Synopsis: Yun Zhong Ge as known as Song in the Clouds is a sequel to Ballad of the Desert. During the Western Han Dynasty, an eight-year-old Emperor Zhao of Han meets a girl Huo Yun Ge (daughter of Huo Qu Bing and Jin Yu from Ballad of the Desert), who rescued him from the cold of the desert. Ten years later, Huo is now a beautiful young woman, who could not forget the boy she saved. However, she mistook another Liu Bing Yi as Emperor Liu Fu Ling. Yun Ge helplessly watched him marry Xu Ping Jun. The heartbroken Huo later meets a handsome Meng Jue, only later to find herself embroiled in a power struggles within the imperial palace.     In my opinion, you shouldn’t waste your time with this drama. Seeing how no one even says thank-you in here, it must not be well-liked. There are other dramas in the fall for you to pick up. ^_^

      Not gonna lie, the feeling is not so great when there’s no support.

      It’s tough on my heart cause I like every single one of the cast chosen by Yumama. He somehow managed to gather all the favorite kids in one show. T__T

        It’s definitely frustrating, because I ADORE Lu Yi, and then he goes and joins Yu Zheng’s band. I always end up giving his productions a shot because he gathers my fav actors and actresses…and then completely ruins the plot and directing. I just have no words for how badly he’s let me down each and every single time. For Yang Rong to play lead and do an awesome show, since she’s such a great actress, but she can’t seem to walk out of Yu Zheng’s sinking ship. Sigh. I’ll probably still end up trying Yumama’s productions in the future; I must be a masochist.

    Thanks for the upload although I’m not watching it ^^;;;; I tried the first episode on youtube and OMG I got so confused. I’m not fluent in chinese, but I can usually understand enough to know what’s going on in general… I found myself so utterly lost with the beginning of episode 1, it was horribly edited and all over the place. I literally understood nothing of what was going on in the palace. Then came the whole desert thing which so fake and the CGI was absolutely disastrous. I lost simply lost all interest and even forgot about it after taking a break. If I do happen to resume it it’ll be on fast forward for sure (only stopping for Yang Rong), but for now it’s not happening.

    I wonder if ppl have a better impression of it? Maybe I’m just too harsh and it gets majorly better?

        Sorry to say, there is no better first impression. I was confused and lost, and I can tell you it had nothing to do with the lack of subs. It’s…messy. It feels like a hot mess. I have to say though, contrary to my expectations, Angelababy’s pretty decent. In fact, most of the actors/actresses are fine…can’t say the same about the production though.
        Final conclusion, I find it hard to believe that there could be a good first impression. I’m sure a lot of people will continue watching out of loyalty to the book, desperately hoping that it’ll get better, but I hold little faith for Yu Zheng’s productions. I promised myself that Romance of the Condor Heroes would be my last attempt. I mean, how wrong could you go with Jin Yong? Turns out, in Yumama’s hands, anything and everything will go wrong.

      Episode 1 was background for the love story that ensues in the subsequent episodes. Luckily their is no more CGI after ep 1. Trust me the next few eps get better as it follows the story of them grown up. Basically in ep 1 she meets Ling Ge Ge and promises to find him in Chang An when she grows up. She gives him her shoe ie she agrees to marry him. Meanwhile she gives her other shoe to her savior who is the other little boy. Though of course, she doesn’t know until she is older that she had just promised to marry two guys.

      Acting wise angelababy is pretty cute as Yun Ge despite her character being pretty whiny. However I feel that Chen Xiao is not up to par… He has lost the fire and charm he had in Lu Zhen.

      I tried watching this too, but didn’t enjoy it. ZLY is only a cameo, so maybe she’ll appear in 1 episode or 2. I don’t think she appears yet

    Not too impressed with the series so far but I do have to agree that it gets better. Really like Lu Yi as Ling Gege and really cannot wait for their reunion . The drama is very visually stunning and Angelababy is very cute as Yun Ge.

