Vibrant costumes for Wang Li Kun and Joe Cheng’s Legend of the Heavenly Tear

Adapted from the novel, Incomparable Phoenix (凤凰无双) written by Bing Lan Sha, Legend of the Heavenly Tear stars Wang Li Kun and Joe Cheng as the main leads. The story follows our heroine (Wang Li Kun) as she’s back-stabbed by her revenge-driven husband (Zhang Xiao Long) and kicked out of the family, and then saved by our hero (Joe Cheng), ruler of Qi State (?). She gets a makeover and a new name for her “rebirth” and plots her way to the throne as Empress. That’s the bare bone of the plot. Now I will party and live life a littttle. 😉

Posters and Press Conference 6/4/16:

Let’s not even talk about the costumes, the lavish head pieces are equally intricate! And a little too much too.

The cast and costumes and everything are gorgeous! out of the guys tho, I feel like Allen Ting looks the best. Esp in his first pic. Sharp and commanding. Joe’s face is kind of obscured by his ridiculous side-bangs (IMO, not a fan of the hair), and the other dude…looks like a clean and neat hobo…like what’s with the dangling strips of hair? Joe could look as great, but Allen’s styling is just so sharp and smart; Joe’s hair and costume doesn’t pull off the same commanding/authoritative air.

YEP! Allen’s robes are amazing and gives that air of authority!

Wow, I really like the colorfulness of all the costumes. It’s not overbearing and actually pleasant for me to look at. Just with the style and shades of the costumes, all the actors look so vibrant and full of energy. Even though there’s no actor here that really catches my eye, the costumes look to be a pretty good incentive to get me watching this drama lol. I love Bai Bing’s poster the most! The first poster makes Wang Li Kun look like a deity of some sort with all that gold and elaborate head piece ~_~

It’s funny because Wang Li Kun also looks like a deity in The Gods with Luo Jin. hehe.

Ooo Joe…is this his first costume drama? Been waiting forever to see him on them! Too bad Ariel Lin is not joining him…T_T…. But he has that young Louis Koo’s Yang Guo look, agree he should’ve not done the bangs but at least I think he’s still fine in them. I’m fine with the vibrant colors here, it’s not as bad as YZ choice because they seem to be toned down a bit here and not annoying to the eye. U know what I mean if you play mario and you know YZ seem to like bright colors exactly like yoshi…
I haven’t seen any of the ladies before (besides Xiong Nai Jin) and they don’t seem to stand out judging by looks, but hope it’s going to be a good drama.

Joe’s first foray in costume dramas is Chinese Paladin 5, which is airing right now. He looks great with braids, just not with the bangs here haha.

I am not-so-secretly hoping Allen Ting plays a villain. He looks like one here. =P

The guys have it so easy. The ladies look like their necks might break, as gorgeous as those headpieces are.

Wang Likun is so beautiful in costume series. It’s no wonder she’s in a lot of them hehe.

What do you think?
