Dang, the videos above are not available in my country :((. Off to get available versions!

  2. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

Lol just started ep 1, and Lord Gu’s actor is really hilarious. He’s perfect as the sleazy but harmless puppy Dao Zhi in Legend of Qin (so called legendary thief, part of the Mohists sect)

  3. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

Lol, and I just realized the weird dude in the trailer whose character I could never put a name on…was actually a male Da Si Ming. Haha. Strange. It’s kind of funny cuz in the series, the Ying Yang Sect’s headquarters is super luxurious and mysterious and huge, but in the drama, they’re like stuck in a tiny underground room that looks like it’s beneath someone’s backyard-unkept pond. Lol I guess they don’t have the funding to try recreating that. This is stuck somewhere between acceptable, entertaining, and plain hilarious. BUT I have to say the drama explains A LOT of plot lines that the animated series left mysterious. Since it has a total of 7 season, I guess that didn’t want to unveil all the secrets too soon. But the drama revealed everything in ep 1. It kind of shows part of Ge Nie’s time as Ying Zheng top-dog, and explains Tian Ming’s past. Tian Ming’s past has been secret for like 3 seasons and left unexplained, and the drama spills the beans within the first 10 minutes. Lol so gratifying. *spoiler* in the series, they show Tian Ming having flashbacks of having lived in the palace, and his jade half-pendant, since his past is sealed in a curse by Yue Shen from the Ying Yang clan. And the drama immediately explains that a concubine had an affiar with Jing Ke, so Tian Ming actually lived as a prince for a while before Jing Ke assassination and being carted off in secret.

  4. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

Oh and apparently the water-lady in the trailer whose task is to protect Tian Ming is actually Shao Si Ming! I guessed as much in the trailer, but SSM is supposed to be a plant/life element as the Yang to DSM’s death element (the Yin). I guess in the drama it’s not like that? Haha so DSM and SSM are now lovers instead of pseudo-sister-partners. Lol

  5. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

SSM’s actress looks like a pointier Gina. She’s actually rather pretty!

  6. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

It’s wierd that SSM protects Tian Ming under orders, since in the series SSM has nothing to do with Tian Ming, and even tries to kill him under orders from time to time.. But I think I’m liking the drama so far. JJF’s not that bad so far.

And sorry guys, my comments will be riddled with spoilers and I will constantly be comparing things to the animated series. Not always as a bad thing; it’s just entertaining to see the differences. Cuz so far it’s not bad per se.

  7. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

Oh and apparently SSM and Tian Ming escaped the palace together in the drama! So are they like childhood friends? It’s interesting how involved the Yin Yang peeps in TM’s life. Since in the series, all we know is Yue Shen is involved with Tian Ming’s amnesia/curse, but the others from the clan (except maybe Dong Huang Tai Yi) know nothing about the kid.

@Julianne: can you help us who never watched the anime nor read the book/manga (if any) — perhaps by providing the name of the characters, and the short description of their roles in the story?

    • 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

      I’ll give it a shot:

Ying Zheng and Zhao Gao appear first. They’re historically pretty known, the evil emperor and his evil eunuch.

Jing Ke: famous swordsman who tries to assassinate YZ, father of Tian Ming, oldest bro of the Mo Clan

Ge Nie: known as YZ’s top dog before people actually get to know him, calls Jing Ke his only friend (so there’s some unknown past between them), mentor/father-figure to Tian Ming, has a slow-going thing with DMR, is the Longitudal/Vertical sword style in the Gui Gu sect (traditionally only takes two disciples per generation, one for latitudal sword and one longitudal, in this case latitude one is Wei Zhuang…they’re supposed to duke it out and only one survives to pass on the stuff, but something happened between them and they never has the final match)

YYC (Yin Yang Clan) – (the clan’s supposed to be a split faction from the daoism clan and are really proficient in the whole 5-element 8-diagram stuff, which is why it doesn’t make sense that SSM got lost in Zhang Liang’s defense trap, plus the Confucian sect isn’t known for their skill in that area,,,so…)

