Zhai Tian Lin’s breakthrough role in The Master of the House

I don’t think many recognize his name? He was the despicable brother king in King of Lan Ling, you know, the man who did one unforgivable thing at the very last episode? I sympathized with him at several points in the drama but once that happened, pity was gone, and what’s left is a burning hatred. 😀

Anyway, he’s been in a few projects, but one that captured my attention is Master of the House, where he plays an autistic man. And based on the trailer, he’s doing a decent job.

The synopsis is quite complicated to my limited comprehension skills (feel free to elaborate). From what little I can glean from the text, Yao Qian Yu plays the main lead. After rescuing Cheng Yue Liang (Zhai Tian Lin), she becomes his mentor and later his mother figure once she marries his father, Cheng Yi Fei (Zhang Chen Guang). I think it’s also stated that she thought her husband die in the hands of the Japanese soldiers. But of course, he didn’t. Along the way, we are promised a warring storyline, demonstrating the growth of family bonds and friendships through endless rounds of obstacles during the chaotic years of the 1940s.

Drama Poster. The main draws for me to check out this series are 1) The budding chemistry between Zhai Tian Lin and the cutie pie Tan Song Yun. 2) The golden screenwriter, Cheung Wah Biu, name shows up. TVB’s fans should know this man, as he’s in charge of many hits including, Moonlight Resonance, Rosy Business, and No Regrets. And if those names don’t ring a bell, he was also in charge of the 3 installments of The Legend of the Condor Heroes in the 80s, which are considered the classics of all adaptations.
