[Recap] Warrior Baek Dong Soo Episode 11

Photobucket
Are you guys ready for this game-changer episode? Because our prince begins his first steps over to the dark side. While Dong Soo falls deeper in love with Ji Sun. Please prepare heart medicine for me, I’ll need it for the future.

I read that episode 11 and 12 are especially hard to translate because of the names and phrases. So I would like to thank DarkSmurfSub subbing team for all their hard work! Really, I love you guys!

At the secret meeting, the men bow down to Queen Jung Sun as she warns everyone that mistakes are not tolerated. Hong dae Joo promises to take the Crown Prince’s life at all costs.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Sneaking outside the wall of Crown Prince’s palace is Rat, Hong Dae Joo’s dumb follower. Joining him is the elder evil twin, Hong Sa Hae. They’re waiting for a chance to capture the Samini (female monk). Fortunately, Ji Sun encounters lovesick Dong Soo and he grabs her hand to run. Once they’re alone, he tells her to use the other passage while he diverts the two idiots away.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Chief Im smells something fishy outside the gisaeng house, having seen many big names leaving the place, but the Madam there feigns innocence.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Ji Sun is about to walk through the entrance when Dong Soo swings down, body hanging in the air. He asks her why she’s in the palace, perhaps because of Crown Prince? Ji Sun shakes her head, she’s here to get rid of a heavy burden (read: the tattoo). She notices the her jade pendant that she had dropped years ago now hanging around Dong Soo’s neck. Dong Soo reveals that it had saved him from death once and therefore keeps it near him for luck. Ji Sun smiles demurely and tells him that it belonged to her. Eeekk….no more…please…no more destiny talk.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Acting on his overwhelming emotions, Dong Soo reaches out to touch her….which is when our little Prince Yeo Woon sees them. Ow, ow, ow! Not my heart, it’s my fist kissing the laptop screen. That is all. Finding his action inappropriate, Dong Soo quickly retracts his hand.

Photobucket
Chun meets with Hong Dae Joo and the latter shows him the copy of Ji Sun’s map. Before he hands this map over to the Qing Emperor, Hong Dae Joo wonders what Chun might do with it, if he lends him the map. Chun doesn’t care because he deems the map as a fake. Oh, I think I see how it is. The gisaeng, Gu Hyang, is really working for Chun so she might have tweaks the roads on the map before handing it to Hong Dae Joo.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Returning to Hoksa Chorong, Chun’s behavior is questioned by Ji, “Why are you acting like this if you want to get out of here, have freedom?” Chun can’t give her a valid reason either but he knows one thing – he wants her, everybody, to be under his feet.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Having completed their task, Dong Soo and Yeo Woon return to the beacon post, happily greeted by a proud Cho Rip. The duo turns to Ajusshi Seo Yu Dae and uncovers his lies. He was sent here (Beacon post) ten days earlier than them and he was a second-ranked General no less. Cho Rip drops his jaw in disbelief.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Jang Mi relays to Sa Mo that Dong Soo was bitten by a snake but he’s fine now. Sa Mo blurts out his hundred-words-per-minute way of showing concern as Yang Mi calms him down with drinks. She carefully states that this is why a household needs a woman in charge, so shouldn’t Sa Mo finds himself a wife? At this, Sa Mo ajusshi spits out the drink from his mouth and nose. Are you so dense or simply being evasive Ajusshi?

Photobucket
Drinking alone is Sword Saint, brooding over Ji’s stabbing words, “The Ga Ok you knew is dead.” Mi So comes by to bring him more dishes and he have her sit down. Hwang Taek asks her age. She’s twenty. Dang, dang, dang. Did all the brothers decide to have babies on the same year, 20 years ago or what? What’s with all these 20 year-old kids!

Photobucket
That night, our trio lies on the table and watches the starry night as they confess to missing the mountain brothers. Aww! Tomorrow they’ll be leaving the Beacon Post and returning to the palace. Ajusshi Yu Dae congratulates the boys and muses that Dong Soo will do great things in the future, having gone through hardships.

