that’s for sure. Unlike Mary Sues who constantly try to be kind to people that hate her, Pengpeng doesn’t and has no problem getting back at them. Like with Jiang-shi. Obviously male!Pengpeng was being flirty with her but once Jiang-shi showed her true colors, Pengpeng was like “nope, I’m not taking this shit”. She actually “hinted” to her maid Lu Li that she could do some “things” to Jiang-shi.

Meanwhile in other dramas you’d have the Mary Sue constantly to win over her haters by doing a million good deeds and whatnot. Yeah, not happening with Pengpeng.

Not to make her seem like some unforgiving and heartless person, but she’s what I would say a real kind of woman imo.

    • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Great to see fellow Ken’s ladies!! He’s so underrated and stays out of limelight. I once took a peek at his weibo, and it looked like it’s rarely updated (although surprisingly he’s got quite a number of followers). No wonder it’s so difficult to find news about him, although he’s been in hit dramas. I didn’t realize he was in Legend of Fragrance. I read William was pretty good in it, mainly due to his great chemistry with Shu Chang. Can anyone vouch for that? Should I check it too?

I never watched Chu Liu Xiang, will do that one of these days. I hope it’s available with English sub. Heck, I’ll still watch it, subbed or not! :D. Saw the stills though, and yes, he bears high resemblance to Adam Cheng. Isn’t it coincidence that we just spoke about Adam Cheng’s cover version of the LOCH 82 soundtrack?

As for Alan, I personally don’t think he looks like Lu Yi or Hawick. I agree, though, it’s the lips. These guys have quite distinctive lips — how should I put it? Someone calls them “rosebud lips” LOL. You know, tiny and a little “curly” on the tips, if you know what I mean. :))) Yes, Shimo, you and I prefer Jiu Wang than the crown prince. Well, since PengPeng has picked the Crown Prince and YangYan is married, poor Jiu Wang needs some comforting and consoling and encouragement — we can give that to him! LOL.

Oh yes, we need more Zhang Pengpeng! I hope that with the tremendous success of GPG, more female characters are written like her/him! BTW, I saw some pictures of the third ending, and it’s hilarious to see ZPP+QS pose! :)))

  6. 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

PS. Kappy, do post some more new stills of this drama as they come along cuz isn’t Yang Mi the lead in this one? I like seeing her in period garb ๐Ÿ™‚

    • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Posting pretty pictures is like my expertise, Shimo. Not everyone is on set yet, including our leads. Lol.

      • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

LOL your awesome picture posting is part of why this blog is such fun to read! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m always here for pretty pictures hehe ๐Ÿ™‚

    • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Haha I love Yang Mi in period garb as well, but after looking into the character, I feel like I can’t see anyone but Liu Yi Fei as the main character anymore. She just has that vibe…

      • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

I agree with you! Liu Yifei has the look and aura about her that screams GRACE and XIAN (especially in the elegant way she moves like the lithe dancer she is), whereas Yang Mi had that sort of aura back in Chinese Paladin 3 days (her Goddess Xiyao was awesome and reminded me so much of young Audrey Hepburn with her grace and elegance) but now that she’s matured Yang Mi doesn’t have that feel anymore…

I honestly can’t see Mark Zhao as Yehua either cuz WTF his aura is TOTALLY WRONG for the character.

I love the Yang Yang + Liu Yifei combo because they’re both period beauties and carry themselves so gracefully (decades of ballet dance training does that LOL, just like Dong Jie and Liu Shishi are also very graceful ladies). I think that grace and elegance is really important when portraying such Xian-like characters.

        • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Hahaha guys I was just musing about this on my twitter this morning. Mark Zhao reminds me nothing of what Yehua is. Sure, put him in the clothes and give him that character’s name but his whole being just doesn’t scream YEHUA in any way. If we need to assign him a xianxia role, he should be someone like Er Lang Shen or something.

        • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

@ polaris: I agree with you about Mark cuz he’s got too much ๆ€ๆฐ” to be Yehua (who’s supposed to be a badass but a gentleman at the same time). A general type of character like ไบŒ้ƒŽ็ฅž would probably be more suitable for him…

        • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Too true guys about Mark Zhao. He’s totally got that go-getter, serious, block-face, general feel. After seeing him in Black & White and in the failure Detective Dee movie, he’s really not suitable for Ye Hua at all. Yang Yang definitely has that feel. It’s partly his face, and his dancer-ness. The graceful-ness sort of carries itself in his poise. Like the head tilt, the shoulders, etc. That’s why his fighting was very believable in Taekwondo Girl. Mark has that get-down-and-dirty, street brawl, dirty fighting cop feel. And YY does Xianxia so well cuz he’s got that above-everyone sort of calm, powerful deity thing going.

I totally want to read the novel translation for this, but alas, because of the copyright fraud thing, Hamster took down her translation. Understandable, but now there’s not english trans. I tried the audiobook, but Tang Qi Gong Zi is so wordy and verbose and flowery, that it’s just so hard to listen to and understand. I’m generally ok with Chinese listening, but that limits itself to more modern speech. Even with period dramas, I need some visual context, to understand all the lines (haha Nirvana’s more and more awesome the second time if only cuz I’m finally catching all the details in the wordy politics…Hu Ge said once that the hardest part of MCS was that he had A LOT of lines to memorize and all of them were political complicated stuff). Anyways, and the wispy voice for the audiobook puts me right to sleep.

  7. 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

I also can’t see Mark Zhao as the main guy, but we’ll see. Hence why I think Yang Yang and LYF are such great castings, yet they’re part of the movie and not the drama. Generally speaking I feel like despite the prettiness and on-point casting, the drama’ll do better than the movie if only due to the time-constraint and the long/complex plot they need to fit in.

    • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Mmm I’m actually iffy on that cuz I reckon the movie will be much better in terms of plot and pacing. The novel is such a drag so with the time limit of a feature film, hopefully the scriptwriters will cut the crap and give us the good stuff instead. The snail pace and messy prose of the original novel drove me nuts and I stopped reading so many times (and with loud cursing LOL) and only finished the novel because I wanted to know what happens at the end LOL

      • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

True, true. Sansheng, ไธ‰็”Ÿ๏ผŒๅฟ˜ๅท็„กๆฎค by ไน้ทบ้ž้ฆ™, also spans several lifetimes and stuff, but it’s considerably shorter and more concise…generally just very feel-good fluff. Which I guess isn’t really the same since 10 mi Peach Blossoms is more complex plot-wise. But still. Like I said above. Tang Qi Gong Zi really needs to cut the flowery verbose descriptions. It’s hard to focus on when listening to the audio, and I imagine it’s hard to sit through when reading it.

        • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

I haven’t read that title from ไน้ทบ้ž้ฆ™ but her writing is so much easier to read than Tang Qi. I loved her ๆœฌ็Ž‹ๅœจๆญค, female lead is so kickass.

  8. 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Mark Chao? As in mark chao of black and white?? If so I love him and getting to watch him in a 50 episode drama is awesome in my book. But I am biased and I’ll watch for mark even though I don’t know the characters or story. LoL

    • 59 thoughts on “Ken Chang and Alan Yu’s costumes for drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

I’m looking forward to see how they will style him. He has such a modern face with strong features so I’m not sure how he fits into a period setting with beautiful long locks. Lol.
