Three Body, is a film adaptation of the sci-fi novel, The Three-Body Problem, written by Chinese writer Liu Cixin. Set in the tumultuous years of the Cultural Revolution, the premise is about alien invasion and the government and scientists’ responses to this intrusion of their homeland by dividing into different factions. The humans are not all that innocent to begin with because a signal launched into outer space by a military project is captured by a group of desperate aliens on the verge of extinction. It gives them hope and the idea that coming down to Earth might save them. I’m planning on reading the translated English novel because I love sci-fi novels and the reviews sound positive! The star-studded film held a press conference today with its cast. Leading the pack is William Feng (King of Lan Ling) and Zhang Jing Chu (I Am Somebody, Honeymoon Hotel).

Only stills of the female lead, Zhang Jing Chu, are released as of now. Love the subdued colors. She plays Ye Wen Jie, an astrophysicist whose father was beaten to death by the Red Guards for his belief in science and she’s sent to work in a camp near an ancient forest, where she’s asked to join a government project about satellites.

Male lead William Feng Shao Feng as Wang Miao, a nanotech scientist in the present time whose world is turned upside down when an onslaught of Chinese scientists begin to take their lives, claiming that physics has never existed. To uncover the truth, he infiltrates a scientists club by joining a virtual reality game named Three Body. This leads to many chilling secrets…
Tang Yan and Du Chun are a couple in here. She’s a physicist and he’s a math genius.

Three Body is directed by Zhang Fan Fan (Lost In Panic Room, Lost In Panic Cruise) and plans to premiere in summer 2016. Filming started last month 3.18.15.

My friend read the book recently and she said itbwas good. Thebfemale character had a good story arc, notbso much the male lead. They were from different time periods and at one point, the parallels are drawn magnificently she said.

LOL in other news, 鬼吹灯 is about to start an 8-season series with 2 movies also in the works to compete with Lost Tomb … it’s the year of tomb raiding, apparently…

They are following the footsteps of American TV shows. The funny thing is there’s no guaranteed success yet and they are huffing for more than 2 seasons… *gulp*

IKR? TBH I don’t like the way American series drag on for years – it’s why I don’t watch them, because after a while I just lose interest in waiting years for a series to finish LOL
And as you said, they don’t even know how successful it’ll turn out and they’re already planning for many seasons… Well, the novels for Lost Tomb and 鬼吹灯 are quite famous and apparently very good. I haven’t read 鬼吹灯 but I’ve read a little bit of Lost Tomb and it’s pretty damn good. I dunno how the Lost Tomb series will turn out but the main character is hilarious and the novels are so entertaining because they’re written from his point of view. Especially when he and the explosive expert guy are swearing at each other and stuff while running away from whatever’s trying to kill them LOL

American Tv shows kill me. There are good ones but pray that you find them when they are completed. Now, I’m stuck pining and waiting for The Flash and The Originals for Xseasons. =/