Dong Huang Tai Yi: mysterious clan leader, supposed to be super powerful, doesn’t show his face, doesn’t do much of anything really except give orders, later on is unhealthily interested in Gao Yue, I suspect her mom used to be a powerful higher-up in the clan before

Yue Shen: supposed to be the right/left hand of DHTY, but apparently is now the waiting girl, super powerful – knows how to use all the elements, put the curse seal on Tian Ming that makes him go beserk when threatened and made him lose his memory of his childhood – also supposed to be related to Gao Yue or her mom somehow

Xinghun (hasn’t appeared yet, another power figure, takes the form of a creepy kid but is actually pretty old)

DSM (Da Si Ming): supposed to be female but is male, fire element, proficient in death curses, causes the death of Han Fei and Yan Dan (leader of Mo clan and also lost crown prince of Yan Kingdom) later on, frequently acts as battle partner with SSM

SSM (Shao Si Ming): very quiet and silent girl, wood/plant element (water element apparently in the drama), Not supposed to have anything to do with Tian Ming, but apparently she’s become his body-guard under orders from DHTY

Mo Clan – mohism, into the whole universal piece thing, specialized in “ji-guan”, like defense mechanisms, machinery, kind of steampunk-like (imagine like cool, mechanical weapons and traps and stuff like that)

Yan Dan: leader, secret identity the suposedly dead prince of Yan Kingdom, really good martial artist, uses the sword Mo-mei (Legend of Qin has a thing about ranked swords and stuff), dad of Gao Yue (she doesn’t know he’s still alive, then he died before she found out)

Master Ban (hasn’t appeared yet, machinery-design specialist)

Dao Zhi: famous thief, nothing he can’t steal, specialty is he’s super/lightening fast, has a thing for DMR

Duan Mu Rong (DMR): famous healer, saves Ge Nie a few times, protector of Gao Yue, supposed to spend seasons 2-4/5 in a coma (might wake up in season 5 with Chi Lian’s help) for taking a blow from white phoenix in season 2, but apparently that doesn’t happen…

Gao Jian Li: really close with Jing Ke, uses XueHan sword, a pair with Xue Nv, good swordsman (but not on Ge Nie, Wei Zhuang, Yan Dan level), plays the guzhen

Xue Nv: does like power-dances, lol like she dances and her kungfu is related to her dances…it’s complicated, sad past (we don’t know what exactly happened), makes fun of Tian Ming frequently, together with Gao Jian Li

Da TieChui: hasn’t appeared yet, huge muscular dude, used to be a general in Yan army, specialty a lightening hammer, kind of like human Chinese Thor

Pao Ding: appears later, butcher, provides secret house when the mainquarters are destroyed and attacked by Wei Zhuang, powerful knife skills, first one to actually successful pass on Kungfu to Tian Ming (he’s a tough one to teach, lol)

There’s others but I’m too lazy..

Zhang Liang (confucian clan, youngest of the three heads) – super smart, from the same country (Han country) as Wei Zhuang, they know each other, does Tian Ming 7 favors later on, secretly an awesome swordsman

Yan Lu (second head of confucian clan, I really like him): work from behind the scenes kind of guy, secretly has super awesome skills, owns an invisible sword, has never won a sword fight but never lost either, in season 5, he has this awesome battle with this dude even Wei Zhuang couldn’t defeat, and they ended in a draw. They say his skills are so good because he embodies the essence of a confucianist – doesn’t ever attack only defends because his point is never about winning, calm, it’s hard to explain in english

…sigh. There’s more but I’m really too lazy

  9. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

At first I thought JJF’s Tian Ming was just a little bumbling and a little slow, but LOL JJF’s spot on! His Tiang Ming is just as childishly sleazy and ignorant and playful and plain hilarious!

