Now this is the pairing I can get behind. Firstly, I’m not sure I translated the title right, so please help out this drunk person. Chinese name is 海道传奇. Ahoy!
Some Stills…
Ady with Siqin Gaowa.
- Synopsis (to the best of my understanding): The story unfolds under the reign of Wu Ze Tian (Siqin Gaowa), with the appearance of a sea treasure map, causing uprising and madness as the countries in Southeast Asia fight and kill to obtain the map. Thus, the turbulent love story begins for Li Long Ji (Yan Kuan) and Hai Lu (Ady An).
- Li Long Ji, the grandson of Empress Wu, and future Emperor Xuanzong of Tang China. As a youth, he is described as flirtatious, brave, and forgiving, allowing him to make many friends inside and outside of the Palace, which later becomes helpful as he grows and becomes the astute man in his circle. The kind, and intelligent, Hai Lu, is his childhood sweetheart, but because of their difference in status/clan, they are destined to overcome many trials, making their love unforgettable. Unfortunately, to protect their love, Hai Lu is forced to trade in her life (!!).
- But don’t fret! When one twin dies, we still have the other one! YEP! Ady is portraying twins this time. A meaty role! Scheming, heartless, and cold, Hai Yen is the opposite (of course!) of her gentle sister. As a child, she, along with their older brother, was raised by Wu San Si, Wu Ze Tian’s nephew, and they were trained to become weapons in his battle for the throne. During a sea trip, she meets Long Ji and falls in love with him, leading to the failure of his assassination, and causing her life to end on foreign land. What the hell, so both sisters die?! They are tricking us right….?
- Filming started in April 2014. Directing is Cai Jing Sheng (Yun Zhong Ge, The Holy Pearl) and he plans to film in six different Asian countries. Writing the script is Xu Run (The Angel Ai Meili) and I’m not familiar with her works. The 30 episode drama is scheduled to hit broadcast in April, 2015. *gulps* So far….into the future?

I wonder if yan kuan is expecting a baby!! Taking up projects left and right after his marriage!! Ady looks pretty. Her drama with mike is a bore.

That’s a good way to think of it! Baba needs to bring home milk! Not sure if she is though. It’s nice to see him working again so soon.

Hmmm, did some skip the last line in the last bullet point? Major crush on Yan Kuan, Miss L? 😛

No No I got it. I was making a joke since every single drama seems to be premiered this July. Though I don’t know if I can wait until next spring for this one. <3 Yan Kuan ^^

Oh….Lame me! But if I imagine you speaking to me in person, I could totally picture the word “shock” coming out as intended. 😀

Love how Yan Kuan and Ady An are working together again after their collab in All Men Are Brothers 😀
Story sounds interesting! It’s cool that Ady is portraying twin sisters, although I really hope they don’t kill off both of them because that’s too sad!!!
Yan Kuan and Ady are looking good here! 😀

Aww they did? I did not know that! Did you watch it? Good?
I’m glad Ady gets to play two different roles because she needs a break from nice girls. heh.

Yep, and their characters were a couple who had a happy ending at the end of it too. 😀
The series is great! Very long (80+ episodes IIRC) but very epic. Many many characters and lots of good fight scenes 😀
It’s nice to see Ady branching out into different roles. Much more interesting that way 🙂

I was happy….right until you dropped the 80-episde time bomb. Honey boo! I need a time machine!

LOL I had a check and it’s actually 86 episodes, and Yan Kuan and Ady’s characters debut at around last third of the series. The story is based on the famous novel by the same name and there’s like 108 heroes and the story of how they all were forced to become bandits. Like, I actually had to sit down during summer vacation to have enough time to watch all the episodes. The only similar epic series I know longer than this one was Three Kingdoms (95 episodes), which was actually even MORE EPIC than epic 😀
The thing with these epic series with literally hundreds of characters, it’s hard to skip episodes because then you wouldn’t have a clue what’s going on. I think All Men Are Brothers and Three Kingdoms are the longest Cdramas I’ve watched so far, but they are really very well made and definitely worth a watch if you’re into historical battle stories…

See, I tend to stay away from long dramas unless I really like the cast & story. Lots of characters also confuses me. Short attention span granny RIGHT HERE!
Maybe I’ll give it a try since they did have a happy ending! The horror of struggling through all the episodes and they don’t end up together.

Totally agree with you about series where you follow many episodes, waiting for the characters to get a happy ever after, only to be sorely disappointed after all the time spent watching it!!! OMG! It annoys me so much! Of course Bubu Jingxin was an exception because that ending 4ye and Ruoxi was SUPERB. Actually in the original novel Ruoxi didn’t even get to meet modern 4ye at the museum, so the drama was kind in that she came back to the present and all (but that’s because they wanted to set up for a modern era sequel).
LOL I have a pretty short attention span too, so you’re definitely not alone. If it weren’t for the great fights and good story, I wouldn’t have stayed put and watch 86 eps straight! Yan Kuan and Ady’s characters only appear very late into the series (IIRC around ep 55 for Yan Kuan and later for Ady An). There’s not much romance about them because they were in the middle of a war/rebellion but they did specifically say that their characters eloped together at the end of the story.

I like the sound of this series, esp since Hai Yen (?) seems pretty badass. Anyways. I think it’s just the quality of the pics, but the clothing and colors seem a little gaudy and fake. I’m probably judging too soon since it’s 2015 and either way, somehow they better make things look more beautiful. But Ady and Yan Kuan are both beautiful enough that I almost don’t care.
