Alice: Le Sigh…. Thoughts on ep.1-6 below.
What has Kirin become? A school full of snobbish, lazy students.
Too many characters. I swear when Hyo Rin, Shiwoo, and Ailee show up onscreen, I’m like, “What? Is Rian in trouble again?”
The Storyline. Is. A. Mess. Where are they headed now that we’re half way done with the drama? There’s no stake involved so everything seems like a joke. That boot camp training? Mind-boggling. I didn’t see the value/lesson of it. What I learned is… the trainer is dumb and the students just need to cheat. Makes me wonder why they’re in this music-based school when they have no passion.
Rian. The girl who cries wolf. Seriously, the next time she faints, I’m going to knock her upside the head (fanboys :P, stay away from my slicer). Rian should be a complex and intriguing character but sadly it’s only seen on paper. This is my first Ji Yeon’s drama and her delivery in here is flat and uninteresting. There is this one particular scene in episode 5 where she was framed by the classmates and JB was comforting her, and I was hoping she could show off her acting skill… Instead, there was no emotion, no anger, I was numbed with disappointment.
Jin Woon – now he’s a surprise. If you asked me before DH2, I would have honestly said he’s my least favorite from 2AM. Here, he’s doing a fabulous job as Yoo Jin. Right tone of voice. Expressive face. He is one of the two characters I care about.
Hye Sung – oh poor girl. That scene at the end of episode 6 moved me…to anger. What a bunch of wasteful students. Do you know how hard people worked to pick those apples? Have some decency! I practically hate the whole school right from that moment. Anyway, Hye Sung’s issue is palpable and So Ra delivered it well. The things we insist to do every day even when we’re being told – “You’re bad! Stop doing BLAH BLAH BLAH!” It’s totally relatable. Now, we just need to move on…from that point.
JB – the only scene that I liked from this guy is the last scene of episode 6 when he swooped in, picked up an apple, and bit it. That was sweet. And I grinned like a fool until it got a bit out-of-character with the poke-cheeks thing. But okay.
The Love Rectangle – does it exist? It feels like the writer is trying too hard to create an epic love rectangle…but sorry writers. You flunked this test.
