    2 episodes per night. i wonder whether this version will drag out the storyline…hopefully not.

    I woke up this morning anticipating the first episode so much, couldn’t find anything so I pretty much marathon Queen Inhyun’s Man. I am glad that the Chinese version thus far has added its own flavor to the mix to where its interesting to see where it deviates from the original. However, the story line pretty flows the same way where I don’t need subs to get the same hyped up feels I got from marathoning the original today. Damn the leads look pretty together.

    Story: ✪✪✪✪ (well I loved the original so this is a given)
    Chemistry: ✪✪✪ (I’ve only seen 2 episodes so there’s not much to see out for now OTP is kinda lacking a certain oomph factor)
    Acting: ✪✪✪ (oh my goodness the sageuk part was so awkward, even the hair styles were like…damn these modern folks trying to fit into the ancient times but failing miserably, but the modern parts were decent)
    Directing: ✪✪✪✪✪ (ahhh I love the cinematography everything is so pretty!)

    Ahhh I don’t know if I should keep watching ’cause right now I feel like the remake is reminding me of the flaws that was present in QIHM I don’t want it to kill my love for the original.

    My rating for the first 4 episodes:
    – Story:✪✪✪ ½
    – Chemistry: ✪✪✪ ½
    – Acting: ✪✪✪ ½

    I think Jin Bo Ran and Chen Xiang’s line speech delivery is awkward for period times, this is a drama where I wish they would dub their voices. The ancient times wardrobes feel very “Korean like”, I know it’s costumes from the Han dynasty but they lack the feel of “Chinese style” in terms of colors, materials, it feels very plain and dull. Other Chinese period dramas have better styling in general than this drama.

    I honestly think they should leave the period styling to the Chinese team, instead of using a team of Korean stylist for the ancient styling, they don’t fully understand and can’t deliver the beauty of Chinese ancient wardrobes.Maybe because I don’t like watching Korean sageuks in general… so I think period costumes are not the Korean production team’s forte.

    On the other hand, the modern side is much better, the Korean team is showing their skills in modern-dramas production, the cinematography is very pretty.

    As for the acting, I think Zheng Shuang is the most natural but Jin Bo Ran is also better in the modern era than period era but Chen Xiang is totally out of place, his speech delivery is so stiff. I was on the fence for the chemistry of the main OTP in the first 2 episodes since they only interacted in 2 scenes in total but Ep3-4 eliminated my concerns for their chemistry. They look great together and the end of ep4 shows a lot of potential.

    I couldn’t finish the Korean version (only watched up to ep12) because I wasn’t a big fan of Yoo In-Na (she’s alright as secondary characters but I can’t buy her being the female lead, I did like Ji Hyun Woo though) so I couldn’t get into the series too much, unlike Nine Times Travel where I was indifferent to the OTP but I’m fine with the female lead, so I guess I prefer the pairing in Chinese version since I like Zheng Shuang a lot.

    – Story: ✪✪✪✪✪ cause of the original, it’s been long enough since the original that i wouldn’t compare this with the korean one too much.
    – Chemistry: ✪✪✪ haven’t seen enough scenes for me to really give a good rating
    – Acting: ✪✪✪ Zheng Shuang’s voice is kind of annoying. Its a bit too squeaky and hard to understand sometimes when she talks fast.
    – Directing: ✪✪✪✪✪ amazing beautify shots

    it’s so cute that they used the kids from Hunan TV’s Grade One, i hope we see more of them.

      Me too, I have the same problem. Her real voice is quite squeaky feminine. And when she acts cute, it goes overboard…. she needs to watch that sometime.

    I am avid Queen InHyun’s Man drama fan, so love seeing this drama… but i cant hardly understand what they are saying… just watch to see the acting.. as it is adaption, for the modern time scene it easier to follow because it quite similar just only a bit of diferences.. I hope the english subtitle will be release fast as i am dying to know what actually they saying…

    EngSub is NOT subbing it. They took our subs and are promoting it on their YT Channel. Unfortunately they are doing it will all the dramas recently, without even asking whether they can.
