WOW, a mega thanks for this, Kaptain! Gotta pay in order to watch this, isn’t it!

I watched episode 1 on youtube before it got taken down. I can’t put any judgment on it yet but I heard both ZLY and William have both received praises for their acting. Definitely looking forward to it!

    • 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

Yep! Which also means we won’t get subs like the speed of TJOF.

I need to sit down properly to watch this. And take tons of screencaps. =D

  2. 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

    Thank you so much!!!!

I’ll download it by monday!! Gonna use up today, Sat and Sun to finish my assignment so that i able to relax by MONDAY! weeeee~~~~~~ thank you so much

  3. 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

I forgot that this was airing this month! Already watching 3 dramas at once so no more room for this. Guess I’ll just lurk around this thread for now. =P

  4. 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

Eerily quiet in here! I know more than enough people who downloaded the first episode. Where are ya?

    • 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

Hahahahaha! After nearly 2 hours of waiting, ep 1 has finally downloaded and I’m so excited! btw, I’ve followed your blog for quite a while (back when it was still AliceChen’sWorld) but I’ve never downloaded any of your episodes yet because I usually like to stream, but now that it’s restricted to VIP iQiYi access, I downloaded for the first time, and man, the quality is really really good. Thanks a bunch Kap!

      • 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

Ah, it’s been so long and you managed to avoid downloading! My hard drive is packed with dramas as I like to take screencaps so downloading is a must.

You’re welcome, Juli! ACW, it has been three years since the change. I always feel nostalgic when people remember. =)

    • 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

Lol I just started watching and I have to say, the opening scene of Nick(y?) Wu is really funny looking. They look like they’ve regressed to the dark ages of cavemen who just discovered fire…plus the effects/animation is kind of cheesy. But since I’m so excited for this production, it’s more amusing than annoying. (Just like how I felt about the obviously-animated scene of the flying messenger bird in the first ep of Lang Ya Bang. That one really broke the solemn/serious/high-quality/elegance image they had going. But thankfully so far that’s been the only out-of-place scene).

      • 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

Or maybe that has nothing to do with Nick(y?) Wu. I thought I saw his face, but it’s hard to tell with all the teeth-baring-ferocious expressions and facial/tribal tattoos they’ve got going on.

      • 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

Lol. You’re not wrong. They are indeed Nicky and Louis Fan in the opening scene. XD

  5. 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

I didn’t download it, but I did watch the first 3 episodes from a website. To be honest, I’m underwhelmed. If feels a little too fantastical to me (I know, I know, it’s a fantasy drama) and the editing feels choppy, esp Ep 3. BUT, the latter could probably be attributed to some technical errors, so I reserve my judgment until I see more episodes (and more interaction between William and Liying). I actually can’t wait until Liying’s wifey role is killed and we can look forward to Yu Wu Xin with her glorious, evil hotness :D.

    • 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

I know what you mean. After waiting for and anticipating Legend of Zu for so long, I…don’t really know how I feel about it yet. I don’t actually LOVE it yet, but that could change. It’s just, I’m watching Lang Ya Bang right now (Nirvana in Fire) and I didn’t plan on loving it as much as I do. Like I NEED the next episodes immediately. It’s a craving. But For Legend of Zu, it’s the opposite, I was expecting to absolutely love it, but right now…I’m not particularly anxious about when the next few episodes are coming up. I think partially it’s because right now (I’m on ep 3 as well) it’s all setup and introductions, and the real plot and conflict between the characters (that I care about, at least. tbh, I couldn’t care less about any of the Mount Zu peeps) haven’t started yet. Still looking forward Wu Xin’s appearance. 😀

  6. 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

Thanks for uploading! I know it takes time to do them. 🙂

William’s acting is not up to par. In emotional scenes, he falters, like that scene in front of his wife’s grave. I think he’s best at playing happy, or strict roles like in Ancient of Legend Swords. Good think he’s easy on the eye.

