Feng Shao Feng, Shawn Dou bond with wolves in Wolf Totem

Feng Shao Feng and Shawn Dou‘s upcoming movie, Wolf Totem, has a release date in February 4th (France) / 9th (China), 2015! It is based on a semi-biography of Lu Jia Min (pen name, Jiang Rong) and is directed by a French director, Jean-Jacques Annaud (Seven Years in Tibet). In the movie, Feng plays a Beijing student sent to the beautiful grassland of inner Mongolia to work as a herdsman. It is there that he finds himself immersed in the culture and fascinated by the wolves. After overcoming many difficulties working in low temperatures, extreme weather conditions, and various safety training with real wolves, the actors and production crew are excited to see their hard work hit theaters next month.

Looks great, Kappy. It’s worthy of a few film awards by the looks of it. Reminds me of a movie called The Grey somewhat. I was giggling when I saw the CG wolves in the trailer and mv.

Hey, THAT’S ME! I can put my face in all those FSF pics playing w/ baby K9s. I’ve already trained my 36-days old pups to potty on the pad not on their bed pillow and respond when I call their names. Meanwhile, training my more aggressive Wangzi to play dead and howl like a wolf seems to take forever, yet he can surely bark a storm when seeing a mailman… already?.. so surprised… what is it with dogs and uniforms?? It is true what they say about 4-eyed dogs… highly intelligent ones. The other pup, Whiskey, is more passive and less a troublemaker like his daddy.

I feel sorry for that adolescent skinny wolf; looks like his pack leaves only scrappings for him. Who here finds those taxidermied wolves a bit disturbing to look at in the press con pic?

You’re such a trooper training all those dogs and puppies Keane! I only have one dachshund mix and the only tricks I managed to teach her in the last four years were sit and paw. Lol. Yea, she doesn’t like uniforms too. The mailman actually left a note when we first got her… Sigh~

These wolves are on the skinny side and their legs have no fur which make them look less majestic and fearless. I feel bad looking at them.

Those two tricks are wonderful accomplishments for Mimi. What are you sayin’?

Gotta train them at an early age, or else I wouldn’t be able to keep them if they were wild. LOL! Oh man, I use to have those delivery interruption notices too. We even were forced to get a PO Box ’cause I use to own a big black german sheperd; he stood up 6’+ tall when he stands upright. I named him (Black) Bear. He kept jumping over our 12′ walls scaring the mailman, so I had to leave him at our company grounds, until some asshole fed him steak busting our gates to steal wooden pallets and my dog too. Bear was a beautiful beast!

Yeah, I feel bad too. I sorta believe some of them aren’t full bread wolves. Also, take into account of niche adaptation too, their trainer doesn’t look like he trains and lives with them in extreme weather conditions so they have short coats instead of long flowy fur. A few of them look like they are half breads too, mixed coyote with their pointier snout instead of boxy like the pup in the movie.

I’m just jealous that my friend has her dog for a shorter amount of time and yet that little pea can do so many tricks, among them, playing dead when she says, “Bang!” So freakin’ cute!

Poor Bear. We used to have one too until he ran away after some kids opened the gate and never returned.

They could be mixed, I don’t know much about dogs to identify the differences. ;D
