Beautiful Posters for Vietnamese Version of Hua Qian Gu

Whenever I see extension of this drama, I whip out my mic and sing a chicken rendition of “Let it go~~~ Let it go~~~quack quack!”

However, I’m thoroughly impressed with the girl they chose to play Hua Qian Gu. She looks a bit older but has an edgy maturity and a beautiful face on top of that. She could’ve played the older version of Hua Qian Gu and I would be okay. The actor playing Bai Zi Hua has better hair that Wallace. Lol. The problem is when I scrolled down and saw the holy broomstick on the actor playing Sha Jie Jie. Moly.

Stills:

If all else fails, she should be Little Dragon Girl. Actress Yu Dương.

They are calling it Hua Qian Gu the short story, whatever that means. They promise to wrench out your tears too. That’s so nice of them. LOL. Remember the three little kids from the movie Yellow Flowers on Green Grass I introduced a few months back? They are gonna play the kiddie versions of the characters. That is so cute.

Hua Qian Gu the Vietnamese version will premiere in February, for all masochists out there!

Beautiful actors!! I agree with you, she is physically perfect to play Xiao Longnv. Why hadn’t they produced that instead? LOL.

The script, especially with scenes about the characters’ childhood, sounds like a fanfic of the original story. But perhaps it will turn out better? I hope they will improve the BZH and HQG! :D. On the other hand, BZH is supposed to be at least 1000 years older than HQG (I suspect Sha Jiejie is too). How will the children version play out?

I have no idea (no mention of a definite storyline), but they are gonna shake things up! I’m upset Dong Fang is not involved in the love triangle. To me, Sha Jie Jie is like a brother and I never shipped him with Qian Gu that way. But Sha Jie Jie is very popular so they are capitalizing on that.

On the positive side, Dan Feng – Ma Ke – His Under Ling, etc were recording a HQG skit for HNTV for their Chinese New year show. Li Ying performed as well. Poor girl looked like a zombie at the airport. 🙁

are these actors/actresses vietnamese of chinese ancestry? with anti-china sentiments running high in vietnamese because of territorial claims, I’m surprised that chinese dramas would be popular among vietnamese.

Vietnamese fans are vocal and supportive of cdramas and their actors from what i gather on online forums and such.

i recognize the actor in the middle cause my aunt’s a fan. he’s a full vietnamese, from what i know.

these actors are beautiful!! sha jie jie is prettier than MA KE! but his hair has got to go! LOL.

Hello, anonymous. Vietnamese use Hanzi until 1900. 60% of their vocabulary were chinese origin, so I won’t be surprise if they have similar physical feature with Chinese.

      • 31 thoughts on “Beautiful Posters for Vietnamese Version of Hua Qian Gu

Maybe 30% yes, but most Vietnamese do not have similar feature as Chinese. Facial features are very different, skull is different, body frame and height are also smaller.

Regardless of the territorial claims, Chinese showbiz seems to be very popular in Viet Nam, and to a lesser extent in the Philippines too. Popular Chinese novels are much more available in Vietnamese translation, so are the dramas and movies. Newly aired dramas already have Viet subs much earlier than the English sub. You’ll also notice there are a lot of active forums on Chinese entertainment with substantial numbers of Vietnamese participants. It’s not surprising given their shared culture (CMIIW, Viet Nam used to be part of China many many centuries ago). I think this is most likely the case with other CLMV countries.

I can’t wait to see HQG skit!!! I miss seeing Andy on my screen 🙂

China’ soft-culture also influenced surrounding countries like Japan and Korea centuries ago. Correct me if I’m wrong, but in modern times Japanese and Korean soft-culture has since replaced China globally and regionally. Even China has entirely succumbed to k-pop, k-drama, fashion, etc.

I think you are mistaken at how big and influential the kpop world is.

China is still mainly Chinese influence , Taiwanese stars have bigger impact in China than Korean stars.

Korean soft culture has not influenced the world, most people will only know of Psy, how many can remember his name is a different story.

Japanese soft culture is more influential but that is mainly due to their food and anime/manga being readily available.

How much has wither of these cultures actually take root outside of their own country?

I am a kpop fan (A Wonderful SayA to be precise) and love jadorama, anime and manga’s (and any light novel i can get my hands on…and sushi is my life!) But even I know their influence is very much contained within their country and only a niche corner of society.

tyn123: have you seen youtube videos of asian and non-asian girls chasing various k-pop stars at various airports around the world? they also have videos of black and arab girls reacting like drooling lovesick puppies for kpop singers. Even the loudest screams at award shows in China are reserved for Korean stars. You rarely see that level of craziness for chinese stars anywhere (except for WangKai). Taiwan’s biggest impact on the mainland was around the 80s and 90s. That has faded to be supplanted by everything Korean. You can hardly find dramas without the inclusion of Korean actors, or dramas/variety/reality shows that are not remakes of Korean originals.

@Lenje: My take on on your comment: I think it is mostly likely with other CLMV countries: I don’t think Cambodia, Laos dan Myanmar were heavily influenced by China Dynasty. They were most likely influenced by India. They might have a few Chinese word in their respective language just like English today, but the level of its similarity is not like Chinese and Vietnam.

        • 31 thoughts on “Beautiful Posters for Vietnamese Version of Hua Qian Gu

Thanks Abu! I agree, culturally India is more influential to the CLM countries and Thailand, and to some ethnic groups in Indonesia (notably Java and Bali). The language, however, is probably closer to China. Not as strong as Vietnamese, but these countries also speak tonal languages.