[email protected] and his wife doing it out in the open. He just couldn’t wait huh? How open-minded the new wuxia are! 😛 😛

    • 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

I saw that scene. LOL. It’s a good thing they did it high in the mountains so no one could see… X)

    • 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

I agree hehe but then Li Yi Feng’s acting is like that too… I gave up on Ancient Sword because i feel like it ruined the whole Fantasy Wuxia theme lol… or maybe Tangren’s idea of it is so good/original that I kinda feel like Ancient Sword is really fake and ruins the idea of Shu Mountain- they’re meant to be taoists who are highly skilled because of their faith and teachings so seeing them wear brightly coloured clothes and going around like some sort of celebrity annoys me. But then Tangren’s take is more philosophical so more meaningful but not as fantasy-like so I understand why some like Ancient Sword. Oh yeah and also because Hu Ge isn’t in it lol.

Back to topic, I had high hopes for Legend of Shu when I saw the trailer but like the whole Shu people are so annoying and immature… reminds me of the disappointment of HQG- trailer looks awesome, actual drama sucks. The only drama that had an awesome trailer and drama was Long Ya Bang lol. I only want to keep watching Legend of Shu is William and ZLY’s relationship and ZLY’s acting.

  7. 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

Daddy Wu !!!!!!!!! gonna wait for more episode and subs from viki to be out, can’t wait >_<
a yes need to finish Journey of Flower first or i'm gonna be lost between the worlds xDDDD

anyway big thanks for this mega post always useful to have them ^^

    • 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

You still haven’t finished Flower? Gurl, so late. Good luck, you’ll need it! *smiles evilly*

      • 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

yea i know shame on me BUT i have a good reason xDD
was waiting for all the eps to be subbed i have a habit of watching a lot of eps at one time and sometimes i’m going to fast than the airing xDDD

  8. 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

Thank you, Kap, for providing us ZLY in regular doses ! Bad hair aside, William is also not bad ! 😀

I intended this to be my first Impression Rating Chart buuut after 4 episodes I’m still not too sure what to think about this. It’s probably my fault because I had too high expectations. So far, it’s kind of meh, but then again, the “real” story is just beginning…I’m waiting for more evil LY + W scenes. Good Nicky was an unexpected pleasant surprise . His hair was even worse that William’s :D. Evil Nicky looks a bit like a lion. :)))) The “good” sect guys were totally annoying. I almost had a Chang Liu deja vu. :/ I’m definitely team evil here.

    • 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

I actually like Nicky’s hair. It’s so full and thick and non-moving. Lol. I like guys with longer hair in real life too. hehe.

They didn’t even try with William’s hair. There’s literally a random piece glued above his ear. OMG.

      Oh no… Chang Liu deja vu…. !!

    • 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

That’s what I’ve been feeling! I’ve only just finished ep 2, and I hate the good guys! That’s so sad that lately, most of the good guys (aka every “good” sect out there from the peeps in Xiao Ao Jiang Hu to Ancient Sword to Hua Qian Gu) are so annoyingly self-righteous and just so infuriating! I’m not only on Wu Xin’s side, I’m totally on her dad’s side too (but only if he promises to treat Wu Xin a little better)!

  9. 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

Hi! Thank you so much for uploading the first 4! I can’t wait for more!!! ^o^

I’m actually really enjoying this show (on ep4 already), while it’s definitely not perfect it’s so much more watchable than anything else I’ve tried when it comes to Cdramas the past couple of ummm years. Really, I haven’t loved anything from Mainland China since Bu Bu Jing Xing and that was in 2011… Granted, this year might be different with a couple of truly promising shows (haven’t checked out “Disguiser” or “Nirvana in fire” yet but I’m totally planning to). Today I decided to try “Legend of Zu” and I already marathoned to episode 4 so that’s a good sign. I usually don’t last this long (ok I endured longer for Cruel Romance before giving up).

I do agree that the editing is a bit choppy, but all current cdramas seem to have that problem unfortunately. At least it didn’t bother me too much. And also William’s acting is also not the best, he should have been more devastated about his wife’s death… felt like he was too stoic about it. Anyway so far I think it’s interesting and can’t wait for more 🙂 Keep them coming and thanks for the hard work!

