Oooo!! I’m pretty pumped for this rumored project! Another drama adaptation in the works! This time it’s 11 Chu Te Gong Huang Fei written by Xiao Xiang Dong Er. The drama script was reportedly done this past March (after 4 years of editing) and the tentatively drama title is called The Legend of Chu Qiao. I think it’s pretty much a done deal, even the author confirmed that her name is indeed in the running. For those who don’t know, the author was one of the many who spoke up against antis for Zhao Li Ying when The Jourey of Flower first released. Something along the lines of a successful actress who might slaughter all rising stars and that gossips are nothing but thoughtless entertainment for the bore. The production company, Ci Jia Entertainment (Agent X), is the sister company to the production team behind The Journey of Flower. Chances are high and is it okay for me to wish they REUSE some of the actors? *claps hands together* Production wants to start rolling at the end of this year or early next year (ahum, when Li Ying is free from Rouge with Lu Yi? What a coincidence…)
According to baidu, I translated the synopsis to the best of my ability (DO NOT TAKE OUT of AVV, I’M NOT THAT PROUD OF MY SKILLS YET): The story takes place during the chaotic times of Western Wei, where innocent citizens are often kidnapped and turned into slaves. Slave girl, Chu Qiao (Zhao Li Ying) is thrown into a forest and becomes the next hunting target for the rich lords. She’s saved by the Prince of Northern Wei, Yan Xun (male lead, she loves him first). Afterwards, she’s sold into the house of Zhuge and witnesses the deaths of her siblings. Not accepting her fate, Chu Qiao escapes the dungeon with her younger sister and catch the attention of Zhuge Yue (also male lead but she loves him last). He takes care of her and trains her in various things while she develops a deep friendship with Yan Xun over the years. RUH ROH. Double male leads. During the battle with Western Wei, Yan Xun loses his whole family and Chu Qiao is willing to die to save him and sends him back to his court. However, after that incident, Yan Xun grows ambitious and cruel to avenge for the things and people he lost. Disappointed with the man she once loved, Chu Qiao works with Zhuge Yue to bring him down and end slavery, becoming a successful military strategist (or is it female general?) in the people’s hearts.
The description of the male leads are funny:
– Yan Xun – warm outside, cold inside
– Zhuge Yue – cold outside, warm inside
I scanned through the book synopsis and it looks like our smart female lead is loved by many men for her courage and intelligence. Now drama, don’t disappoint me by watering down that light bulb okay? I have enough of Hua Qian Gu’s density. Lol.
The drama adaptation plans to have 45 episodes. I’ll take a deeper look into the novel and pry out more information. But this project sounds very good right now. =)

Kappy, the second male lead is Zhuge Yue. Yuwen is a very nice surname though. 🙂
I’m secretly hoping for a reunion between Zhao Liying and Miracle Qiji for this. No idea why but it just came up hehe.

I haven’t read the novel yet. There’s about 191 chapters. It’s on my list now, hehe. It’s not the longest novel I’ve ever read so I should be able to get through it if it’s good writing.
From what I’ve gathered though, this was originally a time travel novel so they will probably change the premise.

I like the story…but I don’t LOVE the fact that it would be another historical drama and another idol vehicle…I was hoping that with Interns and Rouge, she was starting to move towards non-idol projects…

she’s in demand and most authors would want big stars to draw more attention, plus, she’s young too.
what’s not an idol project these days? why is it idol projects when these actors are actors themselves and not idol singers like korean stars? plus, the subject of this drama seems more serious and grounded, so i wouldn’t call it an idol drama just yet.

In terms of young starlets, I think Tong Liya and Jiang Xin have done a pretty good job of moving away from idol series towards serious series. I agree that doing an idol project here and there is fine, but I want ZLY to be getting more serious awards (like Hundred Flowers or Golden Rooster), or the Best Actress in Golden Eagle instead of the “Favorite Actress” or other “People’s Choice”-y ones.
I consider them “idol” projects where there are no “serious” actors/actresses involved except for young starlets, and where there is an inordinate amount of romance. My own definition leaves me in somewhat of a bind, because I would love to actually WATCH more of ZLY in a romance idol vehicle, but for her OWN sake, I hope that you avoids those!

I like the story! It’s about time we have another female general on screen — and I hope they will show how she is as the general or the military strategist. I want to see her intelligence, and not just a love interest. But I have never heard about the novel before, so I don’t know how she is written there. Regardless, we can always hope for a good and creative script *amen, amen*.
BTW, to be honest, I’m tired of the “cold outside, warm inside” male characters.

The female actor is Zhao li ying is gonna be wonderful drama. And for male characters I wish to see Li yi feng and Wallace huo or Eddie peng to play with her in this drama. This 3 have the quality with face and acting for this drama..

Hope with Zhao Li Ying’s newer upcoming dramas she can mature in terms of her roles. I absolutely adore her and I think her expressions are so cute and spot on, but I’ve been dying to see her play a more complex character. I thought Hua Qian Gu would be it, but no…not happening. Maybe starting from Zu Mountain, she’ll have a greater variety of roles. Looking forward to her future dramas!
