Ancient Drama Updates: Legend of Fu Yao, The King of Blaze, God of Lost Fantasy, Win The World
I was preparing for bed until I saw the onslaught of updates on news sites. Turns out it’s Qixi Festival aka Chinese Valentine’s Day! Drama productions release new stills to celebrate the annual meeting of two (tragic) lovers, the tale of Zhi Nu and Niu Lang’s forbidden love as the cowherd and weaver girl in Chinese mythology. I’m sure we have at least watched one adaptation of this story.
You might drown in the stills so I focus mostly on ancient dramas….for now. Lol.
Raymond Lam’s scary transformation as the crazy Monkey King
Based on the novel of the same name written by Jia Yu Bu Shi Gui, The Legends of Monkey King features Raymond Lam, Jin Akanishi (as Er Lang Shen), and Jiang Meng Jie (as Holy Mother) in the remake of the classic story some know by heart: The Journey To The West. The premise follows a mortal man who accidentally time-travels to the past and finds himself the Monkey King. Not willing to accept a fate forced on himself, he sets out to change the course of the future.
Jin Akanishi joins Raymond Lam, Jiang Meng Jie in The Legends of Monkey King
Lol. So many monkey kings running around in 2016 and 2017, both on the big and small screen. Here’s another drama related to Sun Wu Kong. Hong Kong actor Raymond Lam will take on the titular role while Japanese actor, Akanishi Jin, joins the production as probably the most handsome Er Lang Shen ever. Rising actress Jiang Meng Jie will play Holy Mother and Kenji Wu rounds out the cast as Tian Peng aka Pig. The Legends of Monkey King (大泼猴) follows a mortal man who accidentally time-travels to the past and finds himself the Monkey King. Not willing to accept a fate forced on himself, he sets out to the change the course of the future. At least this one has a twist in it.

First posters are out for two period dramas that started filming last winter, which seemed like a long time ago. Lol.
One is the historical drama Rule The World and the other is based on video game, Gu Jian Qi Tan 2 or Legend of the Ancient Sword 2.
