i cheated and watched the tv version….and yes!! sha jie jie is the man this week indeed!! he used up all his power to open the gate to release qian gu… no wonder why bai zi hua wouldn’t do it…. OMG.

now he’s gonna age and shrivel up… 🙁 🙁 🙁 qian gu, i hate you! i hate you!! everything you do is for that jerk shifu and you rarely show appreciation for the people who always risk their life for yours!! ughhhh!!!

the tv version only has 8 episodes left and she’s still the stupid mary sue…. omg……

i can’t believe she stopped escaping when the men who abused her was twirled around…. she wanted to save them??!! is she crazy? she is…

Me too. The main leads of this drama is so frustrating. The supporting characters are all so interesting but the main character are so annoying. I want more of Sha Jie Jie!!!

I seriously don’t get how there are two girls who’s crazy in love with bai zi hua. I mean there’s zero attractiveness in this Bai Zi Hua character. He’s so cold, boring and mean. Moreover Wallace Huo is a very good looking and he usually very attractive in his other role. But here he played the role of immortal/God too well that I can’t believe that he’s able to love and feel emotion just like normal human being. He really doesn’t deserve all the love from those two girls. I can relate more to other “imperfect/semi antagonist” character like Sha Jie Jie and Dong Fang. It make more sense if Qian Qu fall in love with either of them and they deserve her love more than Bai Zi Hua. I mean what exactly has shifu done to make qian qu love him so much.

Also I hate Man Tian so much. I hope man tian will get some karma she deserved. Disagree with Shuo feng last word. The way she smirks and enjoy Qian Qu torture is not normal. SHe’s a psychopath.

Theres 10 episodes left of the tv version. I think it’s just that she couldn’t help who she loves. When Fresh Guo Guo wrote this… she was still a teenager too. So, it’s natural Qian Gu acts like that. Thats how her character in the novel is. She only loves Shifu, and she didn’t ask other people to do so much for her. She never knew what could happen. Never wanted to hurt others. Yes, she may be naive, but she’s also very brave. She wasn’t afraid to sacrifice herself. It’s just that others wouldn’t give up on her and wanted to sacrifice themselves for her, just like she wanted to sacrifice herself for Shifu. I think its just like the first opening song says: When the love is too deep, it makes people go crazy. Theres so much love, hate, anger… and that’s why this JoF is so good.

Qian Gu did so much for love, Sha Jie Jie and DongFang also did the same. You can’t fault her for not loving them back, she does appreciate all they’ve done… but she can’t give them what they want. No matter how good DongFang or Sha Jie Jie are, her heart only has Bai Zi Hua and has no room for anyone else. She’s only living for Bai Zi Hua right now.

    • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

im not asking her to love them back, im not faulting her for not loving them back. its okay to not love them back. but when has she done something for them? show appreciation? by verbally thanking them? that’s not enough.

      at least, not anymore.

she’s so one-note it’s frustrating as we watch her doing the same wrong thing over and over, thinking that it won’t hurt anyone. she knows there are people who care for her, she knows they will come to her aid no matter what. which means, as a “good” person that she wants to be, she should think of the consequences of each of her action. does she? nope. she recklessly does things without thinking. that’s no longer brave, but idiotic.

that opening song is made for their love story so that line is incorporated for a reason. but like i and many others have said….we don’t see the deep love that we are supposed to see so we are not on the same page as the story anymore once that foundation was never developed.

personally, JOF is not good, it’s a train of doom and im only watching because i like certain characters and would want to stay loyal until the writer kills them off. she wrote this when she was a teenager and has years to fix the writing. she has many likable characters but they all fall behind the most one-note OTP ever.