    My first impressions:
    – Story: ✪✪✪✪
    – Chemistry: ✪✪✪✪
    – Acting: ✪✪✪
    – Directing: ✪✪✪
    – Entertainment Value: ✪✪✪✪

    • 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

Lol I remember feeling a moment of “seriously?” in ep 2 when he’s sort of dazed and he just lets himself be unresistingly carried out by the Mount Zu “saviors”. Like tbh, I was like, seriously, did you just forget about your wife? He didn’t even ask about her and tell them to save her…he’s was just like…I-feel-like-I’m-concussed-face + I’m-just-gonna-be-silent-and-limp-while-you-carry-me-off-while-my-wife-may-or-not-be-dying-in-the-fire-somewhere.
Lol, I’m gonna cut William some slack though, because I like him and because his character not particularly inspiring right now anyways.

      • 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

Haha, I know right? It really bothered me. And then when he found her hairpin he only looked mournful instead of devastated… I mean she was his EVERYTHING! What’s with the lukewarm reaction?! When he went on mission to avenge her death it felt like a duty rather than something he burned for. Really, he should take a lesson or two about angsting from Nicky Wu 😛

    • 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

btw! Lang Ya Bang and Wei Zhuang Zhe are really really really AMAZING! They’re actually like heaven-sent for the good-drama starved me. I feel like I haven’t seen any dramas of this caliber in like EVER. Granted I generally don’t watch dramas that are heavy on the political-plot stuff, but these are both so interesting and the acting is so superb and the directing and storyline is so tight and put together and seriously quality stuff.

    • 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

I’ve already cried buckets of tears watching Wei Zhuang Zhe (Disguiser). I hate crying, but it’s totally worth it. The last time I cried this much was when I watched Yang Jia Jiang (the 2006 version one with Hu Ge and Chen Long), and that was when everyone died. I’m not saying everyone dies in The Disguiser, but it’s so moving and emotional that it makes you cry just as much.

    • 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

Seriously I could talk about Wei Zhuang Zhe and Lang Ya Bang FOREVER! I could just talk and talk and talk about how amazing they both are…you should definitely watch them. I took a weekend to marathon The Disguiser and it was worth it. Literally I didn’t leave my room or eat for like 30 hours. (I did sleep though).

      • 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

LOL! Thanks for the recommendations 🙂 Actually I started watching Nirvana in Fire yesterday and ummmm I totally couldn’t stop >__< I ended up watching nonstop from episode 1 to episode 7 and since I started watching late yesterday I literally only slept for 2 hours! Arghhhhhh I'm so screwed! =_______=

I also usually avoid dramas that are heavy on politics because they can be so dry (not to mention hard to understand) but in this case it's really interesting and they are doled out in doses which makes it easier to get through! I have a very rough understanding of what's going on, but will definitely need to rewatch the episodes when the subs are available.

Anyway, I just love LOVE Nirvana in Fire! The perfect cast and stellar acting performance, the intrigue, the amazing story and awesome characters, the gorgeous directing and the smooth editing (OMG finally a drama without the usual choppy editing)! High quallity production all around! I haven't seen this kind of awesome Chinese drama for YEARS, not since Bu Bu Jing Xin, and frankly it was about freaking time that this came along! I was about to give up on Chinese dramas altogether… I hope this drama is popular in China right now and is earning all sorts of praises. It more than deserves it, but also I hope it'll raise the standard for future Chinese dramas (well one can always hope).

Hahah, I'm totally gushing here and in the wrong thread too 😛 Will definitely try out Disguiser later ^^

    • 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

OMG I’ve been watching Nirvana in Fire like nonstop for the past day and it’s everything I was hoping for it to be! It’s THE drama I’ve been looking forward to seeing ever since I got word it was being filmed last year – everything from the production value, costumes, cast, script, acting … all of was just something I was most looking forward to seeing and it certainly did NOT disappoint!

I swear this drama is on the caliber of Three Kingdoms with it’s intricate plot, awesome cast … EVERYTHING a historical drama should be! I knew I could trust Shanying to give us the drama we want to see and I’m so glad my hoping and anxious waiting has paid off! Seriously Nirvana in Fire has restored my faith in Cdramas (LOL) – I’d lost hope after so many disappointments this year (Lost Tomb, etc.).

Don’t get me started on Nirvana cuz I prolly won’t stop singing its praises anytime soon 🙂

  10. 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

I haven’t started this. Been bedridden sick with flu since Monday! It’s been decades since I got so sick I literally could not leave bed! Glad to see this had started. Will start on this as soon as I feel good enough to watch something without feeling dizzy. Thanks a million, Kap!