Honey, Chinese dramas are forever popular in Vietnam. I watched them throughout my childhood despite it all being dubbed Viet. 😀 😀 😀 Viet vocab is defs very similar to chinese and hence some words sound exactly the same except for tone such as ‘lao’ for old in Chinese and ‘lao’ in Viet also means old. 😀 😀 :DMuhahaahahaaha don’t have to wait for sub-titles this time round then 🙂

The girl looks like one of those actress from the 80’s Hk series. Yes the guy’s hair needs to go go!

  4. 31 thoughts on “Beautiful Posters for Vietnamese Version of Hua Qian Gu

Hi! You kinda got the actress that played Hua Qian Gu mixed up with the actor that plays Sha Jie Jie. 😛
Yu Dương (girl) is playing Hua Qian Gu and Huỳnh Anh (guy) is playing Sha Jie Jie.
*You can search both names up on google if you’d like to check 🙂
    – Take care! Luv your page!

Tbh it’s kinda surprising to read that chinese dramas are popular in Vietnam. In my lab I have this kid from Vietnam (28 year old grad student) and he doesn’t like anything chinese. The disputed area topic seems to be pretty sensitive to him.

    • 31 thoughts on “Beautiful Posters for Vietnamese Version of Hua Qian Gu

A ‘pure-blooded’ Vietnamese acquaintance feels the same way. She has nothing good to say about the Chinese ‘who took over Vietnam’. I’ve also read that the Vietnam government wanted to ban Chinese dramas and novels. I’m surmising that it’s just the Vietnamese with Chinese blood who like c-dramas.

      • 31 thoughts on “Beautiful Posters for Vietnamese Version of Hua Qian Gu

I am also a pure blood vietnamese and I can guarantee we love chinese dramas and actors. The channels even dub the weekday dramas which are like 800 vietnamese episodes.

There are those who don’t like anything CN because of the territorial disputes, and then there are those who separate entertainment from politics. Plus how far the boycott of CN related things goes depends on how heated things gets.

Btw, VN did not “belong” to CN like we were always a part of it but then broke off. We were invaded and colonized and then fought for our independence. So territory issues are esp sensitive coz of past history.

    • 31 thoughts on “Beautiful Posters for Vietnamese Version of Hua Qian Gu

Well, nowadays “entertainment” is indeed an essential part of diplomacy. Korean government, for example, considers so called “korean wave” one of strategic tools in their foreign policy (one of my friends is doing PhD at Seoul university). But that’s off-topic.
Vietnam indeed has an amazing war history. They defeated chinese forces endless times. They defeated mongol army of Yuan empire. They defeated american war machine. History is my hobby, I can talk about it endlessly. So I stop here. XD

Wait. So this is legit? I saw pictures floating around on Facebook but thought was this a fan-made version of Hua Qian Gu. So is this a legitimate remake for Vietnam?

    • 31 thoughts on “Beautiful Posters for Vietnamese Version of Hua Qian Gu

Yes. This is legit. They held audition and all. But it’s a short story so let’s see what we have.

  8. 31 thoughts on “Beautiful Posters for Vietnamese Version of Hua Qian Gu

Anyone’s who’s seen older kdramas or Warriors of the Yang Clan (the non-Hu Ge version with Alec Su as main lead), doesn’t the actress for HQG look kind of like Chae Rim? Totally agree with @Ironfingers, she really looks like the 80’s wuxia actresses.

  9. 31 thoughts on “Beautiful Posters for Vietnamese Version of Hua Qian Gu

Hmmm. Hmmm. Hmmm…. I shouldn’t discredit a Vietnamese remake with so much pretty, and I’m pretty sure the dialogs and chemistry will flow, however my main concern being a wuxia tidbit is how well these actors/actresses put in the work to carry their own stunts. C’mon, none of these Vietnamese stars act in action fill (aka. wire act) dramas before; they are not known for that genre.

  10. 31 thoughts on “Beautiful Posters for Vietnamese Version of Hua Qian Gu

My only question is: WHY??? Why, of all the wonderful fantasy historical romances out there, must they pick Hua Qian Gu for remake??? I dislike the novel and absolutely cringe at the drama.

    • 31 thoughts on “Beautiful Posters for Vietnamese Version of Hua Qian Gu

They are riding on the popularity horse. Not much else Ary!

  11. 31 thoughts on “Beautiful Posters for Vietnamese Version of Hua Qian Gu

OMG….no! Hua Qian Gu’s mom! She looks like 20 years old older than Xiao Gu! Such a big downgraded from Liying! And Bai Zi Hua looks so thin and flat, like he’s about to be blown by the wind!

For Sha jiejie, he looks beautiful! Perfect! No complains.

Now l’m worried about my beloved Dong Fang…… as the 2 main casts are such disappointment…..

    • 31 thoughts on “Beautiful Posters for Vietnamese Version of Hua Qian Gu

Completely agree with you about the actors for Bai Zihua and Hua Qiangu.
I’m sure the actor who plays Jiejie looks alright in real life but here he still looks a little like a poor knock-off to me.

  12. 31 thoughts on “Beautiful Posters for Vietnamese Version of Hua Qian Gu

So soon? I thought they would wait for a while before exploiting the popularity of Hua Qiangu. Oh well, it won’t hurt to take a look at it. It’s certainly going to make me appreciate Wallace and Zanilia more.
No offense, but anyone who has seen Vietnamese period dramas would have to agree that the acting over there is pretty embarrassing compared to what we see in KDrama & CDrama.

And Kappy… Oooohhhhh whyyyyyy? Why must you break my heart by saying that Yu Duong can play Little Dragon Girl. No matter how bad Michelle Chen was, she is still levels above these cosplay actors. Unless you were joking, please, please, pleeeeessseee tell me you were joking… *calm down* *calm down*.