What does she gotta do? They aren’t that important to her. I see the deep love between Qian Gu and Bai Zi Hua develop from the beginning. Bai Zi Hua is the only one to care for Qian Gu without any motivation i.e. she reminds Sha Jie Jie of his sister, DongFang pushes her to Bai Zi Hua to bring about his downfall. Bai Zi Hua stayed with her to celebrate her birthday, was the first person who was kind to her other than her father, her reason to live after she went to Zu Mountain and the sect had been killed off. He was there for her to protect her or she wouldn’t even have made it to Chang Liu. In the battle with Seven Murder at Zu Mountain, she would’ve died if he didn’t see her in the mirror and rushed there. The other two immortals literally said 1 sentence about the dire situation, when they turned around, he was gone. Zi Hua gave her Abstain Thoughts Sword to protect her in her journey to Mount Zu. And wasted 100s of years of cultivation to cure her after she was poisoned by NMT. There are so many things Bai Zi Hua did for Qian Gu, that he did for no motivation… in her heart, Zi Hua is incomparable. He sheltered her, helped her grow and become the person she is, and is the most important person in her life. He also grew an attachment to her. He wouldn’t have been poisoned in the first place if he didn’t suck the poison from her. Everything she did for him is justified. Yes, he should’ve done more for her after she stole the DD devices. But, he’s a very principled person who can’t justify putting his emotions/needs over the world’s. Sha Jie Jie was already a demon and DongFang never cared about the 6 realms/world. They had no obligations unlike Bai Zi Hua’s heavy responsibilities/burdens as an immortal in charge of Chang Liu. There are so many subtle ways they developed their love from eating together, her brushing his fair, travelling together, and simply keeping each other company for years. The other guys either followed her or visited her once in a while + disappeared as easily they appeared. Very suspicious at times. So it’s just not the same. In real life, you wouldn’t fall for someone or do a big gesture for someone just because they saved you/followed you around over someone who’s been your side, living with you, caring for you constantly for years

        • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

*gasps* how could you say they are not important! they have done just as many things as bai zi hua! they are important to propel the story forward! honestly, without them, the story doesn’t stand anymore.

and that isn’t fair, bai zi hua isn’t an angel. he DOES HAVE MOTIVATION. he wanted to change his fated calamity, he wanted to be the first one to survive his fated calamity. he’s arrogant. principled person is just another word for one-dimensional, an easy way for the writer to keep his character doing the same thing despite everything else telling him not to.

will the world die without bai zi hua? i doubt it. from what we have seen, the seven murder faction isnt’ even a problem. it’s literally one faction against many sects.

the others have done many things for her just as much as bai zi hua, who showed up when others have started everything for him. he stayed with her on her bday out of guilt for not saving her father. lol. sha jie jie is only a few seconds behind zi hua during the battle at chang liu. and dong fang wouldn’t have hurt her in any case and would make sure she makes her behind up to chang liu for his revenge plan to work. and he’s always the first to come to her aid when bai zi hua is not around. and like i said before, wallace and zhao li zing failed to have the chemistry that i wanted them to have so all the deep love fall right through my brain. i don’t feel for them. at most, it’s the platonic shifu-disciple bond.

WHAT SHE could’ve done is sit and think the situation through. the pros and cons. at least show us that she’s indeed matured over the years with whatever bai zi hua taught her. she doesn’t. she’s one-note and only does thing out of love for bai zi hua. is that an interesting character? not for me. a heroine i could root for? not for me. what kind of growth did she have anyway? recklessly doing things? the only time she showed some backbone is when bai zi hua is not around. which is when i like hua qian gu. she’s meek and acts like a dumb puppy around him. together, they are boring.

100 years of cultivation is nothing for bai zi hua. he’s immortal and have lived for thousand of years. that isn’t the sacrifice it’s made out to be. compared to sha jie jie who has used up all his power in this episode, it’s incomparable. and this time he has no motivation to do it except he genuinely cares for her.

and seeing how you know about other deaths, you’ve read the books? will she torture nmt like i hope? we don’t know yet. she better or her transformation will be unimpressive to me.

After last week’s episode I got really mad at BZH and Qian Gu, and as I rewatch some of the older episodes I agree that sometimes Qian Gu can be quite reckless. When she sets her mind to something, she seeks to finish it without realizing the true meaning of her actions. But about BZH, I realize that we, as viewers tend to not pity him as much for the sacrifices that he have made for Qian Gu. BZH is put out there as this supernatural being with immense power that when BZH does something for Qian Gu, we take it as if BZH is not doing enough. For example, how he used up 100+ years of his cultivation on Qian Gu and yet, some of us as viewers think that what he is doing is not enough. He took 60+ nails for Qian Gu and lost much of his powers. He also uses his body to hide Qian Gu’s demonic power. Every time Qian Gu uses her power it would cause him immense pain and put his life on the line, but yet people continue to demand more from BZH. This is almost like a ‘who can and is willing to sacrifice the most for Qian Gu’ race. The one who deserves Qian Gu is base on how much they are willing to sacrifice for her. BZH hold the whole world on his shoulders so everything that he does have to be done in the dark so that no one sees nor notice what he has done. SQM and Dongfang does not have as much responsibilities as BZH so they can be more out spoken about matters and follow their heart more while BZH have to consider all the possible outcome of his actions and how it impact the world. I guess rewatching and reading other people’s opinion just really made me more open minded to who BZH is and how BZH loves.

        • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

it’s not even a race anymore because qian gu doesn’t see other people in her eyes. as you can see, we are not discussing who deserves her anymore but hua qian gu as a character, whether she’s a heroine worth rooting for.

          1) 100 years of his power is nothing if he’s immortal and has more 100s years to give.

          2) he took the nails because it’s his responsibility as her shifu. he’s injured yea but he always has backup power sources in others, always ready to give him their energy

          3) uses his body to hide her power – he didn’t have to, it’s his choice to inflict pain because he feels as if it’s his responsibility for failing as her shifu, resulting in her reckless action causing the big mess.

i used to pity bai zi hua, but not anymore. after he sits his behind and refuses to let others save qian gu from the wasteland and didn’t even say anything to his hypocrite elder brother for pushing a young girl of 20 into a place where she could be assaulted in more than one way by over a hundred, filthy men. the thought still makes me feel dirty.

im open-minded but i have said before, the foundation of the OTP is weak = nothing sells for me. their actions for each other appear weak and illogical at times.

can’t believe i said so much about this drama in one post. im outta here!

        • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

Its not a race in Qian Gu’s eyes because she will always love BZH, no matter this life time or her next. But what I’m saying is that it is a race in the viewer’s eyes. “Who ever sacrifices for Qian Gu the most and prove their love for her is the one who deserves her.” Also, like I said about BZH being seen as this superbeing with immense superpower, viewers sees his sacrifices as less compare to Dongfang and SQM. Also the things he did for her, he didn’t have to but he chose to. Like Dongfang said, BZH had other option but he chose to punish himself along with Qian Gu to keep her alive. He punished her himself because he knows that he alone can guarantee her her life because if it was up to other people they would kill her no doubt. If he let her go free or escape before punishment other people won’t just let her go free. He, like SQM and DF sacrifice their life to help her..its just that DF was the one who actually died after sacrificing himself and SQM became a ghost while BZH became crazy and went mental.

        • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

Even though I defend BZH I still really like the other guys too. I love how selfless SQM is and how he’s the ruler of the demon realm but yet he’s one of the less selfish ones and does nothing but care for Qian Gu. I like Dongfang’s inner struggle with feeling guilty for what he has done. All these guys are wonderful, but I think that I will always prefer BZH more.

        • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

but could you blame the viewers for comparing them? the author sets up the story that way, big and small sacrifices. they each know the results of their action but bai zi hua always holds back on the big ones, the only time where he actually does something without thinking about the world was sucking the poison out of her, and i will give him that.

he was the first to know she’s thrown in wasteland but doesn’t do anything about it.

bai zi hua links himself to the seal of her power because he feels responsible as her shifu. so that makes sense, i wouldn’t call that a sacrifice. he could’ve let sha jie jie take her before the punishment because honestly, no other sect leaders would dare go to seven murder faction to demand her back. they are all chickens – big talk and no action, that’s a fact. but he didn’t, he, the mighty bai zi hua, wants to show the world he’s impartial even to his own disciple and punished her publicly.

yea, he let her live but at what cost to her emotional/physical well-being? the endless suffering and torture? sometimes, dying is much easier and qian gu said so herself at wasteland… “why didn’t shifu killed me”

all the guys are wonderful but i will never see bzh like book fans do.

        • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

It was soo heartbreaking seeing Sha Jie Jie go like that! OMG. He really is selfless and truly gave up everything ambition for Qian Gu, the way that he wished he could’ve done with his dead sister. Tears :'(

        • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

When you say BZH lets Qian Gu live but at the cost of her emotional/physical well being is also the same as Qian Gu cursing BZH to live at the cause of his emotional/mental problems. Qian Gu went through great emotional pain because of BZH, but Qian Gu also cause BZH to go crazy after cursing him to eternity. The OTP is very good at hurting each other emotionally which stemmed from misunderstandings.

        • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

          >>>The OTP is very good at hurting each other emotionally which stemmed from misunderstandings.

Yes, and I wonder why we are supposed to cheer up and support them.

        • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

then might I ask….why did she curse him? she would kiss the floor he walks on.

there is order to everything O. She tortures him because he allowed her torture to begin, leading to her transformation. it’s all his fault from the start. you can’t blame her for FINALLY taking control of her life and live as the demon god, now could you?

        • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

The OTP’s love is a tragedy stemmed from misunderstanding and consequences of committed actions. Some viewers cheer for them because of their tragic fate and for the angst/forbidden feeling. To be honest, I don’t really know why Qian Gu would curse him to eternity, but maybe it could be that Qian Gu was mad at BZH’s indecisiveness. There is always the constant battle of her or the world and he didn’t want to give up any. He knew that it was the world or her so he chose to do his last duty in protecting the world and killing her and committing suicide to escape from everything with her. Also, I love the fact that she transform to the Demon God and finally mature. I don’t blame her for torturing him because he did inflict torture upon her too. All I’m saying is that it’s not all of BZH’s fault. Dongfang was the one who pushed Qian Gu to BZH for his own revenge plan. Qian Gu was the one who fell for BZH first. ZX tried to poison Qian Gu which led to BZH getting poison instead and Qian Gu stealing the Holy Devices. Because of all the actions committed, their consequences caught up to them. Example: ZX living knowing that she caused Qian Gu to steal the Holy Devices to save BZH. Dongfang living with guilt for pushing Qian Gu to her doom. If other people haven’t meddled in BZH and Qian Gu would’ve been fine, but because of selfish ambitions of other people Qian Gu and BZH had to feel the repercussion of the actions. That’s why I like SQM because he truly is the selfless one out of the lot.

        • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

LOL, how funny that BZH-HQG tragedy is the result of all other peoples’ actions. True, DF is the one who pushes HQG to BZH. How does he do it? By suggesting that she goes to Chang Liu and be the disciple of BZH, and making sure that she can pass all the entrance tests. But even for the latter his intervention is limited to the second test (the dream), because the rest are all HQG’s own attempts.

He doesn’t make HQG fall in love with BZH and get obsessed with him. As DF, he often mocks BZH and doesn’t even hide his contempt in front of HQG (though in a joking manner).

He does have a significant role in telling HQG – as Yu Xiu Jun – that the only way to save BZH is through the 9 deity instruments. On the other hand, as DFYQ, he warns HQG about the consequences to unseal the instruments, and even tries to stop her. (Whether he’s faking it is another story).

In the virtual cave, he tries to kill the demon god, but HQG — who for some inexplicable reason has bonded with the demon teen — stops him.

IMO, HQG matures not when she transforms into the demon goddess, but during her time in the Wasteland.

But I agree, the only one who loves HQG unconditionally is Sha Jiejie. And this episode breaks my heart 🙁

        • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

I’ve been ranting to defend DF (LOL) but didn’t make the point. The point is, the tragedy is the consequence of obsessive love (and recklessness). Other people may have contribution in catalyzing the events, but in the end I’m afraid HQG has called for it herself.

        • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

I think that Dongfang was the one to planted the seed of the tragedy. He continued to water it for a while, but after befriending Qian Gu and falling for her he wanted to stop and he did stop..except the other key players in this tragedy didn’t want to stop and consequences caught up to them. I think that he felt guilty for what he’s done to Qian Gu and also because he loves her he decided to stick with her until very the end..which led to him sacrificing his life for her. This is the characteristic that I love the most about Dongfang.

        • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

Dong Fang may have watered the plant but don’t forget yall it’s Bai Zi Hua who showed up on Qian Gu’s doorstep and planted the seed as Mo Bing. Then there’s the aspect of fated calamity so who is the one pulling the string? The dead Chang Liu’s Sect Leader?

She was tortured for years, O, how could she not hate and curse him for eternity? You really don’t understand where she comes from? She was young and vulnerable, and being thrown in that condition, how could anyone come out not insane and driven for revenge?

        • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

OFC Qian Gu would be driven for revenge especially after all the things she’s been through. I am happy that she’s going to take revenge on all those who had hurt her and kill her love ones. But even though she may claim to hate him she will still only have eyes for her sifu.

  3. 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

Plus, Qian Gu eventually become a demon goddess after DongFang and TangBao’s death and Sha Jie Jie became the living dead. They caused her to cut off all relations with Bai Zi Hua. She did torture Bai Zi Hua and NMT too.

    • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

I’m not looking forward to watching DF & Tang Bao die? the father & daughter ? But yea Im so looking forward to MY NMT in the torture chamber HHMP

    • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

Since we are in this topic abt XG only has her eyes on shifu and not SJJ, DF & Lang Gege. Correct me if Im wrong. Didnt XG started liking BZH from the beginning as “MO BING” ? Her heart was already set from then on. Then she finds out Mo Bing is Shifu. No matter what she already has shifu’s bell in her ? hence she cant let go.

