[Summary] Warrior Baek Dong Soo Episode 13 & 14

Photobucket Summary post! Time to condense and emphasize because most parts are fighting sequences and Dong Soo sulking, which is not a good thing. My hat comes off for Crown Prince because he did what he couldn’t do in the past decades!

Episode 13 Summary:

PhotobucketPhotobucket To start off episode 13, we backtrack to Dong Soo as he catches up to Ji Sun, after he sends her off and deals with the market hooligans. They’re now with Jin Ju and Dong Soo tells her about the possibility of a traitor who leaked their plans and routes in the escape mission. He thinks of Yeo Woon’s strange words the other day but quickly dismisses the outrageous idea. Before he leaves to complete the task, Dong Soo entrusts Ji Sun in Jin Ju’s care. =X Boy, I’d love to wipe that smile off of your face! Photobucket After Chief Im breathes his final heroic moment as the Prince’s body guard, Prince Sado charges ragingly after Chun. PhotobucketPhotobucket He holds his own (for a good 3 minute) during the fight and even manages to cut Chun’s hand. However, he’s not the winner of this battle and whispers, “You can kill me, but my northern expedition dream will live on forever.” Chun lays down Sado’s destiny, “And this day shall be your memorial every year.” Photobucket In his last moment, Prince Sado leans against a tree and looks up at the beautiful sky as if staring off to a faraway dream. When he closes his eyes, Ji Sun, who is heading up to the forest with Jin Ju, feels stabbing pain in her heart. Sigh. I expected Prince Sado’s death weeks ago but seeing him actually dying is tragic and commendable. He’s finally able to step up to his place and fights for his loyal subjects, Chief Im and many others. It’s a better option than perishing in a box, according to history. PhotobucketPhotobucket Chun walks off after he’s finished Prince Sado and leaves it to Yeo Woon to “clean” up the corpse. Yeo Woon kneels and begs forgiveness tearfully. Oh boy, this gotta stop. You can’t just go around killing people and asking for forgiveness. Dong Soo reaches this scene and sobs for Crown Prince’s lost life. PhotobucketPhotobucket Afterwards, he faces Yeo Woon and asks why he killed them. “How could you? Have you gone insane?” Yeo Woo stoicly replies it’s his fate, there’s no way out. Dong Soo proceeds to knock Yeo Woon to the ground and exclaims that he’s going to kill him. Photobucket Jin Ju and Ji Sun meets Chun and his underling during their way up and Jin Ju lures them away from Ji Sun by running idiotically to the other direction. Chun’s man follows her. PhotobucketPhotobucket Dong Soo draws out his sword but Yeo Woon flicks sand in Dong Soo’s face to buy him some leeway. With his vision still fuzzy, Dong Soo lunges forward….his sword stabbing into Ji Sun, who is standing right behind Yeo Woon, trying to prevent him from slashing Dong Soo. Crap! Girl! Photobucket Dong Soo rushes her down the forest but Ji Sun insists to go back to Prince Sado. Having no other choice, Dong Soo brings her back and she leans against the Crown Prince, asking him to take her along. Photobucket Meanwhile, Chun’s man is searching for Jin Ju as she lowers herself in the tall flowers. Unfortunately, Dong Soo’s cry catches her attention and she stands up immediately to locate his destination. Girl, he’s not Simba from The Lion King, whose roar you must respond upon hearing. Pshhh. Now that she’s exposed, Jin Ju is unconcerned of her own safety as she dazes out, dead worry about Dong Soo. Father Hwang appears and saves her, while having his identity noted by Chun’s man. Bad! Bad! PhotobucketPhotobucket Chun returns to check on Yeo Woon’s progress. Dong Soo tries to battle it out with Chun but the man is quick to clamp his hands around Dong Soo’s neck. Chun then realizes that Dong Soo is the same boy who caused bodily harm to him years ago and is elated, mostly at what the future holds. Not to be defeated, Dong Soo charges again and this time one punch sends him crumbling to the ground. Chun flings Ji Sun over his shoulder and leaves with Yeo Woon. Photobucket Sword Saint, Samo, Jin Gi, and Jin Ju get to the spot simultaneously. Sword Saint, you are ALWAYS late. To everything. Ji, who has been hiding behind a tree is found out by none other than Gwang Taek. She prays that he forgives her and also wants him to take her life. Gwang Taek shakes his head, killing Ji wouldn’t solve anything so he only cuts a pearl adorned on her clothing off. PhotobucketPhotobucket In the following days, Cho Rip exits the box, the King grieves over his son’s death, the bad guys party nightly, and Dong Soo falls into depression. Sword Saint meets with Prince Sado’s son, Yi San, and tells him to be careful in the future. Photobucket On Pig (Hong Dae Joo)’s side, he sends the assassin-hair man out to keep an eye on Yi San (who is protected by Sword Saint), while Bat is on a mission to kill Dong Soo. Pig also sends the book that Sword Saint has written about martial arts skills to Chun, hoping that he would use it wisely. Like before, Chun is offended and burns the book. PhotobucketPhotobucket As for Jin Ju, she is determined to reunite with her mother. She inquires her dad about the pearl that he’s kept throughout the years and the pearl that Sword Saint cut off from the strange ajumma (Ji). Father Jin Gi scoffs at her, saying that this pearl can be found everywhere in the markets. In the comfort of his room, Jin Gi reminisces the day when Ji dropped off her newborn baby with him. She has left without giving the baby a proper name. Jin Gi saw a black pearl lying on the table and decided to name the baby girl Jin Ju, to symbolize that she’s a pearl in his hands. Aw. Beautiful name. Photobucket Everyone is fed up with Dong Soo’s dazing period but no one can sober the poor boy because he doesn’t even respond to beating. Jin Ju brings him to the river banks and decides to drown him so that his survival instincts kick in. However, Cho Rip doesn’t like the idea and stands in her way. During their struggle, they both fall into the river, cracking a small smile from Dong Soo. When they’re busy with chasing each other around, Bat approaches Dong Soo. He wields his sword to Dong Soo’s neck and the boy only smiles. Unnaturally, Bat feels like doing a kind thing today so he lets Dong Soo off the hook. Odd. Very Odd. Photobucket That night Sword Saint comes back (Crown Prince’s Heir has returned to the palace) and pummels Dong Soo repeatedly with a stick. Simultaneously, Yeo Woon is moving up the ranks at Hoksa Chorong. He’s taking over Bat’s position, as the new Human Lord (me guess since he’s sitting next to Chun’s