So my friend texted me: “Hey, your latest girl crush is filming a new drama!” Of course, I know she’s referring to super lady, Zhao Li Ying, and my interest is perked. Didn’t she just hop from A Wife’s Secret to Shan Shan Comes to Eat a few weeks back? Well, well, well. Strike when the iron is hot, I guess. Hua Qian Gu is another popular Chinese novel, written by Fresh Guo Guo. I’m not familiar with the storyline but my friend assures me it’s the most interesting project for ZLY this year (Pshhh, as if she knows the girl’s schedule after this one!) Anyway, the question mark in the post title indicates that Wallace Huo has yet to sign on. If he confirms, he’ll be playing Zhao Li Ying’s shifu, who is responsible for her endless sufferings in the drama.

My friend read the novel before but she isn’t the most fluent to do any translation. I’ll try my best to get the gist of her wordy summary. The story deals with gods, demons, and reincarnations surrounding the life of a hapless orphan, Hua Qian Gu (Zhao Li Ying). The day she came into this world, her mother died. Blooming flowers wilted and the skies took on a gloomy change, hence they named her Qian Gu, which also means Bone, a nick many of her friends go by. I’m not sure what she is (god/angel/halfie) but she carries with her a scent that attracts demons and other worldly creatures. Think Xuanzang from Journey to the West. Her father, a scholar, died when she was twelve and before he passed away, he told her to learn some skills to protect herself from evil. She listens and seeks on a journey to Mount Shu, a sacred place hidden in the highest mountains. The people are experienced in warding off spirits and ghosts.

But the leader of Mount Shu passed away a few years later. Still young and defenseless, Qian Gu sets out on another trip to Chang Liu sect. There, she meets her mentor and lover, Bai Zi Hua (Wallace Huo, if!). She describes him as the gentlest and most heartless person in her life. That’s not good right?

I don’t remember the rest of the details but she promised a lot of pretty and epic. Look below for two other male characters.

Sha Qian Mo & Dong Fang Yu Qing. OMGGGGG! Forget about the hero, I care more about these two characters. My friend doesn’t like Bai Zi Hua very much and says that Hua Qian Gu is a dummy for not loving one of these two men. I trust her taste. 😛 Sha Qian Mo is the leader of the demon realm while Dong Fang Yu Qing only cares for the well-being of Qian Gu. He’s said to be partly blamed for the tragic turn of events. Are you confused yet? Because I am. Imagine how my face looked like when my friend gushed and hyperventilated while telling me the story.

Director in charge is Lin Yu Fen (Da Mo Yao / Ballad of the Desert, Bu Bu Jing Qing, An Angel’s Happiness). The drama is scheduled to be 45 episodes. And filming begins in March.

BUT GAWD! I AM EXCITED FOR THIS ONE!!! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE~~~!!! Can’t wait for the costume fitting!