    *spoiler*

SSM’s busy saving Tian Ming, and he’s like so what’s your name, I’ve known you for so long but I don’t know your name. And she’s like just pretend I’m a figment of your imagination. So he’s all, if you’re imagined, does that mean I can do what ever I want and he leans over to kiss her. And lol she slaps him and he’s all, if you’re imagined, why does it hurt so much. Lol and his expression when Ge Nie threaten him to come with him is so spot on. Anyone who’s seen the series knows Tiang Ming’s signature WTF face. The bulging eyes and stuck out tongue. Haha.

  10. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

Lol I know Duan Mu Rong and Ge Nie are supposed to be a couple. But it’s so hilarious watching Michelle’s…very animated performance and try to reconcile that with DMR’s character. LOL. So she rushes up to Ge Nie and tries to kill him, only he’s defeated her easily and has her bent over backwards…Meanwhile TM tries to escape this crazy dude (in his eyes the random guy who threatened him with a sword) and Ge Nie’s like Oh shit no time for DMR and chases after him, while DMR falls flat on her back on the rocks. This is supposed to be semi-serious about her vengeance for Jing Ke, but lol the scene is just too funny to be taken seriously. I feel like I’m going to be perpetually laughing at Michelle throughout the drama. I can’t take her seriously. Her DMR is so…hyper! Like the character’s supposed to be cold and somewhat bitchy-no-nonsense, occasionally being more hesitant around Ge Nie. But Michelle’s…idk. she’s like a bunny, almost like a parody of DMR. Imagine her cutesy XLN vs the character XLN in Condor Heroes, and you’ll get what I mean. Is this going to be a Michelle trend from now on? I get she wants her own take on the character, but can’t she attempt a different acting style, or even try to stay in character for once?

  11. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

Anyways that scene’s hilarious cuz it’s like Tian Ming running away, Ge Nie chasing Tian Ming, and then DMR completely out of loop chasing after Ge Nie all “don’t run, bastard”.

  12. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

Wow Lu Yi looks really impressive as Ge Nie. Ge Nie’s kungfu looks really cool. I can deal with the flashy lights and fantasy kungfu cuz that’s kind of how it’s depicted in the series.

  13. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

I get that this drama is only a few eps compared to the 7 seasons of the series, but I feel like Tian Ming and Ge Nie’s relationship is a little rushed. I can overlook it for now, but I hope they develop it a little more later on. Ge Nie’s supposed to be Tian Ming’s mentor, father-figure, inspiration, conscience, confidant, a friend, all of that.
    *spoiler*
That’s what makes Yue Shen’s prophecy (in Season 2 i think) about Tian Ming killing Ge Nie in the future so scary and foreboding.

  14. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

I don’t really like Tian Ming’s parent-background reveal here. In the series, Tian Ming knows he’s adopted, and he’s been living in the streets, and thinks his dad’s still out there somewhere. But here, they make it so that TM thinks he’s actually the kid of his adopted family, and he doesn’t even carry around his half-pendant with him. It’s just adding unnecessary drama.

  15. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

Baby Tian Ming’s super cute though. πŸ˜€

  16. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

I’m liking this so far, but it’s really irritating how they changed it so that TM and Ge Nie’s journey in season 1 (travelling and escaping for the Qin army) is now TM + Ge NIe + DMR. Like sigh. DMR’s strange characterization is entertaining at first, but it gets old fast. She’s really getting on my nerves. In the series, she obviously holds distaste for TM, but she’s nice enough to him in a silent sort of way, cuz he’s a kid, and he’s her pseudo-big-bro’s kid no less. She thinks he’s annoying, but in a silent dismissive, sort of deadpan “seriously?” way. But in the drama, she’s very vocal and her constant comments are really getting annoying.

  17. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

Now I’m confused…does SSM like TM?! But in the trailer it looks like SSM and DSM have a thing! this is kind of complicated. None the less, JJF’s Tian Ming’s pretty cute in a silly sort of way. Even though he’s not actually a kid in the drama, I kind of like his characterization. For once I’m liking JJF’s performance..It’s not terribly awesome or improved or anything, but for once it fits and doesn’t seem too forced.