Girls… we fall in love too quick sometimes LOL

  4. 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

Sha Jiejie is so awesome! I wish the fight between him and Mo Yan was longer so he could beat him up some more. xD I would have loved to see Sha Qian Mo fighting Bai Zi Hua’s junior brother. I wanted to see Sha Jiejie’s sword in action again. I like how he’s trying to talk sense into Bai Zi Hua and even teaming up with Dong Fong to rescue Hua Qian Gu. Despite all the power he commands, Bai Zi Hua is unable or unwilling to get her out. Not sure why he thought leaving her in a place full of criminals and murderers would be the ideal thing to do. Even the beast he sent to look after Hua Qian Gu dropped her off at Zhu Ran’s place and never came back to check on her. :O

*gets the tissues ready* Sha Jiejie’s noble sacrifice is coming up…..

    • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

*uses up all the tissues* I knew it was coming, but I didn’t expect it to be so heart wrenching. SQM’s “final” moments were golden.

So HQG’s tears made SQM young again? Was he originally dead and she brought him back to life (barely) with her tears? Someone please tell me what was written on the back of his ice coffin.

      • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

Got this from another forum (this is written on the ice coffin)

        千年雪化,待君重來
Thousand years melting snow, awaiting for my lord to return.

          Thank you so much, lenje!

Oh! How sad yet romantic. HQG will wait as long as it takes for SQM to return. Wait. Does this officially confirm that he’s not dead? *holding my breath*

        • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

QG? I thought the inscription is from Eyebrow Minion?! He luuurves our Jiejie very much. And besides QG doesn’t call him “lord” , just “Jiejie”

      • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

        @nell123

Eh? I remember QG telling Sha Jiejie to wait for her to return. So I thought the inscription on the ice coffin was written by QG as her way of saying that she’ll wait for him to wake up no matter how long it takes.

But regardless who wrote it, I’m praying he wakes up soon and not just towards the very end. I saw a picture of him talking to QG in her demoness form. I hope it’s really him and not his ghost. 😮

  5. 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

Like I said, they are not important to her as Bai Zi Hua. That’s the novel + script dictated to be. And Bai Zi Hua is the one to chop off NMT’s arm. And Qian Gu and Zhu Ran torture NMT with worms, crawling all over her body. Makes living worse than death for her basically. Don’t know if the drama will have all that, since a lot gets censored. But, she does torture them

  6. 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

Like I said, they are not as not important to her as Bai Zi Hua. Of course, they matter to her and the story. But her transformation doesn’t come immediately. The novel + script dictated to her to be this way. It’s hard to be reasonable, I guess, in that situation. She has to completely lose all faith in Bai Zi Hua before she turns into the demon goddess. I believe it should happen in today’s episode.

What do you mean “Sha Jie Jie is the MAN THIS WEEK!!”, Kappy? Jiejie is the man every week. Ain’t his fault this show doesn’t appreciate his awesomeness. 😀 I looooove Jiejie! It was especially awesome when he kicked Hot Shifu’s butt and then he and DF were talking and totally ignoring BZH. 🙂 yes, Shifu, you made such a mess, we need the “bad” guys to come and fix it. Now go play gardener and leave the serious/meaningful/ plot-moving stuff to other people. :)))) Tbh, at this point I just hope DF takes TB and let’s JIejie obliterate Changliu completely. That’s how much I don’t care about them. They can go to hell and take NMT with them.

Sooooo, I watch the cut version and was wondering what’s the deal with this new little girl? I never knew we needed more people we don’t care about to steal precious air time. We have Tang Bao, Demon boy, and a whole bunch of other people whose death can be used as a plot device to make QG snap. We don’t need to waste time on unimportant people, NMT already serves that function.

Other thing I liked this week, after Jiejie’s awesomeness (<3), is DF. He is also awesome. ( I know, took me looong, long time to realize that but now I saw the light 🙂 ) I liked his interactions with ZR and QG at the desert.

Also, I continue to like ZR. I know he is a baddie but he is hot and some of the things he says make sense, as twisted as they are.

P.S. Please, persevere, Kappy ! I read and appreciate everything you write. Even if you don't want to do full recap, we can still talk about the episodes in the comments. 🙂

Yeah — I forgot the deal with that girl too. Maybe it’ll make it into the tv version, but isn’t she like, the child that HQG saved or something? So she worships HQG? I forget how it works, but I remember that she’s important and that the audience is supposed to find her very sympathetic.

      • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

You Ruo loves Qian Gu like a mother, and she becomes like a daughter to Qian Gu and Bai Zi Hua. She does worship HQG, but she’s really HQG’s disciple. You Ruo was supposed to be a spirit released from the jade necklace Meng Xuan Leng gives to HQG. But in the drama, she’s just a mortal girl (daughter of a sect leader).

        • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

well, whatever she is, whoever she is, what purpose could she serve in the current tv show narrative. QG already has “children” (TB, Demon boy). What new, magical and plot-moving thing can she do that can’t be done by one of her previous children?! I don’t see any need of her at the moment.

        • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

She plays the role of causing Qian Gu to go back to BZH. After Qian Gu escape she goes to see BZH because she thought BZH got himself a new disciple in place of her, but in truth BZH took You Ruo as Qian Gu’s own disciple and not his.

        • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

Oh, I get that 🙂 I just think it’s unnecessary. Considering how obsessed she is with him, she could have decided to go see him just because, or because she heard (via TB, 11, ZX, these are all people I/we 😀 know and prefer and are currently underused) that he pukes blood again and needs to heal him. 🙂 . It would lead to the same result without wasting time on unimportant stuff when they have so much left to go through.

        • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

im with nell, at this point, we need character DEVELOPMENT, not character addition, especially for a reason as shallow as having her comeback to bai zi hua. does it even matter to her anymore at that point? there are other reasons for her to go back to chang liu if the author wanted to…. for her to go back because he accepted a new disciple is just showing us how hopelessly obsessed she is to her shifu.

        • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

You Ruo’s character is quite important to the development of the story + revealing of feelings by both sides. Both in the novel and in the drama. There’s no way the author would’ve have left her out because HQG was going to leave with DongFang until she heard about YR. In the novel, HQG spent years in the wastelands (*spoiler*strippednakedandhung, etc) and really was willing to leave with DF. BZH had said he will only take 1 disciple in this lifetime, and that was an imp part of the story (to HQG, BZH and NMT). So, when HQG heard about YR, she just had to rush back to Chang Liu to see for herself. It’s really like how Zi Xun rushed to Chang Liu to check out HQG since she was the first and only disciple of BZH and also a girl. BZH also tells YR stories about HQG. It really shows how much he thinks about HQG, what he really felt during the years he spent with her, and how much he cares for her. Later on, it’s YR who secretly peeks at moments between HQG and BZH. And serves as a character who provides some light-heartness/humour after Tang Bao is gone. BZH and HQG both dote on her and treat her like a daughter. They become like a family. YR was the only person BZH could openly talk about HQG with during the years she was imprisoned (for her own safety).

They have done a lot changes for the series, deleting and merging characters, I don’t see why they can’t do the same with You Ruo. With only a few episodes left, just pick whatever important plot she has, give it to Little Moon or another existing character, done.

    • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

      Hahahaha love your comment.
I also Love jiejie from day 1 and DF I love his character. When he said something like “I didnt expect that I would fall in love with you” Oooh DF I feel you ?. As for this new girl… why even bring her in when the world is falling apart? Really what’s Screw Face MY’s intention?

    • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

I was wrong Nell. Sha Jie Jie is the best. I’ve dried my tear ducts for this week. Am not looking forward to the day my favorite Dong Fang has to go… Maybe they will be friends in heaven. Isn’t it ironic that Dong Fang’s song was playing during Jie Jie’s final moment? Two stabs to my heart.

And I agreed with you. The new little girl is there to take up precious screen time, as there’s always a reason for Qian Gu to return to Chang Liu regardless of where/whom she’s with. She’s obsessed with Shifu and won’t be able to separate for long (the addiction is real). Additional characters at this point is useless and unnecessary, especially for the drama where everything is condensed.

Plus, do we REALLY need more scenes to prove their feelings for each other? Nope! She defied the safety of the world for him and he already sucked out the most poisonous poison from her body. Case is closed, in my opinion.

    • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

Jiejie is the man every week. Ain’t his fault this show doesn’t appreciate his awesomeness

      THIS TRUTH RIGHT HERE

Seriously Jiejie is the best Goddamn thing about this whole series. Whether it’s the book or the drama, nothing and nobody beats Jiejie’s awesomeness <3

      • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

        @shimokuren

“Seriously Jiejie is the best Goddamn thing about this whole series.”

I totally agree! If a guy treated me so well and were to sacrifice everything he had for me, I’d devote the rest of my life to him.