seat). Episode 14 Summary: PhotobucketPhotobucket Sword Saint continues to beat Dong Soo. Jin Ju can’t watch this anymore and makes up her mind to do something dangerous. She takes Dong Soo back to the same house where he saved her from the fire years ago. With Cho Rip guarding outside, Jin Ju locks the door and sets the inside on fire. Okay, I’m very touched but my girl, this is still a very dumb thing to do! She’s a lost cause in this love triangle. Photobucket Sword Saint, Samo, Ji, and Cho Rip all wait expectantly outside. Ji wants to go in to save her daughter and Sword Saint is wide-eyed at the revelation. Luckily, before they move in to help, Dong Soo kicks the door down and carries Jin Ju outside. He calls her an idiot. Yah! You both are so shut up! In a pavillion, Sword Saint mumbles, “Could Jin Ju’s father be….” and Ji denies before any name is listed. I still think she’s Sword Saint’s daughter. Jin Ju is around the same age as Dong Soo and the adults kissed that night…heh. She leaves a letter behind for Jin Ju and asks Sword Saint to deliver it. Photobucket Back at Hoksa Chorong, Chun lets Ji Sun stab him to prove that her doing this doesn’t change anything. If she can’t kill the enemy, Ji Sun wants to follow Prince Sado by starving herself. Yeo Woon effectively changes her will at the mention of Dong Soo’s unstable mentality. That does the trick but Ji Sun replies that she’s no longer the person of this world. Photobucket Yeo Woon’s new mission. He’s going to protect the Book of War and Ji Sun and presents them to the Qing Emperor. PhotobucketPhotobucket Uopn waking up, the first thing that comes to Dong Soo’s mind is Ji Sun’s whereabouts. He stops Ji and demands to know where she is. Oh gosh, I’m so peeved at this boy right now. He’s blindingly in love with Ji Sun and totally disregards what Jin Ju did for him! Arggg! Ji responds, “Forget about her. You won’t be able to find her so don’t bother searching.” Defiantly, Dong Soo draws out his sword. Ji merely scoffs and tells him to put it away. He’s in no condition to save or protect anyone. Dong Soo raises his arrogance up a few notches and says she better takes those words back. Heck to the no, buddy. Dong Soo swipes and in one move, Ji’s sword is at his neck. Oh gosh, I’m so giddy at this scene. Someone finally puts this boy and his ego in line!! YEAAAAAAAAA!! Photobucket Inside the room, Hwang Jin Gi reveals his background story to a room of curious ears. Twenty years ago, he was Hoksa Chorong’s training captain and also Ga Ok’s (Ji) body guard. Turns out that Ga Ok is the previous Sky Lord’s daughter. Wouldn’t that make Jin Ju the direct successor of Hoksa Chorong? o.o When Ji found out that she was pregnant, she requested for maternity a leave and Chun agreed, despite not knowing the reason behind. PhotobucketPhotobucket When everyone leaves, Jin Ju confirms with her dad about Ji. Jin Gi doesn’t have the heart to continue the lie and tells her the truth. She tearfully continues, “Then my father, are you not my father?” Aw, this is heart-breaking. A gigantic part of me wishes he would nod immediately. Instead he cries and acknowledges her doubts and finally mumbles, “I’m your father. The pirate Hwang Jin Gi, is your father.” Jin Ju replies with a smile, “Me too, I will forever be your daughter.” What am I going to do when someone takes his life away?! T_T Photobucket Yeo Woon’s speedy rank climbing is upsetting a Chun’s follower (don’t know his name, picture above, so let’s call him Traitor). He’s displeased at Chun’s blatant favoritism of Woon and opts to have a chat with Bat, who is devising a dark plan to send Sky Lord (Chun) to hell. The Traitor even manages to steal Sky Lord’s seal. *gulps* PhotobucketPhotobucket Chun names Yeo Woon as his successor. Yeo Woon agrees with one request: Spare Ji Sun’s life. No can do. She must be sent to the Qing Emperor. PhotobucketPhotobucket Hwang Jin Gi and Jin Ju are going back to their hideout. Dong Soo finally returns and everyone scoots inside so they have some time alone. Dong Soo sounds really indifferent to me when he tells her to hurry home. She’s disappointed at his attitude and heads for the door. Dong Soo grabs her wrist and embraces her. “Thank-you. Those are words I’ve always wanted to say.” Somehow, I feel like this scene is a tease to my vulnerable DSxJJ ship. Writers, don’t toy with me. Don’t play with Jin Ju’s feeling. How far are you going to lead her? Pshh! PhotobucketPhotobucket Father Jin Gi brings Jin Ju to the river where Ji is waiting. Mother and daughter, finally, reunites in tears. Photobucket Sword Saint and Samo plan to save Ji Sun at the dock. They agree to keep this away from Dong Soo. Voila, he’s listening to them outside the door. You guys are not discreet at ALL. Fail! Photobucket The trip back to Qing is tomorrow and the Qing Emissary is upset that throughout his stay in Joseon, he’s never met Sky Lord. Bat drops by with a fake letter (stamped using the stolen seal from Chun). Bat lies that Chun plans to push the responsibility of losing the Book of War to the Qing Emissary by hijacking the book half-way of the trip. Photobucket Everyone, and I mean it, heads to the dock. The Qing Emissary wants to personally confirm the map on her back and demands that Ji Sun strip in front of him. Thinking quickly, Yeo Woon cuts a gap on her back to reveal a small section. PhotobucketPhotobucket Ji Sun heads to the ship. Mid-way, the Traitor holds her hostage and asks for the Book of War (as his plan with Bat). The Qing Emissary hands it over without putting up a fight. Then a sword comes flying at the Traitor, injuring him. It’s Bat and he slices the Traitor man with no mercy. Dang, so Bat uses the traitor to prove his story to the Qing Emissary, and in turn gaining his trust. PhotobucketPhotobucket They proceed to the ship but is again met with hardship – this time in the form of Baek Dong Soo. Ji Sun advises him to leave, it’s her fate and there’s nothing they could do to change it. Dong Soo tells her to cut the crap and stop using fate as a excuse to be a victim. And he makes his heroic way towards her, “Trust me!Alice: Can we like move past Ji Sun’s arc already? It’s not her fault but more of Dong Soo. He’s so impulsive and arrogant when it comes to her. He becomes unlikable in those rash moments. He only sees her and disregards the effort someone is pouring out. It took him an episode long to say thank to Jin Ju! Boy, she was with you at your worst but you only want Ji Sun at your best? What the heck!! Throughout these two episodes, my eyes are just waiting to see Hwang Jin Gi and Jin Ju’s father-daughter moments. They match so well together.

