Sandra Ma and Zhou Dong Yu clash in Qi Yue and An Sheng

A new movie just started production a few days ago! I’m very interested in this film because I adore the two leading ladies and two, they will be reversing their roles. Sandra Ma who got noticed for being the rebellious bar girl in The Left Ear, will be playing a quiet, well-mannered, and law-abiding citizen (Qi Yue) while Zhou Dong Yu, known for her petite and soft features, will be taking on the role of an uninhibited, unrestrained rule breaker (An Sheng). I hope this setup works for them and not against the two. Qi Yue and An Sheng (七月与安生) is a youth novel written by An Ni Bao Bei. I also love that the title is about them, even if they are destined to fall in love with the same boy (KRAPPPP KRAPPP!). The two characters meet when they are thirteen and experience all the highs and lows of adolescence and adulthood before embracing the value of life, love, and friendship.

The supporting male lead is Toby Li Cheng Bin. A new face. He was in Joe Cheng and Wang Li Kun’s The Beloved.

Here he is with Joe Cheng. Not many actors can measure up to Joe in terms of height. What a handsome new hunk!

Lol the first pic of the male lead looks SO MUCH like Bosco! I saw the pic and was excited and then realized nope not him. Lol at least the dude looks good. 🙂

Yayay for Zhou Dong Yu! Didn’t watch either Left Ear or LMIYD, but I hear from Shimo that Sandra isn’t exactly up to par in LMIYD. She’s beautiful though. Plus Zhou Dong Yu’s an acting bombshell, so I’d pull through the drama for her, especially since her character is so different this time. 🙂

Are you watching Bosco’s drama with Tang Yan Juli? That one about Breadfruit tree that was sidelined for two years? I saw a hot kissing scene between the two. Lol.

It’s only a film so you have to pull through! =D

Nah. I tried watching ep 1…and literally the first scene is one with Tang Yan and I couldn’t last through her 10 min monologue. I’m really sorry. I like Bosco, but I really find Tang Yan’s acting to be really painful sometimes. Especially when the drama hasn’t given you any back story and you only have Tang Yan’s character acting kind of arrogant and self-righteous and all-in-all she comes off as a jerk. A bad-at-acting-with-zero-genuine-emotion jerk. I’m sure there’s some sort of sob story between the two that will make the audience feel bad for and empathize with Tang Yan, but to have her spill some self-righteous arrogant crap in the first ep without explaining anything first just doesn’t make for a good impression. Anyways. Like what happened to Tang Yan?! I used to love her…well kind of. And then I guess it’s cuz she’s never been particularly good, and recently she’s just been everywhere that I can’t even force myself to try to like her stuff anymore. I’m only interest in Wei Young cuz the plot seems interesting and I’m a masochistic sucker for period dramas with capable ladies.

I watched the Left Ear and the first 7 or 8 episodes of LMIYD. Sandra was excellent on the Left Ear. Despite its commercial success, the movie didn’t really impress critics in general, but her performance was praised. She also got a Golden Horse nomination for the Left Ear. On the other hand, her Jian Yao really bored me and I couldn’t care less about her. So I conclude that it’s the less-than-stellar writing. Therefore I’m quite hesitant about this movie, because her character sounds like Jian Yao, and TBH I’m still quite traumatized by it LOL.

LOL I had a quick look at Left Ear and TBH I agree with critics. I don’t get why this movie made so much money cuz the plot was so stupid (no offense to anyone who liked the movie) … or maybe Left Ear just isn’t my type of movie…

Sandra is a good-looking lass and I have nothing against her personally (she seems like a nice person) but her Jianyao in LMIYD is beyond horrible. It’s gotten to the point where the only thing I have to look forward to is Zhang Luyi’s creepy psychopath terrorizing everyone while being a magnificent bastard LOL 🙂 Zhang Luyi is a great actor though, to be able to act out a terrible script with awesomeness LOL