I hope Sha Jiejie comes back soon. They cut out the part of him waking up in QG’s arms in his youthful state before falling asleep again. Why did he fall into a coma when he was already restored to his youth? Couldn’t QG have used her inner powers to heal him if he was still low on energy? Or do they want us viewers to think Sha Jiejie is dead and not just sleeping?

        • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

Sleeping Beauty ? Jie Jie is waiting for Brow man to kiss him. At the next Awards nite, jie jie has to win BEST ACTOR. They have to give him that.

        • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

          @EM

I wonder what would’ve happened if HQG had kissed “Sleeping Beauty” on the lips. 😛

        • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

          @Lyra

Eyebrow Minion would go berserk from jealousy, kill QG on the spot and end this whole story prematurely. 😀

  8. 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

I never doubt Shifu BZH’s love for HQG, but what kind of love he has is another topic. I actually think he does a lot for HQG, e.g. covering up for her time and again.

I also think it’s understandable that HQG puts him on high pedestal and is deep in obsession. Understandable doesn’t mean it is normal or acceptable. HQG does anything in her power to stay living with BZH. The novel mentions — and she says herself in one line in the drama — that she tries hard to remain appearing like a child forever (she even stops growing in the novel), for she fears that BZH will tell her to leave once he considers her an adult. I guess I should pity HQG, but I dunno, she irritates me in that account. (I remember I was also so annoyed by her obsession with Mo Bing in the earlier episodes, but she was still very young and cute at that time, so all is forgiven).

I like HQG more when she’s in the Wasteland. She’s badass, and has matured more and faster in her relatively short time there than her entire time in Chang Liu. If I should blame BZH, I would blame him for not having prepared HQG to be independent and not overly clingy to him.

    • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

I 100% agree. BZH does do a lot for HQG but he is often over patronising (as a result of stubborness) which really limits HQG’s room for development. Now that HQG is seperated from Shi Fu, I hope the future episodes can finally showcase a different HQG. She is, as you mentioned, almost insane as her obsession is totally unacceptable and extremely frustrating (especially on tv lol).

  9. 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

lenje, I ssooooo agree with your last sentence .I have thought about QH’s conduct and her attitude towards actions and the consequences from them. My general conclusion is also that it’s all BZH’s fault. 😀 He might be hot but he is bad teacher in many aspects.Even though he can help her develop super powers 😉 , he did a very poor job in teaching her how to use them.

He took in one socially isolated child with good heart that didn’t know how the world works, that knew nothing how relationships between people work, how to interact friends or enemies. She went to CL and had to learn via trial and error how to interact with others. Soon afterwards she became BZH’s student and was isolated from society again. All she knew about everything in the world is from him. And, tbh, BZH himself has VERY poor social skills. For one reason or another he is completely uninterested in the outside world, doesn’t even deal with CL’s day to day business, he is not really interested in understanding the reasons and motives of others. He lives by “bad is bad, good is good” and dispenses rewards and punishments depending on the outcomes of their actions. Such person can not teach a child how to gauge the meaning and consequences of it’s actions because abstract words as what is a crime and what is punishment can’t be understood without sufficient experience. That comes from living among people long enough. She needs to make mistakes of her own in order to learn from experience how the things she does might impact others in practice. Unfortunately the magnitude of her mistakes and their repercussions is so great that her whole life is basically greek tragedy level horribleness. Her friends suffer and die because of her , she also suffers and dies by the hands of her loved one. 🙁 Poor kid.

ohh man, that became waaay longer than intended … Must go to sleep.

Perfectly explained, Lenje and Nell. You guys made me cry again.

    EDIT//

Official Stills of our Demon Goddess! I’m just gonna say it, if she’s not badass and revenge-driven, she might as well not show up on my screen no more. Take Mo Yan’s head off his neck! That big hypocrite needs to get out of my sight. The others can wait.

    • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

Love Love the red dress. I see pictures of her cuddling Bai Zi Hua from the back and I’m not happy. If that’s what she does as a demon goddess…then I have no words for this story anymore. The angst is not even good because I’m not on the ship and can’t connect with them or their actions!

    • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

OMG! O_o Praises from Kaptain A aaaand Captain Picard ! 🙂 Best day ever !

Thank you for the pix , Kappy and , please, don’t cry! 🙂 We shall have our revenge soon …

      • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

I like how you commented on the social aspect of the drama because it’s seriously lacking and borders on the line of unrealistic, especially with Hua Qian Gu’s background and development as a character. It’s one of the writer’s weakness in creating a dynamic heroine for us to root for. You said it beautifully well and Captain Picard is crying in the corner. *PROUD*

    • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

      Here for Captain Picard! 🙂

Bleh Mo Yan needs to die but unfortunately in the book he doesn’t and still lives a happy life at the end. (IKR what is this gross injustice. This is one of the biggest disappointments of the book.)

