Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

Alrighty, so it’s been confirmed by Qiyi that Chen Qiao En‘s upcoming drama, tentatively called Abandon Me Hold Me Tight to be penned by Tong Hua (Bu Bu Jing Xin) has cast Nick Wang (Nirvana in Fire, Love Me If You Dare) as the male lead. As reported before in cnews batch 21, more details of the story after the jump.

Synopsis: Due to a car accident in the water, our fashion designer, Vivi (Chen Qiao En), loses her memory. After she wakes up, her memory begins at the age of 23. The boyfriend (Nick Wang) in her memory is now her rival at work. While a man with a strange face is now her fiancé. Based on her vague memories, she doesn’t trust that she has broken up with former boyfriend, and thus starts her own investigation to find out the truth. Afraid of losing her and trying to protect her, her fiancé tries to hinder her plan in every possible way. After she recalls the full picture, she realizes that busy lives have kept her and her loved ones from the dream they once pursued so passionately. The reason behind the break-up is due to their workaholic nature, inadvertently pushing away love and understanding. As confrontation and misunderstanding increase, former boyfriend broke up with her. At the age of 30, Vivi is determined to change the way things are going, erasing misunderstandings from the past, erasing conflicts between them, never stopping until she finds love, and the dream and heart she one possessed.

Kap: Er….This sounds boring. Lol. I was expecting more angst and complications from a writer like Tong Hua but it looks like she has lost steam after her biggest hit, Bu Bu Jing Xin, left a giant hole in fans’ hearts. To get over the boring plot, let’s look at their recent photo shoots!

The hottest man right now! ;D

first time opened this site, i was like “OH MY GOD… MY MAN!” hahaha… then.. read every single word and… dear Kap, as usual, im gonna steal one or two of Wang Kai’s pics.. my apologize, haha… thank you ^^

btw this jie is getting prettier everytime i see her. but i couldnt stand her drama with Huang Xiao Ming. i hope she would choose a good script, but.. i trust wang kai’s decision. even the story sounds sooooo ‘makjang’ but who knows… i read some of tong hua’s book and watched adaptation dramas from her novels, so… just gimme a happy ending, just like in SoD. Best Time had the worst ending ever!!!!

    but im totally in!!!!

MY MAN?! You claimed him already Yui? Ai ya ya… At least Eddie Peng will be free for a while then. hehe.

Chen Qiao En is never gonna age. But yes, she needs to choose better scripts with complex and mature characters.

    *stares at Wang Kai*

    *minutes later*

So he’s finally decided on this one, huh. I’ve been lurking around his tieba and noticed a lot of his fans not wanting him to take on a Tong Hua project because of the plagiarism controversies surrounding her work. Frankly, I trust his decision. He seems to be very selective when it comes to choosing roles so something about this one must have sparked his interest. It’s too bad it’s not a Shanying production. I’m sure he’ll return to them when the right script comes along.

*stares some more of Wang Kai*

Gasps. Tong Hua has been surrounded by plagiarism rumours?? Cries. Why is every established writer accused of plagiarism nowadays.

      • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

They’re mostly internet authors too. It makes me wary of reading online novels now.

        • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

Yeah and Tang7 and Guo Jingming are also notorious plagiarists and yet they make shit tons of money. Where is the justice

        • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

I didn’t know Tang7 was a plagiarist until I saw some fans talking about it in Tieba. I personally liked her 3 Lives novel. It’s not a genre that I usually read so I wasn’t able to recognize the plagiarized parts. Do you know what they are?

Guo Jingming gives off this arrogant vibe so I avoid him like the plague.

        • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

I also find Guo Jingming annoying in person, based on his interview. Maybe I judge too quick, but he sounds like he’s only writing for the money. Theoretically, nothing is wrong with that. But I feel like he doesn’t even care about what he “writes”. Even if some other authors plagiarize (or at least get accused to be plagiarizing), they still seem to have personal connection to their products, not necessarily because the product is money raking. But for Guo Jingming, they’re merely business tools, and the worse thing is he’s proud about that, and his success only adds to his inflated ego.

        • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

I don’t like him either. There’s just this arrogant vibe about him and also superficiality.

    • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

I have to say I’m one of those fans… hopefully his character is more shady/interesting than what’s revealed so far!

      • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

MTE. Wang Kai doesn’t like to film strictly romance dramas so let’s see what else is in store.

        • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

TBH strictly romance dramas are boring and are waste of his talent. He needs to do more meatier roles like 靖王 and 阿诚

  3. 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

WANG KAI so amazing! I saved all the pics :D. While I’m excited he’s got a lead role, and I love the pairing (CQE’s pretty awesome…she’s got the looks and skills, just needs to make better decisions), BUT Wang Kai’s character sounds kind of uninteresting…and unchallenging. At the same time, like Yui and ChasingPolaris, I trust Wang Kai’s decisions. In his interviews, he seems like he really considers each role he takes on, and with such a close relationship with a “shi-ge” like Jin Dong (who’s standards for roles are like legendary), I’m sure he’s going to shine in this…

But seriously Tong Hua, can’t you at least pick a better general plot? Hopefully even if the plot sounds kind of meh, the details and the relationships and the script will be great.

    • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

Jin Dong is AWESOME OMG I watched his cameo in Nirvana and liked him and then I watch Disguiser and I’m totally awed by how great of an actor he is (and he has phenomenal charisma too).

Wang Kai is another great actor and charismatic too! Actually I’m loving the Nirvana/Disguiser guys so much – Hu Ge, Wang Kai, Jin Dong … these talented/gorgeous men need to make another drama together or something!!!

      • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

Yeah. I thought he was awesome as Lin Cheng and Ming Lou. He’s phenomenal (him, Wang Kai, Hu Ge are really so awesome and all-around type guys). But I really started to like him as a person character-wise and just charisma/presence that he oozes, through his interviews. Esp. this one
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMUk_QN9n98

I actually really like this series of interviews that Wang Kai, and Jing Dong did (for Disguiser).

Here’s Wang Kai’s. Love his interview. Like Jin Dong, he seems like a really thoughtful, expressive person, but I think he’s less serious and funnier than Jin Dong.

And Hu Ge’s interview with Sohu (I think): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnMKdefcedM

Lol Hu Ge’s expressions are so hilarious…he’s like “what is this interviewer talking about” most of the time. She’s not a very good or charismatic interviewer (the interview from Xin Yue Si Fang Hua is much better). Hu Ge’s answers are so well-spoken and awesome despite the bad questions. Really shows how witty and charismatic he is as a speaker, and he’s so quick on his feet with responses. Amazing man. I’m in love.

        • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

Thanks for the interview links! Love them! 🙂

        • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

Thank you for the links! 🙂

Hu Ge, Wang Kai, and Jin Dong are wonderful – not only are they talented, they’re also thoughtful and charming/witty 🙂

Please Drama Gods, make these 3 work together again!!!

        • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

I’m completely in agreement! I’ve been following these 3 men, Jin Dong, Wang Kai, and Hu Ge after watching Nirvana in Fire and Disguiser respectively. I love the mom/sister …incredible actress. I’m going through withdrawals since very few dramas can deliver such great cast, acting, script, and directing. It’s not cliched and boring and drawn out. So Yes, I’m dying to see Ode of Joy with Wang Kai and Jin Dong. I want Hu Ge to be in the mix again. But I want Jin Dong to have a leading role as well. Please movie Gods, don’t leave us hanging like this. Wish they would have Disguiser 2 happening down the road with these 3 again.

  4. 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

Anyone else thinks Wang Kai bears a strong resemblance to Hu Ge’s buddy Yuan Hong?

    • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

Yup, they’re practically twins. And equally talented.

Now, I demand that Chang Ge Xin be released soon!

      • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

i talked to hoju from hui3r blog and i said that wang kai and yuan hong are names that came to my mind when i thought about the male lead in beautiful bones novel. if there would be an adaptation, one of them would be the main lead. they have the same ‘vibe’.. i dunno but totally agree with you too ^^

        • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

I personally feel like Wang Kai would fit better as Zhousheng Chen. While they look similar, I actually think they’ve got different vibes. Yuan Hong’s more boyish and care-free, I feel like. It’s hard to describe, but Yuan Hong’s more of a joking person vibe, a very happy-go-lucky person. Whereas Wang Kai, he’s got a self-deprecating sort of humor in interviews, and he’s cuter in interviews than on-screen…BUT I feel like generally his vibe is more…idk…thoughtful and deep-thinker like. In chinese I would say he’s more 沈穩, 穩重. Like he makes jokes and he’s got a sense of humor, but he’s really calm-and-steady vibe, I feel like.

        • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

@Julianne: I totally agree with your assessment of Yuan Hong and Wang Kai. They may look alike but the vibes they give off are totally different. Yuan Hong has a playful boyish charm about him whereas Wang Kai is more contemplative and 沈穩/穩重, as you said. This is especially evident in their interviews and the way they talk 🙂

        • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

oh really? i havent watched many of their project and talk shows, so my thought based on their character in dramas, haha…

i need to watch more. but i hope BB will be adapted into a drama and let Wang Kai play that character. 🙂

    • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

LOL trust me you ain’t the only one! Wang Kai and Yuan Hong can pass off as brothers with how much they look alike! 🙂

Fine by me cuz I love them both 😀

  5. 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

Wang Kai why must you do this to me?! You know I have no choice but to follow you wherever it is that you lead, but this time it may just be too much. Hahaha. Such a cliche plot. Any drama with either one or both of the leads loosing memories is such a turn-off. I’m not a fan of Joe either, so I’ll probably wait to hear if anything exciting actually happens.

    Girls, keep me updated.

PS have a name been established for fans of Nicky Wang Kai?

    • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

I don’t think there’s a consensus but I’ve been seeing 靖王妃 being thrown around a lot, haha.

      • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

Hahahahahaha I like 靖王妃! Great name! 😀

  6. 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

I’m not a fan of Tong Hua but I like Wang Kai very much so maybe I’ll have a look at this for him 🙂

    • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

PS. Plot sounds shit but oh well at least Wang Kai and Chen Qiao En are gorgeous 🙂

  7. 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

Woo this man is everywhere. I don’t like Tong Hua work much either, I did like the romance aspect of SOD, but every other one of her stories are so blah to me! Maybe this one is good! I always thought of Wang Kai to be like a serious character type of actor, not one who falls fo these teeny beeny lovey type serious. Hopefully, it is good! I am not a big fan of Joe, haven’t seen anything in particular that makes me like her yet, her characters is pretty much alike in most series.

  8. 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

OK, just read this from another blog and it surprised me big (actually shouldn’t have, if I paid more attention to the actors’ bio): Wang Kai and Zhang Han were classmates and graduated together. They took the almost completely different paths that it’s still difficult for me to wrap my head with this info LOL.

Also, Zhao Li Ying, Wang Kai and Ma Ke at one time were all managed by Hua Yi (saw the picture of their younger selves together!). Li Ying is still under Hua Yi, right? Not sure about Wang Kai and Ma Ke, though.

    • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

IIRC Wang Kai is with Shanying (the Nirvana in Fire and Disguiser production company) and Ma Ke is with Ciwen (the company that made Journey of Flower and Hua Xu Yin)

    • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

LOL you’re not the only surprised because I can’t believe Zhang Han and Wang Kai were classmates either haha. Zhang Han got famous much earlier and took a more idol route, whereas Wang Kai remained relatively unknown until the recent explosion in popularity due to Nirvana in Fire and Disguiser.

Personally I think Wang Kai is the better actor (judging from the dramas I’ve seen of the 2 actors) but Zhang Han has the whole “movie star” charm/vibe about him so I can see why he’s so popular 🙂

I like both of them but Wang Kai has been wowing me with his talent 🙂

      • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

I think it’s because Zhang Han stars in many idol dramas, giving the illusion of youth (he does look younger too) so many assume he’s really young when he’s only two years younger than Nick.

I need more hours in a day to watch dramas. And sleep!

        • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

Mmm I agree about Zhang Han. He ages really well and he has a prince-like charm about him, I think 🙂 While he may star in idol dramas, I think he’s definitely a solid actor and he’s also quite charming in interviews, etc. 🙂

Wang Kai gives off a more mature vibe (which I really like) … when I see Jin Dong and Wang Kai together, I almost feel like Wang Kai may be like Jin Dong some years down the track (in terms of acting). Jin Dong is such an incredible actor I’m totally awestruck and blown away by how good he is (I just finished marathoning Disguiser LOL) and I see the seeds of something similar in Wang Kai too 🙂 It’s so weird cuz I watched Nirvana/Disguiser for Hu Ge but ended up crushing majorly on Jin Dong and Wang Kai … I’m forever a Hu Ge fangirl but I’m just awed by how good WK and JD are 🙂

        • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

LOL I totally agree with you about needing more hours cuz I’ve got exams right now so I had to marathon Nirvana and Disguiser in between handing in my assignments and studying for exams LOL

      • 39 thoughts on “Nick Wang joins Chen Qiao En in Abandon Me Hold Me Tight

I also think Nick is a better actor, and he seems to want to have more varieties in his roles. Zhang Han chose the idol route (or for some reason hasn’t been offered more challenging roles), so I can’t really tell about his actual potential as an actor. But, who knows? I used to think Feng Shao Feng and Wallace Huo were just pretty boys, but they pleasantly surprised me in The Wolf Totem and The Great Protector, respectively.