    The CGI is atrocious and the childhood storyline being the backdrop to all the love story there is could have been executed much better. Who is with me on this one ?

      Agreed hahaha! But well China’s CGI, can’t expect much! I was so bored by the childhood story and it’s so weird they added that side story with Fann Wong! But Yu Zheng pretty much did follow the novel for the childhood story but I agree that it could have been better…

    Yu Zheng did well tweaking the plot a bit to make it flow better on screen, because I believe that if he had followed the novel wholesale, it would have been a bit difficult for viewers to follow the story and also to understand how 孟珏 fell in love with 云歌.
    But, the drama is too draggy… even though he did KINDA follow the novel, he added quite a lot of useless scenes that only make the drama less appealing… I almost choked when I saw the part where 孟珏 brought 云歌 to see 九爷; wonder why in the world they added that scene and made 九爷 seemed like a normal homey old man, he could even walk!…
    Also 陵哥哥 became this desperate kinda guy…
    Angelababy did quite well acting as 云歌 though there are some parts that felt a bit 出戏, but praises for her!
    I wouldn’t recommend the drama for now, it’s simply too boring for me,maybe because I have read the novel, but I would definitely follow the drama when it finally gets to the climax where all the characters finally meet and know each other’s true identity.

    I absolutely dislike Yu Zheng’s additions to the story. The story with the kids and Fann Wong was so ridiculous and out of place. I understand he wanted to show the bond the kids developed, but everything was so cringey.

    Also, the parts where LFL and YG met in the woods was kinda sweet but so facepalm inducing. I think YZ is trying to go for the heartbreaking route where you have two people, who are pining for one another, meet yet are unable to recognize each other. In theory, this could work…except for the fact that YG is slightly idiotic and is so quick to assume LBY is LFL while completely ignoring how familiar the guy who is actually LFL is. Then they both talk to one another about waiting for this person and somehow don’t ask each other who they’re waiting for. THEN THEN LFL somehow knows YG is not named Bai He but he isn’t sure but he feels like Bai He who is actually YG reminds him of YG and yet doesn’t ask anything about this…and it’s like…please just stop. It’s so frustratingly dumb and really disconnects the audience from the characters because of how dumb they are.

    Other dislikes: over-the-top makeup, Hong Yi not wearing a red dress (lol), Liu He looking like a creep, “cheap” production feel. There’s a scene where YG “falls” down a hill…ok, that land was totally flat. Just because you shot it at an angle doesn’t make it look less flat.

    I think Yun Zhong Ge itself is a pretty slow and boring book that picks up after the first half. I was fond of it because everything seemed really bittersweet, but that’s mainly due to the bonds that the characters developed with one another. I don’t really feel any chemistry from the cast so the drama itself is just really bland.

    Hello! I’ve been on this site for a while now but it’s my first time comenting so yeah hi 🙂

    I just started this drama yesterday and I’m not the type to skip parts in dramas but it was too draggy for me so I wont probably recommend this until the good parts come about. I actually liked the first episode alot, it was nice to really established the bond in the beginning which really makes the watcher feel for the characters when they grow older. Though @visestan i have to agree w u that the show’s pretty confusing, but only afterwards! Haha i had a hard time figuring out who was who when they grew up.

    Though i will continue watching this drama, hopefully it doesn’t disappoint. I’ve got two things making me excited, 1. How does LBY get the jade pendant 2. How and what will happen when they finally meet

    honestly I’m just waiting to see Liying cameo because her stills look freaking amazing..almost think this drama could have had a better chance if Liying was the lead since Du Chen and Lu Yi were great casting choices but I don’t know why Chen Xiao is rubbing me the wrong way in this drama I was expecting smart charming Ah Zhao again…Angelababy is beautiful but her acting is so-so but it is still early maybe it will get better I hope hopefully this doesn’t turn out like the awful disaster ROCH was