Unfortunately, after he sends them off, Seo Yu Dae is captured by Hong Dae Joo’s Rat Man. Gasps! Let him goooooooo!

PhotobucketPhotobucket
As for Jin Ju, Hwang Jin Gi successfully stops her before she heads out to bid good bye to Dong Soo.

Photobucket
Aw, no way, mane of glory is gone because the boys officially have buns now! *inputs sad face* Clean cut, they are presented to Chief Im who gives them a few pointers as newbies in the palace. They are to be watchful and cautious of their behavior and speech from now on.

Photobucket
Inside the palace, Hong Dae Joo has a quick chat with the Minister of Justice. He tells the man to alight Crown Prince’s ship because it’s sinking and the Minister sneers at the threat. Hong Dae Joo isn’t backing down and assures him that any rock blocking his path will be kicked to the side.

Photobucket
That night, Hong Dae Joo checks out on Bat. He has ordered an metal arm to replace Bat’s missing limb. WHAT THE CRAP! Of course, with Bat and his sickening attitude for revenge, he accepts all errands given by Hong Dae Joo. This is bad. Very bad, right guys?

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Meanwhile, Chun pays a visit to Prince Sado’s palace. He wants the Prince to give up his dream of invading Qing, a bigger and stronger country than Joseon. Is Chun actually giving the Prince a chance to live? Anyway, Prince Sado is firm on his belief and deems Chun as something other than a human being, if he chose to be on the opposite side. Chun snaps back, “If I’m not human being simply because we’re not on the same side, then you’re nothing more than a beast to me.” Oooooo, are they saying the same thing? If you’re a beast, I won’t hesitate to kill you.

Photobucket
Chun then lays a wrapped object on the table, saying it’s his treasure. If they survived to meet next time, he would introduce this “fellow” to Prince Sado. Before he departs, Chun whispers that it’s best to let that illusion/dream slowly drift away.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
So what happens to Ajusshi Yu Dae? He’s being tortured by Hong Dae Joo which is witnessed by Chief Im. Hong is trying to make Yu Dae confess that Crown Prince was the one exercising military orders in HamGyeong province. This is a fatal deed that could render a death penalty. However, Yu Dae is no ordinary ajusshi as he clenches his teeth, refusing to let anything slip. Hong smiles evilly and says that the Crown Prince will end up like him today.

Photobucket
In the palace, the King is furious because Hong Dae Joo has informed him about General Seo Yu Dae working together with Prince Sado to plan a revolt! He brings forward the maps.

Photobucket
After learning about the situation, Chief Im reports back to Prince Sado about General Seo. Prince Sado decides to meet with Yu Dae but Chief Im tells him to stay put in this dire situation. Feeling that something’s wrong, Prince Sado opens his safe – the scrolls carrying the maps are empty. Ruh-oh. Just then, Prince Sado is asked to join the officers and King in the meeting hall.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
The King is clutching the maps and asks what it contains. Prince Sado remains quiet while Hong Dae Joo confirms it to be the Northern Expedition Book of War. The Qing Emissary calls this an act of treason against the Qing Nation. To hide this matter, the King would have to send Crown Prince to his death.

Photobucket
Hearing enough of this nonsense, Crown Prince scorns at the word “Treason”. How is it treason if we are claiming back the property we lost to the Qing Nation? The King roars over their conversation and orders them to shut up. Prince Sado isn’t afraid of death but he wishes for the truth to be revealed.

Photobucket
Standing on the side is Prince Sado’s father-in-law, Hong Bo Han, who we learned from last episode, is on the same side as Hong Dae Joo. He points out that the Prince is wearing a gown imprinted with an Emperor Qing’s trademark- a dragon with seven claws. Then it dawns on Prince Sado that he was used by Queen Jung Sun, who gave him the gown a few days earlier. The bad guys is piling up, your mother hates you, your father doesn’t love you. Prince, what did you do in your past life?

