I was ready to love this drama until I was let down by its subpar 1-minute teaser, featuring numerous fighting scenes. I want to send it right back to the editing team and tell them, “You are paid to do this, do it right!” Hence why I think productions should hire FANS to do their posters and trailers because they do it right and they do it better. The silly PAH sound effect they added for each kick and punch is silly. Anyway, they have another month to film and give me a better trailer. Taekwondo Girl is a drama adaptation of the novel Xuan Feng Shao Nv written by Ming Xiao Xi, and another one of those live-shooting projects HunanTV is adopting, just like how Korea sweetly treats its actors. So many other things to mimic, and yet they pick the worst thing to copy!

The hard-working heroine is played Hu Bing Qing (Imperial Doctress, The Legend of Qin). Many look upon her to dominate the Taekwondo world. Her journey to the top is aided by three distinct guys. The pressure is on for the new actress because they are comparing her to iconic “weed” characters below. I know you know them! 😛
First guy is her senior brother at the academy played by Yang Yang (The Four, The Lost Tomb). Cold on the outside but warm on the inside. He sees the natural talent in our heroine and trains her to become the best.
No more long bangs to up cover his handsome face. =)
Aww Yang Yang, you’re gonna be that type of gentle guy huh? Stitch up her ripped clothes? =D
Second guy and also the guy with the most interesting background is portrayed by Chen Xiang (Romance of the Condor Heroes). He falls in love with the heroine not knowing that she attends the academy he hates the most; he blames them for his mother’s comatose condition.
Following her to school in his fancy blue car. ^^
This scene reminds me of Meteor Garden. Shan Cai and pig head Dao Ming Si. Lol! I don’t know how they can hear each other!
Girl, better be careful where that foot land! Miss V wouldn’t like it if you hurt little Xiang Xiang! XD
Third and final guy is played by new face, Bai Jing Ting. He was a star in the Taekwondo world before he decides to bow out, seeing the harm in relentless pursuit of the best. Our heroine looks up to him and sees him as a mentor.
Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who’s the prettiest of them all?
I’m sure he’s thinking, “How did she get up there…elegantly?” =D
Zhao Yuan Yuan (Duke of Mount Deer 2014, Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils 2013) as Chen Xiang’s sister. The girl who goes a little crazy seeing her crush pays attention to the heroine.
Leo Wu Lei as Yang Yang’s best friend. He is paired up with Seven Tan.
Growing up so fast Leo! Look at the charming smile.
Seven Tan. She is so kute!
Cast during Interview.
These two are gonna be cute cute!!
Trailer:
- Yang Yang’s kicking stance cracks the heck out of me. He’s a dancer and it shows in his elegant, straight kicks. LOL.
- The lack of background music makes the teaser unimpressive and choppy. Spend more time editing it, production team!
- Script modified by Zhu Ming and directed by Cheng Zhi Chao (Legend of Fragrance, Beauties of the Emperor), Taekwondo Girl has a broadcast date on June 28th with 28 episodes.

CHEN XIANGGGGGGG~~~~~~ how can the lead kick such a beautiful person???? I volunteer to be her nemesis just for that!
Finally, we get to see stills of Yang Yang without his hair covering most of her face! Definitely good looking, but I still like my Chen Xiang better 8′)
Love all the fabulous and bright stills! (but you know I’m just staring at Chen Xiang hahaha)

He does have the most flamboyant clothes and interesting background. Yang Yang needs to fight harder to distract you. Or maybe little Leo will. =D

ROFLMAO the fights had me laughing my ass off with the juvenile sound effects. The close up slow-mo of that random dude getting his face kicked was so slapstick like WTF. But Yang Yang looks really cool and I like the jump kicks he did especially that last one with the spinning legs. 🙂
Isn’t it nice to properly see his handsome face without half of it being covered by heavy bangs?

They said they will release a more “polished trailer” on HGQ’s premiere day. Lol.
He is one handsome kid, no doubt! 😉

LOL what does this Taekwondo drama have to do with HQG??? They’re totally unrelated!
I think Yang Yang has a lot of potential as a young actor – he’s good-looking and great to watch onscreen, and his athleticism/dance skills will enable him to play physically demanding roles too.

One thing in common – hunan airs both so it’s promotion for their next drama. With this kind of trailer and they are thinking so far ahead. Lols.
Potential big star, yes he is!

Hey, Yang Yang and Zhao Yuan Yuan look good together in the cast interview! I hope they will be paired up in another movie/drama some day.

Zhao Yuan Yuan looks great and has more screen presence than Hu Bing Qing so far for me. Let’s see how they fare in motion!

I think it’s the eyes/stare. Both girls have a pic where they’re in fighting stance and Zhao Yuan Yuan has such a focused, competitive, glare, whereas in Hu Bing Qing’s pic, her stare is sort of flat, like she’s bored or staring off into space. Also in Zhao Yuan Yuan’s pics she has a laughing/smiling one, etc, she has a variety of emotions. For HBQ, I’m too lazy to scroll back up to verify, but the impression I get is that she doesn’t have much facial expression in most of her stills. She just looks kind of flat and bored. Like you said, hopefully she’s better in motion, because her stills and trailer for Qin’s Moon were a lot better (it’s the same girl right?).

It must be boring having 3 guys liking/supporting her… Lol!
Yes, she is the same girl.

Lol the trailer, I see what you mean. tbh, it’s not just the lack of background music. It’s the fact that sometimes they cut out background noise completely, so all you hear is silence and the fake pwah pwah kicking sounds…which is just uber unnatural. At least if you don’t include music, leave the ambient noise. Or at least keep it consistent: sometimes they cut out the noise, sometimes they don’t. And I really do get what you mean about the kicking sound effects…it’s so…fake. Honestly it reminds me of the kung fu sound effect for Laughing in the Wind (Xiao Ao Jiang Hu) 2001 version, and that was both wuxia and made in 2001. Editing crew – what do you have to say for yourself.

Despite the unnaturalness…I am still tempted to watch it, because of Chen Xian and taekwondo~~ I want to see how he is different from Romance of the Condor Heroes, in a modern style. When does this start airing?
