Posters for Supporting Cast of drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Uh Oh. I’m seeing a trend now. Just like Chusen, this one is gonna invite a bunch of stars while not having the leads on hands yet. Should we be worried? Anyhoo, they are quenching your thirst every day with posters releases. Lol. So I have a small request for novel fans: help me fill in the gap of character description. That way, non-book fans like myself won’t drown in the list of names… (I’m sure we still do anyway but it’s helpful.) Thanks! ;D

Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms is the drama adaptation of Tang Qi Gong Zi‘s novel, depicting the lives of two immortals as they are teared apart in one lifetime and given another chance to meet through another form of themselves.

NOTE: New Posters will be added in batches. LAST UPDATED: 4/26/16. Scroll down to the highlighted red font for new stills!

The posters look so nice! Loving them more than Zhuxian’s so far.
Getting impatient for Yang Mi’s poster to be released lol.

Is this being produced in connection with Yang Mi’s studio? Just saying — with her involved, AND the girl from her studio, AND Dilireba (who is her studio too, no?) — I wouldn’t have thought so since I get the impression her studio is still pretty new/raw/capital-needy so wouldn’t be poised to do a big production like this, but maybe if it’s like, a 3-way studio split or something.

Guessing the more likely story is that Yang Mi only agreed to do it if people from her company could also be involved — but would be interested to see if others know more!

Yep, Yang Mi studio is the other production company involved, hence we see both new and rising stars from her side. I only mentioned Maggie because she’s pretty new and the usual trio have been on countless promotions with Yang Mi before. Lol. She’s a good promoter.

Hmm…Vengo Gao looks pretty good! *surprise* Really like Dilraba and him, only cuz I’ve been reading the Pillow Book, and I LOVE Feng Jiu and Dong Hua Di Jun. Awesome awesome couple. I’m used to loving male leads in C-novels, but Feng Jiu’s really awesome too! She’s hilarious, sassy and can be playful, yet mature and is powerful in her own right without being a perfect Mary-Sue. Like, she’s cute without being too over, if you know what I mean. She can be cute without sounding like a naive, ignorant, innocent, sheltered little child. They should do a (good) adaptation of the Pillow Book. I hear part 2 is really slow and draggy though. It’s just the OTP that carries peeps through book 2, then the final part of the Pillow Book is supposed to get better. So sad. I apparently downloaded book1 translation (Hamster’s) from the web like a while ago and never read it. But I didn’t download book 2. Now that I am reading it, I go back to look for the trans of book2, except Hamster took it down (due to the plagiarism allegations against TQGZ author). I wish I had downloaded book2 when it was still up. Cuz shushengbar hasn’t updated its Eng trans link, and no one else has translated the Pillow Book in full (there are certain scenes floating around out there).

If anything it just proves Yang Mi really knows how to pick her people! Vengo, Dilraba, and Leon Zhang Yun Long are all part of Yang Mi’s studio LOL

I read both books in the series, the original 3 Lives + its sequel and honestly Tang7’s writing is shit. If not for the fact that she fucking plagiarizes from everyone no-one would even read her stuff. Her prose is a Goddamn mess because only the bits she copied are good and her own bits are an insult to the Chinese language and waste of the paper the books are printed on.

I heard that the 3 Lives movie won’t come out so soon because even if it’s made, the plagiarism allegations still stand (because she DID plagiarize and despite all the bullying of the original author, it doesn’t change the fact that Tang7’s a despicable plagiarist).

      • 23 thoughts on “Posters for Supporting Cast of drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Lol agree agree. I actually tried looking for the original of 3L3W, which is apparently BL, which is totally (maybe? I haven’t ACTUALLY read any asian/Chinese BL, so I actually have no idea, and I have enough reading experience to know that western lit/novels/style/culture does NOT equal Chinese, so actually, my interest in LGBTQ romance might not even translate to Chinese BL) up my alley, but it’s not really…widespread, so I couldn’t find any format that I could read, translated, audio, etc.

Yeah Tang7’s prose is basically the reason why despite 3-4 attempts, I’ve never been able to focus for more than 2 or 3 minutes of the audiobooks. She’s just SO flowery and VERBOSE! I really can’t focus through her description and I sort of end up tuning the audio out. Despite her crappy writing style though, I still rather like her characters and setting set-up, although I guess with the plagiarism, that largely translates from someone else (DFGG Da Feng Gua Guo) original material. Plus I’m way more willing to read Tang7’s work when Hamster was translating, one because Hamster’s great and prob more concise and understandable, and two because in English, I can at least skim through needless descriptions to get to the point. Regardless, I can totally understand why Hamster took it down. It must have been very upsetting to spend SO much time and effort only to have it all by plagiarized stuff.

Honestly though, it’s a little sad to say this, but I feel like Tang7’s not even such a big deal, cuz I feel like plagiarism is SUCH a common theme in the C-ent industry, that you sort of become numb and accustomed to plagiarism. Says a lot about the system in place. Lol personally I think one of the reasons why the US has better traffic control and plagiarism/rights regulation is the sheer availability of expensive and troublesome lawsuits. Lol. Instead of going through the hassle of people suing you all the time, might as well obey traffic laws and copyright laws. Very sad but realistic. Studies in econ have shown that people (well under the assumption that people are rational…clearly NOT the case. At all for at least 60% of the time) respond better when there are clear incentives and costs to their decisions. People in the average human population generally don’t do things out of the goodness of their hearts.

Anyways. I’ve been sidetracked. Yeah. So Tang7, despite how utterly disrespectful and shameless her actions are, is quite frankly a common occurrence from what I see. I never follow these news very closely, but I feel like there’s ALWAYS plagiarism speculations following people like Tong Hua (I never remember which end she’s on, being plagiarized or doing the plagiarizing…either way, her work sadly isn’t too mindblowing anyways…as a script writer at least *cough Perfect Couple*), Guo JingMing (that his name? the short Tiny Times dude), and…yep Yu Zheng.

