Upcoming Winter 2013 Jdramas that I eagerly anticipate!

Grim-looking cast. Smile people! Someone, please feed Erika. PLEASE! But she does look very good with this hairdo.

  • Synopsis of Yae no Sakura: “Niijima Yae (Ayase Haruka), who grew up in the Aizu domain, was a spunky girl despite her mother’s wishes that she be feminine. Because of anecdotes of how she barricaded herself with 500 women in Tsuruga Castle while being beseiged during the Boshin War, and fought with guns, she was acclaimed as the “Joan of Arc of the late Edo period”. After the Meiji Restoration, she became the wife of Niijima Jo, who had returned from America. She soon joined the Sino-Japanese War and Russo-Japanese War together with her Aizu comrades as Japan’s first volunteer nurses, going from warrior woman to Japan’s Nightingale.” [Credit: Jdrama Weblog]
  • Ayase Haruka is playing the main lead. It’s funny how when I saw her on one of Arashi’s million variety shows, she was a troll. She was utterly boring. But since I started on Jin a few days ago, I’m beginning to like her. Hey, if a girl can bring some life into her characters, I could care less about her mundane real life personality.
  • Gurl, this baby has my name written ALL OVER IT! A female warrior. I soooo need you in my life right now. Please be awesome. I’ll pick this up if it gets subbed! Airing 1/06/2013.
  • Wait, I take it back, 50 episodes? Honey. You…..Really?

  • Synopsis of Shotenin Michiru no Mi no Uebanashi: “Michiru (Toda Erika) is an ordinary girl who works at a bookshop in a provincial town. She has been dating Kutaro (Emoto Tasuku) for a year, but they have not taken the plunge and married. Michiru’s little secret is that she is having an affair with Toyomasu (Arai Hirofumi), a publishing company’s salesman, who comes from Tokyo. One day, Michiru slips out of the bookshop and goes to see Toyomasu off as he returns to Tokyo. On the spur of a moment, they leave for Tokyo together and she stays on in the metropolis. Then, Michiru learns that the lottery she bought at the request of a workplace colleague was the winning 200 million yen lottery ticket. Michiru’s destiny starts to take a thrilling turn. She does not tell anyone about winning the lottery and roams around with the 200 million yen in her bank passbook. Takei (Kora Kengo), Michiru’s childhood friend who loves her, shows his unexpected true self. Kutaro and Toyomasu get involved in the matter. Where will Michiru land up?” [Credit: Jdrama Weblog]
  • What’s with Erika and huge sum of money? hehe. 😛 Ah..the goodness that is Liar Game. Am still waiting for my movie torrent to finish. 2+ months already.
  • Unexpectedly, this drama will be telling the story from Michiru’s husband’s POV…. Hmmm…..
  • The themesong “Alone” is sung by Korean Boyband U-Kiss.

  • Synopsis of Live Active xxxHolic: “High school student Watanuki Kimihiro (Sometani Shota) is a youth whose blood attracts spirits. He is bothered by this predisposition to see and be possessed by spirits. One day, Watanuki wanders into a strange residence called “Mise” that only people needing help can enter, and meets the fascinating female owner, Ichihara Yuko (Anne). Yuko is said to have the mysterious power to grant the wishes of visitors in exchange for a “consideration”. Inviting Watanuki to state his wish, she hires him to help at “Mise” as “consideration” for removing the spirits. While Watanuki works part-time, he comes across strange customers including troubled people and otherworldly beings and encounters bizarre events…” [Credit: Jdrama Weblog]
  • I don’t know anything about the manga (I don’t read manga, unfortunately) but my addict friend is having all this F.E.E.L.S, so I think it must be good. The colors remind me of Liar Game‘s promotional materials – so I’m in too. 😉

I am excited to see Yae no Sakura just for Ayase Haruka aka Ahomiya!!!! Luv luv her ever since i saw her in Hotaru no Hikari series, so excited to see her in a very different role. I’ve wanted to watch her other dramas/movies but i sort of forgot to follow up on them.

