Vic Zhou, Hu Bing Qing, and Chen Yao for Gui Zhong Mei Ren

I still don’t quite believe this news even if many news portal came out with the same thing the past several days. It’s hard to imagine Vic Zhou along the two rising starlets, Hu Bing Qing and Chen Yao, right? Both are both in the 90s and more than 10 years younger than him (92’er and 94’er). Doesn’t help that they look much younger and doesn’t have much flesh on their bodies, Lol. Booting ceremony took place a few days ago and Vic Zhou wasn’t present because….he accompanied his wife to the doctor. Got it? Youngest member of F4 is now the first father of all! Congratulations Vic! The baby will be so cute!

As always, I try my best with translating the synopsis for you peeps (don’t expect 100% accuracy) and here’s what I came up with after laboring to understand the novel: Gui Zhong Mei Ren (柜中美人) is a drama adaptation of the novel (胭脂醉) written by Shui He. Hu Bing Qing as Qing Feng and Chen Yao as Fei Luan; former is a yellow-throated marten and the latter is a fox spirit. Docile Fei Luan is taken in by Qing Feng’s mother and both grew up to be a pair of close sisters. Vic Zhou will play the new emperor of the Tang Dynasty and Chen Ruo Xuan will play the gentle scholar preparing for the Imperial Examination. The current emperor at the time neglects his duties and spends time playing and frolicking with the ladies. He also has a habit of hunting foxes late at night. With their declining population and innocent deaths rising, the enraged Fox Clan wages a war against the royal family. They reserve a special pearl that boosts power and beauty to the consumer, which is stolen by the pair of sisters and split between them. They enter the Palace as dancers to fulfill the mission of killing the Emperor. But before the sisters could kill the emperor, he’s abruptly assassinated, and the throne goes to Vic Zhou’s character (after the Crown Prince is killed off too). It’s love at first sight for Qing Feng with the new handsome king, but his eyes follow the demure and innocent personality of Fei Luan. To keep the King for herself, Qing Feng becomes a matchmaker for Fei Luan and the scholar, and they do end up together as a couple. Obstacles arise left and right, testing Qing Feng and the King’s love. She’s sent to work as a palace maid before being freed and the King after dictating the Crown Prince, also disappears. Turns out he left his throne to live in peace with Qing Feng in the end. [Happily Ever After.]

Keep in mind that with any drama adaptation, the story will change.

Huh. I actually really like the synopsis. I hope they don’t change that and make the sisters rivals in a love triangle. I love when 2 separate OTPs work out and everyone’s happy. Despite them being newbies with little experience and undeveloped (but with potential) skills, I LOVE both Chen Yao and Hu Bing Qing. They’re such cute and awkward adorable babies! And they’re so sweet and smiley (awkward babies, the two of them)! Even if they accidentally suck all the time, I’d still love them (just like my illogical unexplainable love for Sun Xiao Xiao). People like Zhang Meng, Chen Qiao En, I think they’re still decent actresses with breakthrough points and lots of potential just with terrible taste and choice of characters. But Sun Xiao Xiao…I ADORE her but I can’t really justify her acting in any specific drama. She’s certainly not terrible but…hard to tell cuz frankly she doesn’t really have lead roles either.

Definitely hope they don’t make either of the girls into cray-cray-boy-crazy type. Nice to see Chen Yao in an innocent role. X)

Sometimes, we can’t help who we love and adore despite their shortcomings. It’s okay! 😀

Wow at the synopsis, the emperor giving up the throne for the beauty? If it’s not the emperor who planned the assassination of the previous Emperor and the Crown Prince,I guess it would be rather convincing that the Emperor would do that. If not, the ending is just meh for me even though I love HE. But then again, I actually like the synopsis too *coughs*!

Interesting. He could’ve killed off the useless Emperor and no one could fault him. But I would like to think he has soft heart if he chooses love over the throne. hehe.

Wow, Vic is a father. Congrats to him and Reen! The only one that’s left in F4 is Jerry. I sometimes wonder if he’s still hung up on Chiling.

The plot seems interesting. I wonder how Qing Feng will win over the new Emperor’s heart if his sights are set on her sister. Maybe the novel will tell me… 😛

If you read it, let me know what you think or if it’s worth reading. there’s probably not a english trans or audio yet, but if it’s getting adapted, you bet it’s going to find it’s way onto shushengbar soon.

Miss Polaris, how many novels are stacked under your wings already? Lol. I think not knowing too much about the plot keeps me sane from the countless numbers of drama-to-novel adaptations these days. Heavens!!

Oh Jerry. He needs to pass down down adorable dimples, is all I’m saying!

You are a smart one, Kap. I should probably stop reading these novels because I can never finish them. Lol.

        Somebody find him a woman!

What do you think?