It’s because the legal system protects those who have money and don’t give a shit about the victims. Sad fact but that’s the way it is around the world. Nobody said life was fair.

BL is taboo in China so DFGG’s books are only published in Taiwan. She doesn’t have the fame and fortune that Tang7 has and because DFGG’s books are BL, Tang7 took advantage of that cuz naturally Chinese law will favor her instead of the original author.

I posted a link to DFGG’s original novel in another post about the 3 Lives movie in reply to chasingpolaris … I dunno if you saw it

Seriously Hamster did the right thing by pulling her translation from the web because it’s just a matter of principle. Shameless plagiarists don’t deserve to have their plagiarized works being freely advertised by hardworking translators while the original authors (whose hard work was shamelessly stolen) are suffering as a result.

    • 23 thoughts on “Posters for Supporting Cast of drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

And not only does her prose suck, but Tang7’s stories are all basically the same and all her characters fit the same mold. There’s no creativity / originality and honestly after a while you just get sick of reading the same recycled shit over and over again

    • 23 thoughts on “Posters for Supporting Cast of drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

But ignoring my gripe with Tang7’s despicable acts, Dilraba and Vengo look awesome here 🙂

Tang7’s a shit but the actors and production workers are not at fault

Haha kind of weird that Dijun’s robe is “slick” and shiny-looking, but the purple is expected. According to the books, Dong Hua’s classic characteristics is his white hair and purple robes. He’s so hilarious as a character. One translated quote sums him up perfectly: “To Dong Hua Dijun, face has never been treated as part of his body.” (credits to decembi). DHDJ si confident enough to not care about pride or “face”; he can be quite shameless and a lot of his comments are so hilariously brutal and sort of leave you like “…” did-he-really-just-say-that. He’s got that calm-face-slow-unhurried-movements aura. Really cool and awesome.

Basically Dong Hua is like a retired heavenly emperor. The xianxia world is split into different realms, and Feng Jiu is one of the queens of QingQui (not sure if it’s a “realm” or sect or something like that), the other being Bai Qian, who sort of hands off the reigns to Feng Jiu after her marriage to Ye Hua (end of this book/drama). Dong Hua is technically retired, but he was once the emperor of ALL the realms. Like basically he is THE dude up there. In events he sits above all the deities, and the other deities all are terrified of his presence and overly respectful. He’s like a million years old or something too (but as all popular novels has it, he’s of course still young and beautiful looking). He’s also a bit of a recluse. Ye Hua’s sweeter and more romantic, well like overtly romantic, but Dong Hua like infinitely powerful.

Feng Jiu’s also supposed to be one of the youngest queens of QingQui ever (she’s “only” 30,000 years old compared to Bai Qian’s like 400,000 or something…I just remember Bai Qian’s age has an extra 0) and very talented in martial arts/swordplay (at least for her age; she’s not like an all-powerful prodigy or something). Haven’t read Ten Miles yet, so I only know stuff about FJ and DHDJ who are in the sequel the Pillow Book.

Thanks for the info Juli! Looks like you’re really into novels these days with the drought in dramaland. heh.

      • 23 thoughts on “Posters for Supporting Cast of drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Yep. For anyone interested over on Fanatical, Together Forever is being translated. Ever since reading one of her other translations, I’ve come to REALLY like Mo Bao Fei Bao. She generally does modern setting though. Well actually, my novel-reading-listening trend started when I started listening to the audiobooks for DaoMuBiJi which in my opinion is SO awesome, but because I don’t like the other voices, I haven’t gotten past half-way through book 2 since like fall last year.

Some costume designers like to utilize western elements in period costume dramas, the results which look strange enough. But there’s nothing Chinese about this ‘golden’ dress shown above.

    • 23 thoughts on “Posters for Supporting Cast of drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Well, to be fair, this is xianxia, so there’s a lot of fantasy elements going on. Maybe they want to make it a little more different.

    • 23 thoughts on “Posters for Supporting Cast of drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

I agree with you. The dress is nice and all but it’s too Western looking and doesn’t quite fit with the setting of the story: long time ago in ancient Chinese history…

  7. 23 thoughts on “Posters for Supporting Cast of drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Am I the only one who thinks Vengo Gao does not fit the image of Dong Hua at all >.< He looks so old and his acting needs much improving… And why is there Feng Jiu and Dong Hua in Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms…

    • 23 thoughts on “Posters for Supporting Cast of drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

It’s been a while since I read the book but I think there are brief appearances from Feng Jiu and Dong Hua? Unless they’re planning to incorporate their story into this drama…

      • 23 thoughts on “Posters for Supporting Cast of drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Been a really long time since I last read that book so my memory of them appearing is like foggy…Thanks!! 🙂 But from the looks of it I don’t think they will just be cameo characters in the drama… *sigh*

    • 23 thoughts on “Posters for Supporting Cast of drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms

Yeah if you check out the shushengbar comments on the first pillow book, there are mentions of Dong Hua and Feng Jiu in Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms. They’re secondary characters at best though, only slightly more prominent than cameos. Personally I like Feng Jiu more than Bai Qian, but I still like Bai Qian, so whatever. Lol if you couldn’t tell from above, I also like Dong Hua more than Ye Hua, but Ye Hua and Bai Qian’s story is sweet so still pretty awesome.

I really hope they don’t combine the two stories, that would be really messy. The two stories are so different and they each deserve their own spotlight, so if they’re combines I’m going to be very upset.

What do you think?