Photobucket
The King steps down from his seat to get a closer look. Wide-eyed, he holds his head in pain and quickly slices the gown. YAH! Don’t scare me like that! Lucky Annette has told me how Prince is going to die….whew.

Photobucket
Cut back to Chief Im as he orders the trio to escort Ji Sun away from the palace.

Photobucket
Back in the meeting hall, Prince Sado kneels and pleads the King to see his sincere heart. However, the whole freakin palace chimes in to pressure the King, “The Crown Prince must be prosecuted!”

Photobucket
And finally, the King strips Prince Sado of his title. Sado looks like a dead person as he takes off his gown. Brimming with indignity, a tear slips down his cheek. So hard to watch.

After the meeting, the bad guys all laugh heartily. And here I wonder whether or not their hearts have been eaten by the wolves. Must have.

Photobucket
Due to the tight security, Dong Soo and his gang is planning an escape route while Ji Sun stares at him, idle in her seat. He has decided to exit using the gate reserved for dead people. Oh, Yeo Woon is impressed, so am I.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Prince Sado is locked in jail. Queen Jung Sun visits him and silently mocks his choice of road. Prince Sado’s son, Jeong Jo, cries to see his father’s current state. Hmmm, if Crown Prince does indeed die in the upcoming weeks, Dong Soo and the gang might protect Jeong Jo, right? Since he was the next King in history.

Dong Soo carries out his plan. With him acting as a corpse, Yeo Woon, Cho Rip, and Ji Sun acting as guards, they make it outside safely.
Photobucket
Wearing their comfortable clothes and mane of glory, the boys march their way into the mountain. They are stopped by the….MOUNTAIN BROTHERS! Only 3 of them graduated (hehe!), from left to right: Sang Gak, Tae Yong, Yong Geol. I really cherish their smiles.

Photobucket
Sa Mo Ajusshin then enters the scene and immediately takes a look at Dong Soo’s arm to see the bite marks. Oh you’re so biased! =P

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Suddenly, a small knife flies toward Ji Sun, luckily, Sa Mo grabs it with his bare hand. When another knife comes towards Dong Soo’s back, Sa Mo is quick to take the stab. Arggg!! FREAKKKKKK!

Photobucket
It’s BAT!! Bloody hell. Someone give me a gun so I can end his despicable life! My blood pressure is raised! How dare you hurt my Sa Mo ajusshi! DIEEEEEEEEE!! Yes, I know it’s immature to draw faces but…it’s harmless!

PhotobucketPhotobucket
The mountain brothers battle it out with Bat and get their butts kicked. Man, I’m disappointed but they’re newbies so I forgive. Bat then points to the girly looking boy (Yeo Woon) and tells him to step out. Dong Soo lets Sa Mo into the care of Cho Rip and grabs his sword but Yeo Woon insists that he deals with Bat.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
A voice from behind turns Bat around, it’s SWORD SAINT! YAY! I’m happy to see you buhhh I would prefer it if you come in later, I want to see my boys fight! Sword Saint shakes his head in shame, “It’s my mistake, I should have killed you back then.” Heck yes. Have you been reading my summary?!

Bat is definitely scared so he uses a smoke bomb to escape. Aw man. Should I rename you to Rat now?

Chief Im assures Prince Sado that Ji Sun has safely left the palace. But the King wants to see him. Oh, what now King?

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Sword Saint leads his gang to Hwang Jin Gi’s hideout. Sa Mo’s wound is deep but if he survives tonight, he should be fine tomorrow. Ji Sun places a hand on Dong Soo’s shoulder to comfort him. This doesn’t go unnoticed by Jin Ju.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Since the hideout only has one female room for Jin Ju, Ji Sun has to share. Jin Ju is reluctant and lies that she and Dong Soo are engaged. Silly girl.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Overwhelmed with his incompetence, Dong Soo breaks down. Okay, I don’t know how Ji Chang Wook did it, but his quivering lips makes my heart heavy. Boy should do a melodrama. Everyone watches as he sobs his heart out.