Alice i was tearing my hair out after the events in ep 13, what the writers did was unforgivable. Even though there was no chance, i was still holding out to the hope that they'll indulge me and deviate from history by keeping Crown Prince Sado alive. I think i stopped breathing when Chief Im and then the Prince were stabbed. Jin Ju's was the final blow for me.
I think i got the premise wrong on the onset, or perhaps it was a subconsciously intentional misinterpretation. When i read that Dong Su and his friends were trained to protect the King, i think that's when the crazy idea came to my head that the King will be protected and therefore not killed – or atleast they'd put his death will be in the epilogue
I dislike Yeo Woon now – not that i liked him in the beginning – and he can do nothing to redeem himself, and that whole business of him getting "the seat" in the Hoksa Chorong, really? I don't buy it. I don't know if it was due to time constraints but i haven't seen enough growth/development of character/skill in Yeo Woon for him to actually be promoted to that high seat, if anything it was just him backstabbing his friends and sabotaging the plans. So he screws up the most important plan and that's it, he's now in the big leagues?Even Dong Su, i haven't seen him become the "Warrior" that he's supposed to be. The drama made up for it by keeping Jin Su alive, if she can't be with the king then she might as well be with Dong Su. Yes Jin Ju has always been there for Dong Su, but for the life of me chick annoys me to death. That actress's acting is not very good, if they had a different one i think i might share your sentiments

