It’s too early in the morning for me to cry but I did. This is going to be a tear-jerker once it comes out. Based on a true story, the film tackles a sensitive and harrowing subject for parents world-wide – child abduction. Vicki Zhao plays a country mom, who is in a discording relationship with her husband. They remain together for the sake of their son. As they search for their missing child across unfamiliar land, the two experience bottomless pain, relying on themselves and other parents in the same unfortunate situation.
This must be a tough project for our Vicki, as she’s a mother of a beautiful 4-year old daughter.
Stills:
Tong Da Wei. If you recall, he’s playing her timid husband in drama Tiger Mom.
Trailers:
- Directed by Peter Chan (American Dreams in China, Dragon), he’s also involved as the producer with Hui Yuet Chun (The Guillotines, Bodyguards and Assassins). This project is considered a reunion for the two friends, who has worked together multiple times bedore. Script-writer, Zhang Ji (King of the Wind, American Dreams in China), personally went and lived with the actors to gain a better perspective as the filming continued.
- Dearest hits theaters on Sept 26, 2014.