Photobucket
In the following days, Sword Saint trains Dong Soo, trying to get him in the right mindset. He wants the boy to hold a sword with his heart instead of with burning rage. Only an earnest heart can swing a sword. Lies! I’m swinging a sword right now! In my head? Full of evil thoughts for Bat. heee!

Yeo Woon asks to be taught by Sword Saint. After a few hits, Sword Saint notes the strong desire in Yeo Woon’s heart to kill. Wow, really? The boy doesn’t need to be reminded by you people all the times!

Photobucket
Sitting together, Dong Soo muses that he is destined with Ji Sun. He wishes to protect her in place of Prince Sado. Um, yea.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Dong Soo holds Sa Mo’s hand and recites the line he used to say as a child:

“Open your eyes Sa Mo. There are two things I’m most afraid of. 1) Sa Mo would die, leaving me all alone in this world…”

Like a magic wish, Sa Mo struggles to regain consciousness.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Night falls and Yeo Woon meets with Chun. The latter is indignant when it comes to battling with Sword Saint. Chun confesses, “It’s because he would never show all that he knows in a duel with me.” Yeo Woon thinks it’s because he’s stronger but Chun disagrees, “It’s more like he doesn’t have an intent to kill and therefore cannot beat me.” That’s why it’s no fun beating him. But today, Chun has a solution, in order to see Sword Saint’s murderous eyes, he gives Yeo Woon an order. Go to the butcher shop……

Photobucket
Yeo Woon looks at the carved word on the floor. “Kill.” His cheek muscles twitch under his skin. Gahh!

Oh Myyyyyyyyy! Deep in their peaceful sleep are the mountain brothers! Two of them!

PhotobucketPhotobucket
The other assassin pulls out his sword but Yeo Woon stops him, taking it as his personal task. He covers Tae Yong’s mouth and stabs!

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Sang Gak wakes up from the commotion and Yeo Woon inserts a needle to freeze him. The tragic part is that Sang Gak recognizes Yeo Woon’s dark eyes, “You’re Woonie, right?” With that Yeo Woon dives a knife into his friend’s body! A tear escapes his miserable eye….

Alice: Holy, Moly. When I watched this part raw, I immediately asked the warrior & ninja gang to PRAY! Pray that the brothers don’t die or else I’m saying good-bye to Yeo Woon. He didn’t take baby steps to the dark side but took 10 freakin steps in one move!

I’m really getting annoyed at all this “destiny to kill” talk. Honestly,  the reason behind Yeo Woo’s motivation isn’t strong enough for me. Indeed, his dad didn’t raise him lovingly but Yeo Woon spent the majority of his childhood and early adulthood with Dong Soo and Sa Mo. Surely, his bond for them is stronger than the countable days he’s been with Chun?

Let’s all hope that Yeo Woon avoids the vital organs.

"Hwang Taek asks her age. She's twenty. Dang, dang, dang. Did all the brothers decide to have babies on the same year, 20 years ago or what? What's with all these 20 year-old kids!"

LOL there must have been a full moon that night… or the Joseon Giants won the World Series nine months prior to their births. 🙂

Another perfect recap, my dear — don't blame you for staying away if this is the result of your small absences!  I'm just happy to see that FINALLY people are starting to wake up and watch WDBS (as evidenced by this week's yummy ratings).  It's gotten so under my skin that any sign of JCW's quivering chin sends me running for the tissues STAT.  I highly suggest buying some stock in Kleenex before you start in on Eps 13 and 14 though.  Just sayin'.  🙂

haha Cherkell, I think they all managed to have a marriage break…as for Sword Saint, his one-night-stand was appropriately timed. ^^

Oh yea, I'm so proud of the ratings! The warrior & ninja team is growing bigger at soompi too, I notice. =P

My Kleenex box is by my side at all times. Dang these dramas!