I really want Demon Goddess to kill Mo Yan but I guess we fans can only wish. *sigh*

      • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Say it isn’t so!!! Nooooooooooooo!
My satisfaction with this drama is directly related to the suffering of 3 people. In specific order: 1. Hot Shifu, 2. NMT and 3. that as***le MY. If one of them get’s away without punishment ….. huuuhh :/

      • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

Mo Yan lives a happy life at the end? Am I reading correctly? That hypocrite doesn’t get punishment?!! Oh…. Life is unfair. I pray that the drama version would change that.

Off with the head is all I have to suggest!!

  11. 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

don’t worry girls.. our demon god will wake up soon and take revenge to all bad ass.. i Love To see how Demon God will torturing BZH.. sucked blood, biting.. or didn’t let him take on his cloths.. #nosebleed i love sha Je je like you all but still my favorite is couple is HQG and BZH, cause i can see the emotionless BZH can show off so much emotion when it linke to his belove disciple.. ( i can see how BZH much jeolousy towards DF and SQM when both of them get close to HQG, specially DF cause HQG have said to him that she fall in love with DF). so in my opinion this two OTP LOVE story is the main point that make much of fans watch this drama, altough some time i want to biting and torture BZH too cause his action towards HQG, but i difinetly see love in BZH to his belove student.. the interensting of this drama is by showing too much emotion, love and hate for all characters.. SQM,DF to HQG, XZS towards BZH, and HQG to BZH and BZH to HQG.. so for me untill now this is the best drama that i have been watch.. usually i don’t like sad and melo drama, but special for HQG i am become fans and addicted to watch every time airing.. and i am gonna sad when this drama end.. chiao Journey OF FLOWER teams.. chiao Zhao Liying, Wallace, Makhe, Zhan dang fang.. (this four are my favorite characters and actors in HQG drama)

  12. 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

She’s by far the most Gorgeous Demon Goddess I’ve seen in any tv films. She carry that red outfit like she owns the world. #ZLY

Hi Kap I know this isn’t the right place to say this but the comments section under HQG dl links seem to be disabled. The sub files you gave for eps 21 – 34 is missing the sub files for 31, 32 and 33. Lol – I was watching it and couldn’t find the subtiles for it and by god it’s the most intense parts! :’D So, just saying, can you check and reupload please?
Many thanks for doing it in the first place 😀

Oh dear, I’m glad to see Dong Fang a lot more on screen, but also devastated that we’ll be saying goodbye to him *bawling*. He’s counting his time and gradually losing his senses, but he’s focusing on how to make sure Hua Qian Gu will be safe. He doesn’t throw pity party. Just like Sha Jiejie 🙁

    • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

      I can’t Lenje. I can’t. 🙁

I rewatched the spoiler trailer and it finally dawned on my scattered brain cells who’s the murderer of Dong Fang. I’m unwilling to proceed.

      • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

Hang in there, Kap! Together we shall have enough strength to face this *hugs, fist to the air*. I’m savoring every scene with Dong Fang. I’m thrilled he gives the insufferable Ni Man Tian a lesson — for the second time! Of all the characters, he is the only one who has ever done that to her.

      • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

Ohh, maan, everyone is on DF Watch… 🙁
Do you know what I realized guys? After we say goodbye to DF, there will be no one else I like in this show. Jiejie is gone, DF will be gone soon, I am afraid about TB’s safety, Shifu has had a lobotomy and does nothing but whine. Me really no likey the current situation 🙁 Worse, the way things are going, I am loosing hope in our Demon Goddess.

        • 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

Same here. Am trying to be optimistic about the demon goddess. Looks like she’ll be doing some crazy things, (based on the spoilers), but a badass nonetheless. There is also hope Zhu Ran will confront Mo Yan.

  15. 71 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 41 – 44 “Escape.”

I honestly think Qian Gu is obsessed with her shifu because he was the first one to care about her besides her dad and shifu obviously cares about her but he’s so stubbron to stick to his motto that he ends up hurting Qian Gu. The demoness is kinda putting me off too, she looks better without her whole demon look but I’m glad that she’s going to start standing up for herself against her shifu. Hopefully, there’s going to be a happy ending for them.