  11. 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

Haven’t downloaded it yet, but did you know Happy Camp is having Nick(y?) Wu (sorry, momentary brain fart – I forgot but I’m too lazy to check), Zhao Li Ying, and William Chan as guests in there Oct3 episode to promote Legend of Zu? It’s going to be awesome. Especially since in the past Zhao Li Ying has always been pretty quiet and cautious/shy in reality shows etc, but recently I think because of her experience in dramas and her increasing popularity and her addition to Up Idol (aka the more logical name Ou Xiang Lai Le), she’s a lot more open and her personality (she’s pretty damn hilarious and cute) is showing through.

(sorry, can you delete the previous post? This is a dupe, but I accidentally used the wrong email in the last one so I won’t get a notification is someone replies)

    • 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

I saw the preview clip (click). It looks so much fun with water games! She’s been very open lately, unlike the quiet girl of before. Which is good because that means she has a personality!

  12. 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

Sigh. I’m on ep 2, and I feel like no matter what, I always hate the good guys. They’re always so self-righteous and unwilling to admit when they’re wrong. At least when bad guys do bad things, they don’t pretend like they’re doing good things. All the Mount Zu people are so irritatingly self-righteous. Da Li just wants to go find his wife, and not only does that stupid eldest-female-disciple-person forcefully try to stop him, she also stabs him, then yells at him for trying to leave while her sword is still stuck in his body and then call him and evil person. Who the eff does she think she is?! What. She thinks she’s so awesome? She effing got manhandled by Ding Da Li, and he was just a normal civilian.

  13. 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

To be honest, I hope even if in the end Da Li doesn’t get to end up with Wu Xin, he doesn’t get together with Janice Man’s character. I find her character really boring and generic; since Da Li’s character is already pretty common (classic good guys with a good heart who’s got responsibility to save the world who doesn’t actually want to) if they get together, they’d be the most boring, chemistry-less couple ever.

  14. 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

God I’m on ep 10 and I have to say, Zi Ying (the daughter of the leader of the Zu sect) is the MOST irritating and hateful character ever!!! She’s like a pathetic version of Guo Fu from Return of the Condor Heroes by Jin Yong.

    • 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

You are hooked! You watched all 10 episodes and I’m still pathetically encoding the videos. Lol.

      Too many projects/dramas this fall!

      • 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

Thanks a bunch Kap, you’ve definitely got a full workload this season. So many awesome stuff. Don’t forget to just relax and watch some of it youself!
Now that ZLY’s appeared, yeah I’ll watch for her. But actually, even though I like William, his character is kind of bland and his acting isn’t 100%. In fact, I have a love hate relatioship with this drama. Nicky Wu’s been my fav character so far, and even though he’s so despicable, I’m totally on his side. Otherwise, I pretty much hate everything else (except ZLY…actually I kind of want to see her together with the perverted demon dude in white), but I still can’t stop watching it.

  15. 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

Ep 10 kiss scene with ZYL and william was hot XD do u know when ep 11 coming out ?

    • 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

They air the next batch on the 22nd of every month. That’s more manageable.

  16. 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

Enjoy the storyline. Watched 5 episodes so far. Really like the story line. Thanks for the share

  17. 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

any1 know when eng subs are coming out finish 20 episodes but dont understand the story just looked @ the pictures So far hype for nxt month 10 episodes tho.

  18. 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

I reached epi 20 but don’t understand chines. Hmm….when will English sub come out? anyway can’t find next epi. Zhao YiLing is the reason I watch this drama. I’m a big fan of her since drama Boss and Me. Her act is really good and emotion. I don’t know why but after watch 20 epi, I feel that ZLY love William than he loves her. How can he attack her when he see those good guys try till kill her, cuz she killed some of them? whatever those good guy started it first. How can he so angry to her? Can’t he believe?
A bit dissapointed about William but still want him and ZLY end up together. Pls…..let them together till end 🙂

    • 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes

Says on Viki they are waiting for the DVD uncut version, which is not the same as the Iquiyi TV cut, which will probably be out around Dec 31st 2015, so no subs for a while looks like but they are gathering the team, notes and side projects like lyrics…

  19. 48 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Zu (S) Episodes