Toda Erica was Aoto right?!! Haha! After Locked Room Mystery i am a fan, but i’m not sold on the storyline. Is it going to be a comedy?

    • 23 thoughts on “Upcoming Winter 2013 Jdramas that I eagerly anticipate!

The only thing that’s keeping me at bay is 50 episodes. Lordy…!

Yep, that’s Aoto from Locked Room Mystery! And the story screams mysteries and drama instead of comedy. I mean she’s a cheater! The men aren’t very attractive and look much older than Erika. 🙁 With the exception of Kengo Kora, he’s only a year older than her.

      • 23 thoughts on “Upcoming Winter 2013 Jdramas that I eagerly anticipate!

You how the Japanese always have a different take on things so i was expecting the same zaniness, i like Toda Erica in comedy better and the fact that there isn’t much eye candy to draw me in, but i just might wait for your review should you choose to watch it.

Meh, 50 ep is nothing, well when watching a kdrama but not so sure about a Jdrama. I don’t think i have ever watched a Jdrama that’s more than 12 eps

        • 23 thoughts on “Upcoming Winter 2013 Jdramas that I eagerly anticipate!

Oh…look at you being a drama pro Annette! “50 ep is nothing!”

haha I could barely finish a regular drama these days. That’s how fast I lost interest. 😛

Should watch Erika in Spec. Loved her in there. I think I recommended this one before. How I never really know what was going on. heh.

        • 23 thoughts on “Upcoming Winter 2013 Jdramas that I eagerly anticipate!

Loooool! I guess i am getting to the pro stage!

I think you did recommend the drama but then got busy with school and i had gone away a little bit from Jdramas, was exploring more lakorns 😀 I’m back in the Jdrama mode and i’m watching Monsters, it’s kinda funny but not the same as Seri, Enomoto and Aoto – i don’t think i’ll ever be able to watch another Japanese mystery drama without comparing it to that drama

        • 23 thoughts on “Upcoming Winter 2013 Jdramas that I eagerly anticipate!

I started Jin the Japanese version and like it a lot. Only the puke sound effect is annoying me so far. Love the music and everything else. But there is little to no romance. Can’t a girl get some love around here?!

        • 23 thoughts on “Upcoming Winter 2013 Jdramas that I eagerly anticipate!

Alice it think i was going to watch Jin, i had it on my radar but i don’ t know what happened honestly. It had good reviews and of course Hayase is in it. The lead does seem much of a looker anyway, as with Jdramas they don’t do romance but quirky – is it funny and quirky? if it is i think i can do without the lack of romance.

        • 23 thoughts on “Upcoming Winter 2013 Jdramas that I eagerly anticipate!

Hmmm Quirky and funny wouldn’t be my choice of words. Beautiful and inspiring? Well, there’s romance (the two ladies googly eye him all the times) but they don’t argue and fight like in Korean dramas, you-know-the-eye-rolls from second leads.

Intelligent and graceful women, these two. 🙂

Or you can also watch Liar Game! Erika is in there too. Her character might have you pulled a few hair or more because she’s the foolishly honest girl. Overall, a smartly written drama (based on the popular manga) with lots of twists and mysteries. All based on mental action. So you can’t fall asleep while watching or you won’t be wowed! Look out for over-the-top acting from the supporting cast!

        • 23 thoughts on “Upcoming Winter 2013 Jdramas that I eagerly anticipate!

Alice i am thinking of starting with either Liar Game or SPEC – i just read the stories for both and i like the plotlines. Is Toda Erika her usual funny crazy self? I am in the mood for a really hilarious Jdrama, are they like Locked Room Murder? Which one do you think i should start with, something that has laugh out loud moments?

        • 23 thoughts on “Upcoming Winter 2013 Jdramas that I eagerly anticipate!

