Cdrama: Go Princess Go OST + Two Endings Spoilers

Serving it hot! The full soundtrack with its instrumentals (the file is huge #notsorry)! You know not many dramas get this luxury. =D Go Princess Go is immensely popular, rendering plans for Season 2 and a movie. To be honest, I don’t want them to drag this franchise out. As it got more attention, criticisms from book fans also increased. On the upside, these unknown actors received plenty of love and support from the public, especially of the amazing performance put out by Crystal Zhang Tian Ai. Eye candy model Sheng Yi Lun also gathers himself a boatload of new fans. I also like him for singing and forking out money when the production had no money to hire professional singers. Poor puppy!

Ending #1

Peng Peng wakes up and sees the grand confession from Crown Prince. A heart-shaped flower bed in the middle of their garden. She smiles at him…then Boom! An arrow sears her stomach. He runs to her… She touches his face before she dies. He looks up and finds himself surrounded by an army of assassins. He dies right next to her. Zhang Peng (back to his male self) wakes up in the modern time and jumps back into the same pool. He travels back in time (?) and reminisces the scenes he shared intimately with the Crown Prince. -END-

The only difference here is when she smiles at Crown Prince for the thoughtful gift, the screen flashes to black. We are back in the modern time and it turns out to be a dream on Zhang Peng’s part. He wanders around the hospital calling out Crown Prince’s name until a doctor’s back catches his attention. When the doctor turns around, Zhang Peng stares into those dreamy eyes without saying a word. -END-

    i was and am just stunned out of my mind, my emotions were and are all suspended in shock and are hyped up at the same time!!! I thought I was mentally prepared going into this, but I am never so wrong. I knew what was going on but also thoroughly confused at the same time. I thought the drama was going to follow the novel’s ending somewhat (I read the novel through just google translate;it was painful and hilarious). The ost is is freaking amazing; I just play it over everything, and everything is ten times better. I couldn’t even listen to the new web drama music video without a note setting off “Miss you, but can’t say” blaring loudly inside my head. This drama occupies my thoughts, much like not mutually breaking up, can’t move on and don’t even want to.

        What I can ascertain from google translate is that 1) novel Qi Sheng is way way douchebag-er than drama Qi Sheng,way more. 2) …like when Qi Sheng learns that Peng Peng is a man through a really harsh and cruel and intense conversation that may or may not taken place in front of the whole court. 3) The novel wrapped with 100 chapters I think, and Qi Sheng died and then came back as a ghost or everybody just thought he died when he didn’t…anyway it was a short while and so Peng Peng became the Mother Dowager to her son and then Qi Sheng came back??? Sorry for the fuzzy details, it was with brute force that I read the novel with google translate.

          Actually, I think drama QS was a lot pettier and childish than book QS. What happened in the ending was that ZPP never fully accepted QS bc she wanted to in control of her life but couldn’t unless QS was dead and she became Empress Dowager. With QS alive, she had to live by his rules/whims, and she never felt safe/free. Knowing this, QS ended up faking his death to fulfill her wish, and coming back to be her consort instead of the Emperor.

    I agree with you re. S2 and movie. The Chinese has a nasty habit of dragging a franchise out when it becomes popular. Not a good idea. Best to end it now and move on. Leave the product intact and well loved. They did it to BBJX and Queen of SOP and totally ruined it for us! 🙁

    Omg I haven’t been following this webdrama, but I really like the second ending! Haha I have a really big thing for homosexual couples in fanfics and books, but there hasn’t been a drama with a homosexual OTP. I mean, in here, I guess spiritually(?) it’s BL, but physically it’s still a girl and a guy. If they continue a second season using the second ending, I just might watch it!

    For those of you who have watched this, do they play up the guy-in-girl-body struggles and show his/her acceptance of the OTP love, or is it glossed over? Does the guy know that she’s actually a guy?

      It was a struggle for Zhang Peng Peng to accept herself as a woman completely. It took like more than half of the drama, to be honest. Once she did though, there were still some occasions when she’d think from a man’s perspective of things.

      She did tell the Prince early on that she was from 2015 and her whole story, but he kind of just dismissed it as her just blabbing nonsense. So I think that’s why viewers speculate that the prince is gay.

    Yesterday (I think) I wrote here that I was at ep. 2, and last night I finished ep 11, LOL (considered slow marathon, since it’s only about 20-30 minutes per ep). Having read comments in various forums and blogs, it looks like I’m the only one who ships Zhang Peng Peng with Jiu Wang :))). I still can’t get why ZPP never falls or makes any advancement to Lu Li or the other concubines (occasional strokes don’t count LOL).

    Speaking of OST, I thought it’s kinda common in C-dramas to have the actors sing the soundtrack, no?

      I feel sympathetic towards Jiu Wang but I feel like the scriptwriter doesn’t give him enough scenes with ZPP to make me feel like there’s any sparks between them. If anything, he has more sparks with Yang Yan than he does with PP. If he has as much screen time as the Prince, I might have rooted for him…but then the Prince is pretty hard to top in the second half of the drama.

        You’re right, Polaris, there’s limited screen time for Jiu Wang. It’s also difficult to see him as a serious potential love rival to the Prince since he’s been reduced to a mere manager for Ali PengPeng courier service ;-)))). But he was portrayed with so much charm in the earlier episodes, and I actually think he’s better looking than the Crown Prince 🙂

          I find Jiu Wang too feminine here. The actor is much more attractive in modern clothes. 😉 On the other hand the Prince is the type that becomes better looking over time.