    Nice Blog!

Annette, my impression is that you have grown really attached to the deceased Crown Prince. 😛

I didn't think that the Crown Prince would die until you told me about his death in history. Later when I read that the warriors would protect the "King" I knew they weren't referring to Prince Sado anymore but his son, the King in history. I was mentally prepared.

I'm with you on Yeo Woon. He's puzzling almost all the viewers with his ambiguous intentions. I watched episode 15 & 16 live last week and was like this 0_o the whole time regarding his "collaborations". This drama is definitely taking the growth/development of Dong Soo really slowly. I'm not too happy but I cross my fingers after seeing his new hairdo at the end of episode 16. We only have 8 episodes left so the writer better amp things up next week. Please no more weepy sulking mode.

Your last paragraph got me thinking. You don't like Jin Ju? Personally, she hasn't done anything that I find annoying (well, the fire scene is not on my top 10 for sure), she's just quirky and adorable. 😀

You want Ji Sun with Dong Soo? I'm thoroughly surprised. Is because you don't like JJ or do you feel a connection between JS & DS? Ji Sun is probably what I would say as the weakest link in this love story. Maybe because she's so green in acting but I can't connect with her. Yes, her background is sad and tragic but the actress doesn't stir my heart when I watch her scenes. =/

If the writer does decide that Ji Sun and Dong Soo is the end game, I pray that they would stop Jin Ju's love for Dong Soo and do something better with her character. There are just sooo many potentials for her story to develop.

You mean WBDS is not ending at ep 16? I thought it was, i've started to lose my patience and interests in plots that give me a headache.

Honestly speaking, i don't really like Ji Sun that much – i prefer the young one – but i don't feel any negativity towards her. As you said, she's like a stone – just there. I also didn't connect with the older Ji Sun but i can tolerate her
With Jin Ju, her acting is just terrible. She's trying too hard to be quirky and adorable – with the younger one it was natural but this actress is struggling to "be" the character and in the end all that effort just comes off clumsy and annoying to the point i can't stand it. I like Dong Soo's character but not this girl and plus the boy has been in love with Ji sun for a while now so why the heck not.

The young Yeo Woon was more menacing and believable – he gave me chills down my spine just looking at him. He embodied what his character was but this older version, not so much. He's not even close. He's supposed to be conflicted because of the friendships he's made and the path he must take but this actor has failed to convey any of that. All he's good at is just being silent and emotionless. In my view he hasn't sold me on being a skilled swordman. His so called fighting skills are non existent for me. Its like we're going along with it just cause the story says so. With the young yeo Woon i believed it but with this one its not happening. I find it laughable that he is the leader of the Heuksa Chorong – even when he was intimidating On Pig it wasn't convincing. It would be more believable if the young yeo Woon was made the leader and was threatening On Pig.

I totally agree that the writers should immediately halt the Dong Soo Jin Ju love plot and put the focus elsewhere, say her relationship with her mother or finding out who her father is, etc.

I totally agree with all your opinions!
    >The child actors were so much better…kinda happened in "The Duo" too.
    >I also want Dong Su to end up with Ji Seon.  Seems like they have really deep feelings for each other.  >And yes, Jin Ju the character is cool, but the actress is annoying.  She should stop helping Dong Su out so much..then he will realize how much she did for him (wake up Dong Su!).  But also, she can focus on a different guy (from ep 15 haha!).

I think this drama is 24 eps?  If it ended at 16, it would be totally pointless.  I still don't know what the overall plot is.  The drama has not made it clear.

