Official Trailer for The Legend of Zu brings kisses and backhugs

A press conference was held today. Beside cat-walking down the red carpet in their costumes and waving their designated weapons, the first official trailer was also released to the audience. I watched the fancam trailer and is still upset with some of William’s fangirls. The need to scream EVERY SINGLE TIME his face is shown on screen while ignoring the rest of the cast members is frustrating, to say the least (click here for the fuzzy fancam). What’s going on here?! If I were there, I would be screaming for everyone, loudest for my girl crush Ying Ying because she deserves much more support than what was shown! Tskk Tskk!!

– calms self down –

Enjoy the heavy batch of images and trailer at the end. 😉

Stills:

The trio – Nicky Wu, Zhao Li Ying, and William Chan. Looks like out male lead only has three hairstyles! Lol.

Vengo Gao. He’s sooooooooo tall! You will be seeing him Destined to Love You also. Ah, the hunks in that drama.

Our OTP. I wonder what William said because Li Ying glared at him and 10th Prince. She even raised her sword at their neck! 🙂

The Crew. I’m a little but surprised that the cast members are pretty small considering how big this drama is becoming.

Trailer:

  • A Revised Version (by zlidia and me) of the Synopsis: The Kun Lun sect has been a powerful and righteous leader in the martial arts world for some time. To save the world from the evil that is Lu Pao (Nicky Wu), the leader of the Kun Lun sect places a magical blood stone inside the body of our hero, Ding Yin (William Chan) in order to enhance his already gifted talents. As a result, Ding Yin stays at Zhu Mountain, working on building and controlling his powers. In a chance encounter, he meets Lu Pao’s daughter, Yu Wu Xin (Zhao Li Ying), who is the spitting image of his deceased wife. He initially uses her but they slowly fall in love. Things build up to many majestic battles between the good and evil sects involving betrayal, sacrifices, and deaths. Possessed by the Blood Demon, Ding Yin is able to kill Lu Pao, leaving Wu Xin heartbroken. Her love turns to hatred and hatred breeds vengeance.
  • In the trailer, Li Ying cries and tells her dad that it’s because she’s human and has flesh that she has feelings. The scene with William hugging her from behind, he asks her whether it’s worth it, forsaking her sect and family to be with him. Break her heart and see what happens, Ding Yin!
  • You guys know what I just found out days ago? There’s actually another drama adaption of the novels made in 2001 starring Steve Ma as Ding Yin (click for poster). I did not recognize the cast but once I listened to the themesong, recognition hit immediately! Ah, I marathoned it with a friend and finished it (fast forward button was used). I like the story better than the TVB version. It is more imaginative, less redundancy, more character development. And then the mid-way point came and everybody became stupid. Lol. I also finished one TVB version – the first one (1990). Silly ending as well! So many deaths and a waste of power and talent in the last scene. I have five episodes left of the sequel (1991).
  • I really hope this version has a decent ending and character development. Nicky! Don’t disappoint me!

you are a true zly’s fangirl!!! 3 versions of zu mountain series!! crazy girl!! lols.

william’s struggle in the trailer reminds me of li yi feng’s struggle in ancient sword. omg. can the ladies get a chance to be possessed by evil too? i hope li ying’s character has depth in here and not merely a vase flower / lover for ding yin. that would be sad!!

nicky looks angry all the time in the trailer. nice to see 10th prince reuniting with 4th prince!! 😛

the makeup, hairstyling and costumes for 99% of the actors are just dreadful. Nicki Wu and Zhao Li Ying look like scary wax figures.

China film market is like china manufacturing industry. Mass produce and rarely are there quality gems! It’s becoming truer recently with the china booming economic.

Another series, with flashy color, poor POOR make up & styling ( i don’t if they think that’s great, or they incapable of producing better make up/style) Everyone looks so plastic -ky and cheesy. The preview looks like a slight upgrade to a TVB production in the 90s.

The main problem with most of this China production is that put all effort on the flashy stuff – with the result end up looking half ass cheap most of the time. It’s rare to have a production that put effort on to details and good script! All flashy and no / lack substances

I think the costumes and styling look great. Nicky could have less make up and lose the blue lenses, but everyone looks nice and beautiful.

Its not only China thatbis flashy. Every country wants their productions to look the best with colorful costumes.

