Dang. I thought this was advertised as a palace drama? What’s with these warrior armors and badass braids in their hair? First look at the main characters Tang Yang, Luo Jin, and Vanness Wu for the drama adaptation of Princess Wei Young (Jin Xiu Wei Yang – 锦绣未央) written by Jian Qin. This is Vanness’ tv debut into Mainland China.

Tang Yan. She was born as the kind-hearted Princess Xin Er of Northern Wei Dynasty but after her kingdom falls, she wanders around and is rescued by Li Wei Yang, an abandoned daughter of a respected tutor. However, Wei Yang dies protecting Xin Er, and the latter assumes Wei Yang’s identity to reside in her home, where she is disliked and shunned, and her journey of more suffering begins. But being trampled on boosts her fighting spirit more than ever and she rises to become a very powerful and cunning woman. Playing Wei Yang’s sisters are Mao Xiao Tong and Hsin Ai Lee. Too much photoshop, I don’t recognize Tang Tang….
Luo Jin as Ta Ba Jun. OMG. I laughed so hard when I saw this getup for him. Nezha!! LOL!! He is a bright, sunny, compassionate man who doesn’t care about royal politics and is the Emperor’s favorite son.
Vanness Wu as Ta Ba Yu, the other brother. His character is described as cold and ruthless with a hidden burden that could only be lessened by our heroine. He looks awesome!
The Princess Wei Young (Jin Xiu Wei Yang) is helmed by famed director Li Hui Zhu (Female Prime Minister, Beauty Creator) and plans to have 50 episodes.

Woah! Since when was Vanness a part of this drama? In excited for this but I fear what a lot of other fans are gearing: that they’ll make Tang Yan’s character too weak compared to the novel.

tang yan is everywhere… if there’s an honorable award for ‘the most ‘working girl’, then… perhaps she’s gonna make it to the list 😀 and for man, Hu Ge, hehe. kidding 😛

His character initially uses her to gain political advantages from what little summary I read. hehe. So she ain’t gonna be happy for sure! XD

I’m still reading the book to this. Wei Yang is ridiculously smart and badass in it. I’m fine with the drama version starting her out with being innocent and sweet but a character transformation MUST happen. Otherwise, it would be another unacceptable adaptation.
They removed the character of Li Min De, who is actually the one that ends up with Wei Yang. I guess they morphed him into Luo Jin’s TuoBa Jun instead.

Tang yan? Oh no! She’s beautiful but u bearable to watch and havent been able to finished any drama she’s in.

I agree. I can’t finish anything with Tang Yan. Her acting is too lacklustre.