Hilarious drama…. that would be more of Liar Games (b/c of the OTT acting from supporting cast), and Erika’s bubbly in there. Still, I really like her nonchalant self in Spec too, no make-up, no pretense. She’s such a cute troll (only loves Japanese dumplings, Gyoza), but the drama isn’t one I would call funny. Plenty of killing and murders for our pair of detectives. Grimmer.

Just watch both Annette! Since Erika’s characters are so distinctive, you wouldn’t feel bored. 😛

        • 23 thoughts on “Upcoming Winter 2013 Jdramas that I eagerly anticipate!

I’ll take your advice and watch them both, i was about to start with SPEC but i think i’ll go with Liar Game. Thanks Kap’n!

    • 23 thoughts on “Upcoming Winter 2013 Jdramas that I eagerly anticipate!

Have you watched the Hotaru no Hikari movie, Annette? I seriously love the whole HnH series. Buchou’s the best man ever. *A*

      Watch HnH, Kap!

  2. 23 thoughts on “Upcoming Winter 2013 Jdramas that I eagerly anticipate!

The one i can’t wait for the most is XXXHolic. The manga is so great. I recommend for anyone to read it if they like fantasy/ romance/ and the plot itself is great.

    • 23 thoughts on “Upcoming Winter 2013 Jdramas that I eagerly anticipate!

Cherry, did you get a chance to watch the anime version? I’m tempted to watch it (fantasy, mystery, comedy – I’m in!) but wasn’t sure if it’s half as good as the manga.

  3. 23 thoughts on “Upcoming Winter 2013 Jdramas that I eagerly anticipate!

Hmm.. I guess I’ll look in to all of them (especially xxxHolic) but the ones I’m looking forward to are:

Untitled JDrama: This one… It’s being hailed as the so-called J-version of Gossip Girls, and having never seen that show (yet.. ought I? Please advise), that I don’t care about. What I do care about is the fact that this baby has Aibu Saki as the leading lady. And that’s still not the best part. The best part is this: the guys in line for her are *drumroll* Oguri Shun, Mukai Osamu, Okada Masaki, and Matsuzaka Tori.
    Well.
    Shit.
How many countries did she save exactly in her past lives? Cos you can’t save that many in one.

Biblia Koshodou No Jiken Techou: This drama blipped on my radar for the following reason: it’s based on a series of light novels that I really like. It’s about a pretty, young and female bookshop owner who… doesn’t have very many social skills. What she does have, though, is her encyclopaedia-like knowledge. With which she solves book-related mysteries. Just my type of lady. I don’t really know the cast (Goriki Ayame, who played an annoying female in Asuko March, and some dude from EXILE) so I can’t really say much, except they better not screw this up. (If you can’t understand Japanese, but would still like a taste of the novels or see the (scarce) illustrations, baka-tsuki is translating it ^u^)

Mayonaka No Panya-san: Another one based on a novel, this one is about a mysterious bakery that only opens at midnight (I only explain in case the name didn’t give it away xP), and which has, per recent entertainments trends, an eccentric, quirky, funny and heartwarming nakama. But. This one has something that sets it apart. We have Takizawa-kun (yes, THE Takizawa Hideaki) headlining this jdrama. If this ain’t worth watching, I dunno what is. I haven’t read the novels, so I don’t know what to make of it, except.. I hope I can get my hands on it.

Nobunaga No Chef: Has Tama-cha-err Tamamori Yuta, time-travelling to Edo period and food. End.

    Kyou, Koi Wo Hajimemasu: So technically, this is a movie, plus, it premiered in December. But, since I really like (xihuan, keshi bu ai xP) the manga, and since I’m not going to get my paws on it until [early] 2013… it’s here. It has Takei Emi (my baby) and Matsuzaka Tori (also my baby), who have both co-starred before, once as brother-sister (GOLD) and once as love interests (Asuko March). GOLD came first so it’s not as squicky, btw. And since we’re talking about Asuko March.. I’m taking this movie as the closure Asuko March never gave me (you don’t even call me anymore, you left so abruptly, my heart still hurts TT_TT). Seeing the number of squee worthy scenes in the trailer alone, I have quite high expectations. Let’s just not find out that they used every squee-worthy scene in the trailer =__=;;

Shun, Mukai…whoa. Who’s the casting director?!