The drama hasnt come out yet and youre already callinhg it a bad script? Way to be presumptuous.

Nicky looks like a original Star Trek Klingon.

wow!!! this is tids and bits of Ancient Sword Fantasy. Except that one has a crappy ending. This one? Yet to know..

  6. 20 thoughts on “Official Trailer for The Legend of Zu brings kisses and backhugs

Wow, that was fast I feel like it just started filming not too long ago.

They look beautiful to me. Have never seen Zhao Li Ying more beautiful than she is in here. She got the right stylist this time around. ^^

Here’s a look at the younger actor playing Ding Yin. Ha, the poor kid got the same fringe as William’s! 😛

    • 20 thoughts on “Official Trailer for The Legend of Zu brings kisses and backhugs

Didn’t you say that they haven’t finished filming? Or maybe they haven’t even started? That’s even better! I want to start petitioning to get rid of the hideous fringes 😀

      • 20 thoughts on “Official Trailer for The Legend of Zu brings kisses and backhugs

Oh sweetie, at the rate they’re filming, they should be done soon. LOL. If Chinese fans who stalk the production don’t say anything, we are doomed with that fringe. Even the kid gets it. XD

Not sure if I like ZLY’s lipstick color in the preview but it did distract me from looking at her eyebrows. Hehe. I do have to say she looks stunning otherwise.

    • 20 thoughts on “Official Trailer for The Legend of Zu brings kisses and backhugs

In that close-up scene, her lipstick is pretty bright! Villains like shiny things don’t they? 😉

  9. 20 thoughts on “Official Trailer for The Legend of Zu brings kisses and backhugs

The costumes are really bright…..looks kinda cheap.

I really want to see William on screen again, though. He’s my favorite character so far in The Four…I love his spunkiness. Can’t wait to see how the chemistry between him and ZLY turns out.

  10. 20 thoughts on “Official Trailer for The Legend of Zu brings kisses and backhugs

Ah, of all the beautiful costumes that she has, they use the plain black one!! I love the white one, the good girl’s costume is so angelic and the hair pieces she has!!

In certain scenes, William looks very constipated in the trailer though! LOL!

  11. 20 thoughts on “Official Trailer for The Legend of Zu brings kisses and backhugs

I love the trailer opening, but I also love chinese calligraphy so I’m probably biased.
The ending of the trailer though looks like an ad with william staring at the screen and his hair being pretty lol
Too many special effects! they’re getting crazier and more nonsensical!

    Ah…. love turns to hatred….

    • 20 thoughts on “Official Trailer for The Legend of Zu brings kisses and backhugs

They spend as much time as filming doing special effects in post production. Lol. Ai ya!

  12. 20 thoughts on “Official Trailer for The Legend of Zu brings kisses and backhugs

tbh, after watching the trailer, I just really want to know if ZLY and CWT’s characters actually end up together. I hope so. All RPG/Fantasy adaptations (what with, the Chinese Paladin ones, Gu Jian Qi Tan, Xuan Yuan Sword) end in complete and utter tragedy…I just want Wu Xin and Ding Yin to stay together (since you said she starts hating him after he kills her dad)…also what’s with that backhug Ding Yin shared with that other girl around 2:21? Or are my eyes bad and that’s Li Ying…
The thing with flashy epic trailers is that I find it very hard to catch what the screen is showing right away, and I have to pause and rewatch a couple of times to pinpoint “wait who’s that” and “wait what’s going on again” and “wait, what did the narrator say”.

    • 20 thoughts on “Official Trailer for The Legend of Zu brings kisses and backhugs

Based on the written synopsis and older versions, the chance of an unhappy ending is higher because possessed Ding An will sacrifice himself to kill the demon within him. Heart-broken for the second time, Yue Xin (ZLY) turns over a new leaf and helps fulfill his dreams of doing good in the world.

The backhug is with a different female character. Our hero has quite a number of female fans. 🙂

Another great drama for Li Ying for watching… She is a great actress, choose great drama to play with great male actor as the lead character.. Good job girl… Proud of you.. 🙂

I look forward to this drama, though i feel i need to prepare for a tragic ending as seen in most recent wuxia dramas =.= But seriously, they could do with less flashy styles, i mean Nicky’s style reminds me of one of the hobbit from The Hobbit movie…..
