Also known as Da Mo Yao or Legend of the Moon and Stars. The themevideo is released, which is a positive sign that the drama will be out soon. As I said before, I’m liking Eddie Peng the more I see of him in here. Sorry Hu Ge, you look so bored in the role that I can’t help but mirror your expression when seeing you onscreen.
My futile attempt at translating the song title (please do not intake a drink at this point):
The Chinese Title is “白头吟” and my translation + google = “Ancient White Hair”
Okay, now you can laugh. After that, please help this poor soul out. 😎

I just saw this one while I was browsing the internet earlier. It’s a lovely song! Can’t wait for the drama to be out.

Man so miss seeing Hu Ge and Liu Shi Shi together! I shipped them so hard before :3 Is there a set release date for this yet?

Unfortunately, not yet. It keeps getting delay because of history-banned krap China issued. I hope it doesn’t become a fiasco like BBJQ with more than 3 versions. O_O It makes life hard for my family of uploaders!

I read somewhere they are getting a June air date?

I *think* it literally means A Song of (the?) White Hair(s) but the poetry in the lyrics is really beyond my understanding… Something about growing old together and not wanting to be apart.

Ok well, this is an explanation of the original poem used for the lyrics, that I got off a Chinese site.

My love is as pure as the snow on a mountain, as bright as the moon among clouds
I heard you were of two hearts, so I came to make a break
Today we feast and meet for the last time; tomorrow our paths split where the ditch water does
I walked back and forth by the side of the ditch, watching the water in it flowing away in two opposite directions
Oh what sorrow people have, but there is really no cause for bitter crying as brides do on their wedding day
For as long as they marry someone who treats them true and grows old together with them
When we had eyes only for each other, we were just like that gently bending rod, and that fish with its lively tail
Surely a man should first have integrity; why then do you give priority to riches and prosperity?
The poem (and therefore the song) is the lamentation of a bride who has lost favour with her husband. In the end I still have no fitting translation for the song title though…

Awww. Thanks dear inverse001 for going out of your way to help! If only more would do this, then I wouldn’t feel ashamed of my skills (or lack thereof). 😀
Since different translator would translate it differently, we could call it Ancient Song of White Hair?
L, unless it’s from a creditable Chinese website, I wouldn’t hold my breath. 😉 I used to announce wrong dates all the times. heh.

No problem Kap! I do leech and lurk on this site from time to time so it’s about high time I did *something*… (besides, the lyrics really intrigued me) 😛

I love this translation! Thanks so much! Do you know who the original poet was?
I do feel that this poem fits Meng Jue better and would’ve been better suited for Yun Zhong Ge. ^_^

The author of the poem is listed as 卓文君 (Zhuo Wen Jun), who was widowed at an early age… She possessed great beauty and was very cultured, and thus no lack of suitors came after. However, she rejected all of them, until some guy called 司马相如 (Sima Xiangru) moved her with a poem of his own, declaring his love. Her father disapproved of their being together, and so they eloped.
After a time of hardships, Sima managed to gain favour from the court with a poem. He gained riches and prestige, and figured he could marry a 2nd wife. It was this that led Zhuo to pen this heartbreak poem (which had an addendum that I haven’t found a translation for), and the poem moved Sima so much that he gave up the idea of a concubine and stayed faithful to Zhuo.

Awww, so the man didn’t get a concubine. Rarely do you hear stories of a wife’s poem changing the course of her sad marriage. Lovely ending, how he moved her heart with his poem and she in return moved him away from a life of STDs!

Thanks inverse001 for the translation. I didn’t know the song came from a poem.
It’s been forever since this drama had finished filming and still no definite airing date sigh… Darn you SARFT hopefully it’s worth waiting for

You’re welcome! I sure hope this doesn’t get heavy cuts like the mainland version of BBJQ. Broke my heart and killed my expectations, that one…

Liu Shi Shi’s acting is boring and bad. i dont get why she is in sooo many dramas lol there are better actresses in china T___T and people always say shes pretty… she doesnt look pretty at all …

Hi Xiaoyu, i need help please would you translate this白头吟 song for me in English. I will really appreciate that
21 thoughts on “The Sound of Desert releases themesong by Della Ding”
I do find that she looks good even when she cries. I really don’t watch a lot of dramas, so my exposure is limited, but I think she’s a decent actress. Whatever it is, she’s not really up there in terms of fame, so I’m guessing she doesn’t get a lot of say in the roles she plays either. Blame the management company if you want, eh…
