I’m kinda mesmerized by how stunning Jing Tian looks in period costumes. Such perfect, pale skin. The Legend of Xiao Zhuang depicts the love triangle between a Mongolian Princess, Da Yu Er (later known as Xiao Zhuang, mother to Shunzhi Emperor, and grandmother to Kangxi Emperor) with two Manchurian Princes. The older being Hong Taiji, the first Qing emperor, and his 14th brother, general Dorgon. It is said that she fell for Dorgon first but was married to Hong Taiji in fictional romance. The story has been dramatized before in 2003 starring Steven Ma, Ning Jing and Liu De Kai. I don’t remember much about this version…
Stills:
Jing Tian is gorgeous. Any comments on her acting though?
Geng Le as Dorgon. It’s been a while since I’ve seen him in action.
Nie Yuan as Hong Taiji.
Trailer:
The Legend of Xiao Zhuang is scheduled to hit your screen in June 2015.

I’ve been curious about her acting too. I actually never heard of her until I by chance found out she was the person in the MV äŗęµļ¼YunDuo) – ęēę„¼å ° (My LouLan) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pf4VXQMvGcM), and I remember totally thinking she was absolutely gorgeous when I first watched the video. I’m of the opinion that she looks prettier in period outfits. xD

Looks like she’ll have to prove herself now. Yep, she looks wonderful in period costumes. I don’t know how she keeps her skin so radiant and smooth!!
She could be the next big hit if she does a good job.

I’ve only seen her in the movie From Vegas to Macau where she played a sidekick type of role so not much acting was needed. She just had to look pretty for the role. That being said, I’m kind of excited to see her in a drama. She looks great here.
My only problem is that I wish they’d stop with all the Xiao Zhuang dramas and maybe spare some limelight for her older sister Hai Lanzhu who had more of a mysterious life than the empress. HLZ married Hong Taiji at the age of 26 and little is known about her life prior to the marriage. Writers have way more artistic freedom with a character like that when someone who has being written about plenty of times. I mean yes, there was that horrid Beauty Without Tears but it didn’t really do the HLZ and HTJ romance any justice.

Interesting, both sisters married the same guy (nothing new back in the days) but not often seen in Cdramas nowadays. You’re definitely right about artistic freedom but not many writers want to do so, they always prefer the lazy route – based on something written before. We might get one once in a blue moon.

I’ve seen her in the art of war Chinese drama series. I really like her in there and became fond of her. I had also seen her in movies here and there she is okay in movies. I too think she is very beautiful! This is the same story as In love with Power or is it known as Beauty without tears, with Hawick Lau, Ada choi, Zheng Meng and Yuan Shan SHan right? I read the synopsis of that series but never saw it, but it is interesting, to marry the aunt, and two sisters keeping it all in the family hehe.

Yep, you got it right, ping0. I see her name in plenty of movies – but most of her roles are decorated wallflowers. So I’m definitely checking this out. But no promises on whether I’ll last though. š