  18. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

Lol I’m like watching this sitting across from my mom, and I’m constantly struggling not to laugh. Seriously though, Michelle, stop making your character such a parody. It’s disrespectful to the series. πŸ™

  19. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

…Sorry, but Shao Yu’s kind of annoying too. He’s a lot more…judgemental and stupid and brash than in the series. He’s supposed to be at least somewhat level-headed and reasonable and smart!

  20. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

Lol Ying Zheng’s supposed to be cool and calculating and evil. But in the drama he seems kind of like a petty old man with too much power. Such a hard time keeping a straight face…

  21. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

“Because of the gorgeous soundtrack, I’m here!” me too! Thank you Kappy! Grabbing it while waiting for subs.

  22. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

    Can’t see in my country…..hiks–

  23. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

So far it’s still pretty interesting, but the plot is getting stranger and stranger. Why is Zhang Liang appearing so soon?! He doesn’t show up in the series till like season 3 or 4.

  24. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

Not only did they change it chronologically, it’s like they just cut out random chunks of the plot. Everything feels super rushed. πŸ™

  25. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

Haha this Zhang Liang looks like a young and sorry, ugly, imposter of Zhang Liang. He’s supposed to be pretty hot, and really cool. And when he helps you, it’s more of a, *smirk* you guys owe me, I did you guys a favor with my awesome brain, type. But this dude like, haha I took care of it, don’t worry, I’m totally on your side. Sigh. Come on, Lu Yi’s present, and he’s the one known for playing an awesome (and hot) Zhang Liang.

  26. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

I’m liking the ShaoYu/ChiLian pairing less and less, mainly because I can hardly stand this version of Shao Yu. He’s supposed to be mischievous, yes, but when the time calls for it, he can be serious too. And he’s generally respectful to others as well…here he’s just plain bratty. Dao zhi (or here, he’s called Guo something) just effing saved your life and DMR healed a bunch of your people, and first you laugh at Dao Zhi cuz he’s a little not-serious and goofy, and then you scoff at DMR’s healer title/skills. What kind of attitude is that?!

  27. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

Ugh and now there’s supposed to be a ShaoYu/GaoYue one-sided love line? Seriously dude, you’re not worthy.

  28. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

πŸ™ wait. Why has Mo Family’s impressive defense traps become Zhang Liang’s work? It’s supposed to be the sweat and blood of generations of Mo leaders, and not it’s suddenly Zhang Liang’s work?! The drama is interesting, but there are a lot of small, unnecessary changes that really bother me.

  29. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

This is ridiculous, I even like DMR more than I like Shao Yu now. Why are they ruining his character like this?! I really like him in the series!

  30. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

Haha looking back at ep 1, Yue Shen became a waiting girl in the Ying Yang Clan! That’s crazy! Yue Shen is one of YYC’s most powerful! She’s leader along with the pseudo-pharmicist (anyone who’s seen season 4/5 know, he’s this YYC dude who makes miracle pills..he’s a metal element I think) under Dong Huang Tai Yi! In fact aside from him, she’s like top of the chain! And now she’s a waiting girl?!

  31. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

Lol I checked out the comments on the hunantv channel, and boy those comments are really mean. I’m irritated by the drama and totally agree with some of their criticisms, but tbh, they’re really mean about it. Haha totally understand the definition of anti-fans now.

  32. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

…so it turns out in the drama Yun Zhong Jun’s the one who puts the curse on Tian Ming and not Yue Shen. And DHTY indeed ordered it…apparently because he wants to become ruler?!

  33. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

WHAT?! In the series, it’s Li Si on Ying Zheng’s behalf who hires the Quicksand to find Tian Ming, now it’s DSM from the YYC?!