Annette, if this drama ends at episode 16 then I'm going to shred all my recaps for it. =P

I agree with the child actor for YW, he's scene stealer with killer aura and menacing eyes. I don't even know what the writer is going to do with YW from now…he's just there, popping out once in a while to save Ji Sun. Boring.

For the life of me, I don't feel the connection between Ji Sun and Dong Soo at all. Apparently, Korean netizens love them – they're called the Destiny Pair. For my own sanity, ship this pair to the Qing Nation and get on with the plot.

We have different opinion on Jin Ju. Aw.

Alice, OMG have you watched ep 16? The cliffhanger!! I was like WHAT! I can't believe it, i never saw it coming for real. We'll discuss when you watch it.

Totally agree about the lack of chemistry between DS and JS, it feels forced/put together – especially from her end.
You were right about Dong Soo's hair – when i first saw him i was like WuuWuu! He's definitely upped his hotness level, as  for Yeo Wun's hair, not sure i like it.

And what you said is true about the direction the writers are goin to take for YW. I guess now since he's the head of the Heuksa Chorong they're goin to focus on that. I hope they actually let him grow more, gain more experience so to speak, make him earn/deserve the seat not the nonsense they have chucked at us so far.

I had seen somewhere that WBDS was goin to end at 16 but turns out its goin to be 26 eps. That's too many eps left for a storyline that has already lost its steam, i feel like they don't have much of a plot to sustain all those eps. I fear its goin to get draggy, and it started so well 🙁

  8. 13 thoughts on “[Summary] Warrior Baek Dong Soo Episode 13 & 14

That is quite true, about The Duo. When they were younger i could tolerate the actors but when they grew up it started to fall apart i and switched off at ep 8 or 9 i think.

Maybe the lack of chemistry between DS and JS was because she didn't reciprocate his feelings, but now that some obstacles are out of the way and she is willing to respond to DS, we might begin to see that connection. But when i saw her with Prince Sado's son i was thinking, oh-uh. Let's see what happens in the coming eps.

Finally, its nice to see someone who feels the same way about Jin Ju. I just don't know what it about that actress. The guy you're talking about in ep 15, is it the painter? I like that guy! I think he's funny and cute, and i was also thinking that maybe they should get together. Although things might get complicated in the light of the revelation of both Jin Ju's parents, i think things might get a little interesting.I found out that the drama is actually 26 eps, different websites put different numbers so still not sure which is right

  9. 13 thoughts on “[Summary] Warrior Baek Dong Soo Episode 13 & 14

Annette, this show is originally 24 episodes BUT the PD is thinking of an extension, up to 30 episodes. Dang, serious business, not sure how I feel….

  10. 13 thoughts on “[Summary] Warrior Baek Dong Soo Episode 13 & 14

30 eps, i am not too sure abt that. I don't really think they have much to go on, cos i don't think Jin Ju's story can take more than 2 eps, or yeo Woon and BDS training till the day they have "the fight". Hopefully the story/writing gets better cos the way it is right now i would not advise it – but then again maybe the audience response in Korea was encouraging

How crazy is it that the Sky Lord is Jin Ju's father! At first i thought it might be the Swordsaint but am actually glad that he's not.

Aguhhh been sick for a week (flu >.<) So much catch up to do. Not to mention the backlog of last season…thankfully I still have a few weeks before my courses start up. Getting ep.2 of brothers atm (wayy behind!! but subs aren't even 100% on darksmurf yet… meh) but more focused on WBDS… but friends have been trying to get me to play mmo (this is where I played my sick card :P) *sigh* obligations getting in the way of my drama! and my bangs too. I can't see sh*t ><. On ep.14, getting 15 😛 >.> first thing I do as I recover is get drama…

thoughts on 13: Why Prince?! You're so dumb >< So many people died so that you may survive and carry on the dream but you just throw yourself at the sky lord. (I really really like the sky lord :P) I thought that the Prince was playing dead/passed out from blood loss but he's dead. Passed over. It was depressing. Then the whole… scene w/Dong Soo…I've a faint feeling of Deja Vu… at least sides and lines are all established now. 🙁 I hate emo Dong Soo (spelling and yes, I'm super behind so I know things changed. And I'm avoiding Alice's recap of the other episodes 😛 until later tonight.) Just wish that he learn to fight from the sword saint already -w- I also expect wushu somewhere in the back of my head. This happens in wushu allll the time. Main guy falls in depression, learns martial arts/wisdom, then bam!! owo amazing powers with really really bad cg effects. But that won't happen in this historical piece 😛 >.>