Mayonaka No Panya-san! haha A shady bakery. I luff this. 😀 I have to google Takizawa Hideaki because I’m still not very well-versed with J-actors. He looks cute, still skinny though! I’ll definitely addddddd this to my list.

  4. 23 thoughts on “Upcoming Winter 2013 Jdramas that I eagerly anticipate!

Yae No Sakura’s plot sounds okay but the 50 ep’s makes me want to watch it more lol

The Toda Erika drama is top of my to-watch list and I only just read the synopsis. I’m worried about it being from the husband’s POV tho. If I learn how to contribute here by the time it comes out I will.

Biblia Koshodou No Jiken Techou sounds great! Since Locked Room Murders I’ve been searching for another mystery drama with a twist.

XXXHolic sounds interesting too…I might try to read the manga and watch the anime before it airs lol

Uhmmm…lol…I will probably give all of the dramas listed here a try : )

    • 23 thoughts on “Upcoming Winter 2013 Jdramas that I eagerly anticipate!

“makes me want to watch it more…”

^ I thought I read wrong! You like long dramas don’t you momosman? hehe.

“I will probably give all of the dramas listed here a try…”

Lady, did you perhaps find the door to the 4th dimension? Please do share. 😉

  5. 23 thoughts on “Upcoming Winter 2013 Jdramas that I eagerly anticipate!

¡¡¿¿Theme song by U-Kiss??!! I’m SO watching that drama! Thank you!!!

  6. 23 thoughts on “Upcoming Winter 2013 Jdramas that I eagerly anticipate!

Guys, I actually know the manga xxxHolic! It’s really popular in my country, alltough I didn’t like it very much.
I copied this from the cover of the manga:

    A shop…
A shop where wishes are granted.
But in exchange, they ask you for a price…
And it must fit the subject.
    For example: A soul.

Like I said, the manga didn’t convince me. The boy was kind of funny, tough.
So, let’s just check the upcoming live action, it may be more interesting!

Looking forward to Karamazov no Kyodai.

    Website: http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Karamazov_no_Kyodai

Love dark psychological dramas like that. Even better Japan does them so well. 😀

Other than that, looking forward to Last Hope too! Aiba! *A* And a few others. Though I reckon I’ll probably end up downloading every single one I can get my hands on and watch them slowly. Lol. Doesnt look like I’m watching the one with Ayase though. Already started downloading the dramas that have aired. xD

50 eps of Yae no Sakura is wayy too long. I recommend the movie Ichi – Ayase Haruka as a blind swordwoman. I believe this movie is where she first met Osawa Takao who later played Dr Jin with her in the drama series.

The ones the I look forward are as follows..
    Nakuna, Hara-chan
I believe this one is a rom-com that I will enjoy watching.. a love story between a lady (Aso Kumiko) and a manga character ( Nagase Tomoya) that comes to live.. love Aso Kumiko, she can pretty, cute, sexy or tough iron lady.. a talented underrated actress and Nagase Tomoya is always great in his comical role and still look manly..

    Share House no Koibito
I believe I’m gonna have a great laugh watching this… love triangle between 3 housemates… Shio (Azami Mizukawa) falls in love with the man who lives with her. This is the first time Shio has had such feelings in a long time. Unfortunately, the man is in love with another man. Meanwhile, her housemate’s love interest becomes attracted to Shio.

This design is spectacular! You certainly know how to keep a reader entertained.

Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well,
almost…HaHa!) Excellent job. I really loved what you had to
say, and more than that, how you presented it. Too
    cool!