          I googled his name (Alan Yu?) and was astounded by how young looking he is in some pictures. He looks 15 — and skinny! :)))

          The Prince’s battle “armor” still makes me chuckle hard everytime he appears in it.

          LOL you’re not the only one. I thought Jiu Wang looked way better than the main guy and I loved his interaction with Yang Yan (is that his name?). LOL the Jiu/Yang bromance was awesome and I totally felt more sympathetic towards Jiu Wang than to the main guy Qi Sheng.

      I feel more sorry for Jiu Wang the more I rewatch the series; on the the third time I almost cried at how pitiful he was (he was so adorably devoted to Peng Peng) , but I question if his affections are for the new Peng Peng or is it residue feelings for the old Peng Peng carried over through time). I sort of waited on bated breathe to see if Jiu Wang show up at the assassination, but we only see masked men so I don’t think it was Jiu Wang or even Yang Yan.

      Peng Peng did truly tried a move on Lu Li in ep 5 when she was drunk and mistaken Qi Sheng for Lu Li. After a while, Peng Peng just want to survive in the palace and thus the alliance and why she was pretty tame in her/his advances.

      its normal for actors to sing but he’s not a singer and they didn’t have a choice. i mean he’s only a model (not popular yet) and had to paid the fees and costs for rent of the recording room and everything. so yea…. sucks to be a newbie in a low-budget production! good for them to get more attention!

    This is the WEIRDEST drama I’ve ever watched but it is so addictive. I feel like rewatching it again just for the laughs and the amazing chemistry between the Prince and Peng Peng. (They are also VERY ADORBS in real life interviews.)

    Go Princess Go was the first instance where logically plot actually bummed me out. I had fun in its nonsense and shallow happenings when all I have to go on are the hilarious bust a gust pee my pants visuals, but then I learn about the alliance, Qi Sheng’s power plays, and inner machinations of the palace, and I was bummed out to say the least. Half of the episodes’ plot is just Peng Peng navigating the power plays of Qi Sheng. I love how astounded everyone was to her cavalier attitude and lack of concern regarding the mistress. Favorite costume is still the Chanel physician, scene stealer: Peng Peng’s eyebrows and hair perfection (I had gotten so use to it, I was annoyed when the Mistress had rumpled hair, and I just refer to the mistress and the Mistress, I don’t even remember her name), things that got old real fast: Lu Li crying.

    This drama is ineffably addicting and entrancing.

    I went in with zero expectations and boy was I wrong. This drama – I don’t know what it is but I felt like i was on drugs! Though I wish they kept the humor and less of the drama. I felt like it was a bit of a roller coaster.

    LOL this was the most senseless and WTF Cdrama I watched but at least it was quite enjoyable, cuz I went in with the knowledge that it was gonna be silly.

    I actually liked the supporting characters (Jiu Wang, Yang Yan, etc.) more than the leads but overall it was a good bit of fun

    I honestly don’t understand either of the endings so I’m just like WTF??! at the last episode…

    Honestly, they could have stopped the storyline at the part where she turns around to look at him from inside the petal heart and I would have been happy.

    Or…me making my own ending; Peng Peng, who can’t contain her excitement after being spoiled with a love confession of a petal heart embedded on the ground runs to Qi sheng. Qi sheng smiles; he takes off from the patio and meets her halfway. Peng Peng greets Qi Sheng with a tight affectionate hug. Qi Sheng unable to breathe yelps silently, “I…I can’t breathe”. “Oh!”, Peng Peng shyly pulls away unable to meet Qi Sheng’s eyes. Qi Sheng smirks and leans close to Peng Peng’s ear, “I was just kidding. I liked it”. Qi Sheng’s words further embarrassed Peng Peng and her cheeks started to turn pink. She slightly hits Qi Sheng’s chest and he pulls her towards him for a passionate kiss. After the kiss, Qi Sheng leans his head against Peng Peng and said, “I love you. I really, really love you. I won’t complain about your weird habit ways or what you’re forcing me to learn because that’s what I love about you. I will continue to love you for all the remaining days of my life until my last breathe.” Peng Peng smiles, “I love you too!” Qi Sheng lifts Peng Peng up in the air and twirls her around. Love, happiness, and laughters were in the air. The end.

    Gosh, I don’t know what this drama has done to me with it’s bizarre storyline and funny wardrobes, but the leads were awesome and the love story was very good that kept me wanting more.

    LOL i am glad i am not the only one who was like WTF at first and just can’t stop watching even though nothing made sense and LOVE IT. It was such a wild and crazy ride and i thoroughly enjoyed it until the ending. i was like you could have stopppppppppp right there when she was done narrating their happy days. I was a Jiu Wang shipper until the second half of the show too.

    The second ending is actually the true ending, according to the novel and radio drama. However, the last scenes of returning to the present were added by the director for a sequel. Basically, the soul lived out her happy life in the past and eventually travels back to the present when her life ended. The princess was his past life while the modern him is his present life. The accident caused his soul to go back in time to relive his past life.

    If you want the actual ending don’t watch ep 35 and watch ep 36 while ignoring the modern scenes in the ending.
