Jin Dong, Chen Qiao En in drama adaptation of Ghost Blows Out the Light

Whatttt. This woman. Her management company must be the best of the best. She gets all the good actors as her partners just when they hit it big too! If you’ve been following this blog, you would know that fantasy novel, Ghost Blows Out the Light, written by Zhang Mu Ye has been receiving a lot of attention. It has two movie adaptations within this year and as I called it back in May, the drama adaptation is here! Confirmed leads are Jin Dong (Nirvana in Fire) and Chen Qiao En (Destined to Love You). It’s categorized as a web drama and will start filming in March 2016, yunno after she romances Jin Dong’s acting child, Nick Wang in Tong Hua’s drama. LOL.

To prepare for the role, Qiao En has bought the novel and is ready to familiarize herself with the characters and storyline. She expresses high praises for her partner, Jin Dong, but he honestly apologizes and says that he rarely watches her works. Lol. He does hope that they can skip the get-to-know-each-stage period and get right into characters. Jin Dong will be playing Hu Ba Yi (roles previously played by Chen Kun and Mark Zhao), and Qiao En will be playing Shirley Yang (previously played by Shu Qi and Yao Chen). She was raised in America and returns to China when her father went missing while exploring tombs. Together with Ba Yi and his friend, they recruit a team of brave individuals to search the tombs and unleash the darkness from each one.

Photobomb time! First up is Chen Qiao En looking sleek in professional suits.

Short Clip of the show below. Full show here. The segment that got the girls screaming non-stop is when they asked the boys to re-enact the classic wear-your-coat scene from The Disguiser (~2:27). Chow Yun Fat should be the standard!! XD But Jin Dong looks smoking hot in his plain white shirt and coat. Fabulous. They also show a clip of Nick Wang singing and dancing back in 2008. hahah!

The drama will be directed by Wang Tao and written by Bai Yi Cong (The Lost Tomb). Oh boy. Should I be worried?

They both must have practice how to put on a coat coolly tons of times. You can see how nervous they look. So cute, the both of them.

Still awaiting confirmation on the Nick/Qiao En collaboration. Poor guy has been sick with a fever and he’s still running around. T_T

But wow, Jin Dong with Qiao En. I’m not going to lie, I never thought he’d agree to do a drama like this. LOL. It should be interesting to check out!

What??? Hes pulling out because of a fever??! Lol. Not to sound mean because korean stars have it worst and they still live shoot and everything. Qiyi announced his casting just last week….

Haha, sorry for the misunderstanding! I just know he’s been sick but this doesn’t have anything to do with filming.

There hasn’t been any confirmations from the official production company or even Wang Kai in regards to this drama as far as I know. All the weibo posts that I’ve come across have: 網爆 (net rumors) or 有消息指 (sources say) in that so I don’t consider those as confirmations yet. There haven’t been any confirmations in Wang Kai’s tieba either. Meanwhile he has bought up Romance in the Rain in a recent interview and said it’s in his consideration…

          *brought

Nothing from Tong Hua either. I’m anxious to know what he will eventually choose.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. NICK! RUN. I HATE THAT BROTHER CHARACTER. I can’t imagine an actor I like playing that stinky role. I’d be very upset!

        • 22 thoughts on “Jin Dong, Chen Qiao En in drama adaptation of Ghost Blows Out the Light

Seconding Kappy’s comment! Don’t take that stinky role! Wang Kai’s got so many more options now so why doesn’t he choose a better role???

I just started watching Nirvana in Fire and now I get why these guys are getting the recognition and attention.
Also Chen QIao En pretty much worked with all good looking actors in China there. She’s one lady gal! She has a likeable charm and I really hope CQE continued to find mature roles to play because I’m kind sick and tired of seeing her playing damsel or cutesy.
I think that’s what she left Taiwanese dramas industry and ventured out to do some more mature roles in China.

Idk. I hope we don’t have to worry about the directing and the script. Theoretically, Lost Tomb was supposed to be good. If they hadn’t cut out all of YY’s amazing amazing scenes, I believe (aside from LYF’s questionable acting) the series should have been good. So as long as they don’t hold any petty unreasonable grudges against any of the cast this time around, things should go ok. Also, with Jin Dong who’s so professional and holds everything at such high standards, the show will at least be watchable. In the ep from Tian Tian Xiang Shang, he did say script writer (? I forgot, but he was talking about the crew) who deserve to be yelled at, will get yelled at. I’m sure he was half-joking, but he takes his work very very seriously.

    • 22 thoughts on “Jin Dong, Chen Qiao En in drama adaptation of Ghost Blows Out the Light

Nah, with that nonsensical plot of The Lost Tomb, without cutting YY’s scenes would only make the fans less mad. Hahahaha.

    • 22 thoughts on “Jin Dong, Chen Qiao En in drama adaptation of Ghost Blows Out the Light

LOL Jin Dong is such a badass onscreen and in real life haha 🙂
I have so much more respect for him after seeing how seriously he takes his work. Good on him for sticking to his guns. Now that’s a truly fine thespian 🙂
I hope having him on board means the production won’t suck, cuz Lost Tomb pissed me off so much I still can’t think about it without feeling cheated OMG!

I can already hear the original fans of the novels crying somewhere. With the mess of novel adaptations everywhere, I don’t have high hopes for this.

And I honestly don’t see the charm in Chen Qiao En…

    • 22 thoughts on “Jin Dong, Chen Qiao En in drama adaptation of Ghost Blows Out the Light

Same here, I really tried to like her, she looks adorable, but no connection lol! Her characters are similar, please don’t tell me to see swordsman, because I did, and it is not my cup of tea, noodles or anything.

ALWAYS HERE FOR MY 男神 JIN DONG AND WANG KAI <3 <3 <3
If only Hu Ge and Wu Lei were on the show too…!

Good Lord, the scriptwriter/directors from Lost Tomb. WTF WHYYYYYYY
I'll probably check it out anyway cuz of Jin Dong… LOL

    • 22 thoughts on “Jin Dong, Chen Qiao En in drama adaptation of Ghost Blows Out the Light

You know, I just had a mental image of Jin Dong voicing his displeasure at the script and the director. Having him onboard means they better get their stuff together and not make a mess like they did with The Lost Tomb.

      • 22 thoughts on “Jin Dong, Chen Qiao En in drama adaptation of Ghost Blows Out the Light

Y’know, when I saw the show where they talked about how serious Jin Dong takes his work, voicing his displeasure when he feels he needs to, etc., my respect for him grew even more. I really hope having JD on board means that the scriptwriters/directors will get their act together and not give us the shit that Lost Tomb was. (I swear I will never get over the utter mess they made of Lost Tomb.)

Seriously, the more interviews, shows, etc. I see featuring Jin Dong and Wang Kai, the more I like them. Here are 2 fine actors who are charismatic, talented, takes their work seriously, and just seem like all-round decent people. I mean, good-looking guys are everywhere in the entertainment industry, but guys like them who seem so down-to-earth (and not so out of touch with reality like many celebrities are) and decent are hard to find.

I want to see more mature actors like Jin Dong instead of the constant attention given to ‘young fresh meat’ idols. So glad he has finally been ‘discovered’ after so many years in the business.

    • 22 thoughts on “Jin Dong, Chen Qiao En in drama adaptation of Ghost Blows Out the Light

I appreciate talents too but we can’t dismiss the young fresh meat because everyone starts out just the same way – eager, young, and inexperienced. There’s a place for everyone; this is a youth drama so it’s granted that newer and younger actors will get the roles.

OK, but please have more news and pics of the latest heartthrob Jin Dong!