  34. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

And why is DSM so ridiculously powerful? White phoenix at least should be able to defeat him/her easily. WP is reserved, but he’s almost on par with Wei Zhuang! DSM isn’t supposed to be that strong; in season 4/5 she gets defeated by Tian Ming a few times even. She only kills Yan Dan because she underhandedly set a curse on him by taking the face/form of a Mo sect follower.

  35. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

And the drama makes Wei Zhuang look petty and cheap! He doesn’t agree to find Tian Ming for money! He does it cuz Ge Nie’s with Tian Ming and he wants to defeat Ge Nie.

  36. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

Regardless of all the awful plot changes and odd-acting, JJF’s really surprisingly good. I really like his Tian Ming πŸ˜€

  37. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

DMR is really really ridiculous. Why are they butchering her character like this!!!!!

  38. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

Shao Yu’s super super mean…In the series he teases Tian Ming, but he acts like a big bro, and even when people are making fun of him, sticks up for him, but here he’s just plain mean. I don’t know if I’ll be able to finish this. I might as well wait for the weekly episode of season 5 instead.

  39. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

Actually Gao Yue’s pretty mean to Tian Ming too…

  40. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

Actually…Ge Nie’s also a lot meaner too..Like he’s usually gruff and terse, but he generally tries to teach Tian Ming ho to be a good person and stuff, here it’s just one phrase, you’re bothersome.

  41. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

Finally got around to watching the latest two eps of this (from Tuesday) and it’s…idk. We don’t know much of Ge Nie and Wei Zhuang past from the series, but I’m pretty sure they changed it for the drama. Maybe to not give away spoiler…? Idk, but it kind of comes out of nowhere and I’m like…what?

    *spoiler*
So earlier in the cbox I mentioned Wei Zhuang saving Ge Nie’s life…now I think that’s just a drama thing and not an actual plotline in the series. Basically in the drama, Ge Nie’s the son of this chief dude of a Qi Sha sect (which does exist in the series…it was mentioned briefly in Wei Zhuang and Chi Lian’s special episode I think, maybe also at the end of Bai Feng’s special ep, but it’s a mystery/secret so far, plus Wei Zhuang doesn’t join in until sometime between his last meeting with Chi Lian as a teen and his next meeting as a white-haired angsty muscle-man). Anyways, so Ge Nie’s the son of the leader, and he’s being trained as next leader and gets taught skills from Ghost Valley sect leader, and Wei Zhuang’s just some kid Ge Nie’s dad adopted. Then apparently WZ’s forced to be initiated into a section of the sect that does the dirty work for the leader (basically for Ge Nie) and has to “die” metaphorically and stripped of identity, while Ge Nie’s left with a leadership heritage. (btw they made the Gui Gu sect kung fu a little different too, and the sect rules are different..it bothers me) So WZ’s left with a crappy life, Ge Nie thinks WZ’s dead, …it’s convoluted and a little strange.

In the series, we get flashbacks of WZ intorduced by the GGS leader (Gui Gu Sect) as a new disciple, so they’re both disciples, and WZ doesn’t associate with the Qi Sha Sect until after that and before things go to shit between them. Plus the GGS rules were different. In the series, each generation only takes 2 disciples, 1 gets taught the longitudal style of swordplay and one the latitudal, and they duke it out to become next generational leader and the survivor is taught the 100 step flying sword thing (which is why their past is such a mystery cuz that didn’t happen, Ge Nie is officially taught the secret kungfu anyways, Wei Zhuang later learns it, and the teacher’s dead). In the drama, they make it so the GG Kungfu is all the work of this one dude literally translated as “GG old dude” and he doesn’t take disciples, but teaches Ge Nie both styles AND the secret kungfu, and then after GN’s dad dies, takes pity on him and takes him as disciple. And WZ doesn’t know this kungfu, so WZ’s isn’t a GG disciple at all. That’s so effed up. So wierd. I can’t deal. 1 days and half after those two eps are broadcasted and I can’t make my way through the first 24 minutes of the first ep. sucks.

  42. 59 thoughts on “Cdrama: The Legend of Qin Episodes

I tried not to, but I had SUCH. HIGH. HOPES. for this drama! And things are just getting weirder, and weirder, and weirder. Still going to try sticking through if only cuz sometimes it’s mildly entertaining, and JJF’s Tian Ming is unusually good, and well, I’m a loyal fan. But. BUT. Ugh. I get that they want to do their own take and change stuff, I’m not expecting them to stay strictly loyal to the series, but. They’re changing SO. MUCH. Basically almost everything, and a lot of the changes are really not necessary. The changes they made about Wei Zhuang and Ge Nie are so fundamental I feel like they’re just creating new characters. The way they set up their (completely different) backstories, they’re making WZ out to be this angsty, misunderstood pitiable dude who’s just bitter because of a crappy life. C’mon! WZ is badass because he genuinely has a different life philosophy than Ge Nie. He believes in chaos being the natural state of life. He’s realistic and fatalistic and pessimistic not because he’s wounded by his bitter life, he’s just developed his own life-philosophies. As a kid, in his earliest flashbacks, WZ is introduced as ambitious. He joined the GGS because he believes in power! He wants to hve the power to change the fate of the countries. That’s what he believes; he’s not some poor, sad, lost, secretly-nice dude who craves love and pity!

And Ge NIe! I’m more upset about how they messed up Wei Zhuang, cuz he’s just too awesome to be ruined like that, but Ge Nie’s changes bother me too! The main contempt for Ge Nie that Wei Zhuang had was because they’re so fundamentally different! WZ scorns GN for serving Ying Zheng. He despises GN’s humanitarian, compassionate nature. Instead WZ just hates that GN had a better life. I just…like what? GN’s supposed to be wise, calm, philosophically-centered. In the drama though, GN’s like some cold, aloof, priviledged child. He saves Tian Ming’s life, but otherwise dismisses him. He’s tightlipped to an insane degree. He’s seems perpetually bored or whiny. And his interactions with DMR (Michelle). Ugh he’s like a child. They’re like children pulling each others pigtails in a not-cute way! They’re romance lacks the dignity and respect and quiet understanding GN and DMR are supposed to have.

It’s not that I hate the changes in the plot. I hate how those plot changes change the essence of these characters so much. They’re changing the nature of their personalities, their beliefs, their relationships with other characters! They’re just creating new characters who fulfill roughly the same plotline. The point of an adaptation is to change whatever you need to plot-wise, interpretation wise, but to follow the essence of the story, the feel. This is just. I don’t know. It feels rushed, rough, simplified, just such a disappointment on so many levels.

Don’t worry, you’re not alone in your disappointment. This drama adaptation is a ratings and review flop from general audience, game/novel/animation fans, and critics alike. Tangren used to make good dramas, but for the past few years their dramas have really been dropping in quality. Wu Xin is decent but not great (and apparently they bombed on the ending), but this Qin adaptation is really bad…

Remember how utterly amazing TangRen’s Chinese Paladin 1 was? Sigh. It was so touching and well done. tbh even though a lot of people loved CP3, I personally always liked CP1 better than 3.

Yeah, Tangren used to make good dramas and I really liked their Chinese Paladin 1 and 3, but ever since Bubu Jingxin (which was a decent production even though the plot was shit), it’s all gone downhill from there…

Wu Xin was a decent effort but not on par with the Chinese Paladin series.

Chinese Paladin 5 looks meh (not great), this Legend of Qin is a mess (like, they don’t even try!), and I’m a bit iffy on their Chinese Paladin movie adaptation too. The movie has Hu Ge but no Liu Yifei, and even though they’ve already started filming, there’s still no word on who will take Liu Yifei’s place.

I just marathoned the 6 episodes that have come out (despite the lack of subs), and am Iiking what I see. I never watched the animated series, so I really don’t have anything to compare with or to expect. But I think the production is very good (like WuXin, with nice lighting and cinematography), the fighting choreography is surprisingly good too, very decent CGI, and likeable cast with generally refined acting. Pace is good too (though I don’t understand the conversation at al LOL). I must say Ian Wu should be the standard for acting exaggerating without being annoying (which he does here too). Lu Yi is hot.

Another positive vote for the drama. Also haven’t seen the animation. I like the cast and the characters are likable. But I do have problems with the pacing. Waaay, way too fast for everything. Some relationships need time to “breathe” and develop naturally. I know that current tv schedules can’t allow that but it would have been nice. πŸ™‚
By the above i mean: if you don’t have any preexisting knowledge about the story, the drama adaptation is a nice distraction. πŸ™‚
Also, Lu Yi is indeed veeery hot. <3 Can't wait for his rookie agent drama with ZLY.

From Julianne’s comments, I think familiarity with the anime is an handicap when watching this drama. I’m glad that I was able to enjoy the show without prejudice. I like most of the characterization, from TM’s self-inflated ego to SY’s military brat arrogance, or DMR’s sadistic to DGZ’s masochistic tendency. I even managed to like GY’s goody two shoes. I haven’t made up my mind on GN yet since the guy spent most part of the 8 episodes unconscious or gravely sick. I’m looking forward to see how TM handle his power-less situation.

I agree with you. Since I’m new in C-drama, coming from k-drama, I’m tired from the costant comparison of a drama with an anime or, even worse, a manga. An anime aims an far smaller audience than a drama and different age groups. It’s admirable that the Chinese understand the difference between an anime or a manga or a web-novel and live action “real” television. At least so far… Fingers crossed…

The fighting scenes are really one of the drama’s strong points. I still can’t get over the fighting scene between Ge Nie and Wei Zheng at ep 12, and keep rewatching just that part, LOL. It’s beautifully choreographed! <3

I like it so far, ( ep 19 ), haven’t seen the animated , that sounds like a plus , but I will say that I was confused as to who was who for a few episodes, they do fill it in in later episodes. Over all there are so many love lines going on, no shortage there. I like the sound track.

Certain favorite characters of mine are killed off, so I am not as attached to the drama as rabidly as I was in the beginning. I wasn’t too attached to the animation series to where I was comparing the drama to it. Legend of Qin started on the all the right notes for me; it hit the nostalgia of the olden days of my addiction to wuxia and all the compelling characteristics of such a genre of film. Yu Li is seriously on point hotness as Ne Gie. Jian lian was also on point casting for me. Oh they are so good together.

Like I said earlier, I’m very happy with the ending of the drama. The last 10 episodes or so are intense and some of them are literally blood bath. The tension culminated perfectly with [SPOILER] Shao Yu’s beautiful suicide, and I love Qin Junjie’s portrayal: quiet, determined, desperate.

Wu Lei also impresses me very much with his brief but strong performance in his final scenes, particularly as a mentally disturbed young prince (that’s as much as I can say LOL). The kiddo is greatly talented. In general, the young actors (Wu Lei, Gina, Qin Junjie) are the highlights for me, although the senior ones (with the exception of Michelle Chen who keeps being annoying) are pretty competent too. My favorite character is Wei Zhuang, and I’m glad that the drama gives him a happy ending :))

Here’s the sight of the pretty 7 Murder Sect men, side by side, enjoying each other’s company. They’re my real OTP, LOL. (I hope the picture will show!)

Ha! Just as I thought… the picture doesn’t show! Let me try once again:

OH NO. My eyes wandered past the spoilers warning. =( That’s so sad. But that is one lovely picture of the two beautiful swordsmen.

But yes Lenje, as frea suggested, don’t hit yourself over the coding as I don’t know why it wouldn’t work. I always fix the coding of the picture when I see one. Lol.

LOL, I can see that you have helped me with the picture. Thank you, Kappy darling!! <3 <3 <3
