The Journey of Flower’s fan-made mv slays all promotional works

YES! YES! BABY! YES! This is what I have been waiting for. If you recall, I’m rather unfriendly with this project so far but this fan-made teaser spins an epic feel to the whole project by removing the silly dubbing and substituting in an emotional song. I love it! If I were the producer, I would hire this person immediately. Check it out and see if your feeling is suddenly lifted for the production team!

This video is so much better than any of the official promo vids they’ve released!!! What a great video with a great song choice and well-chosen scenes to go with the lyrics!

The official promo vids with their horrible dubbing is ridiculous and just makes me LMAO instead of feeling anything for the drama. But this vid actually gets me back into the mood of the story, which is really what you want from a promo vid, right? To get your audience into the story?

Anyway, thanks for sharing this great vid! πŸ˜€

This is fan made??!! One would never have guessed! This is waaaayyy much better than the official MV and yes, it has managed to slightly elevate my interest for this series. However, I am not a fan of the author and know how this story will end bad… real bad. It’s one of those stories where pretty much everyone that matters dies. Since I am not up for heartache but for a feel good series, I will give this one a miss unfortunately.

But depending on which version of the novel you read, it all ends happily ever after. There’s the Taiwanese version with the happy ending and the newest mainland version with the sad ending…

In the Taiwanese version (the one I read), all the good guys who died came back to life and Hua Qiangu and Bai Zihua live happily ever after, with Dongfang and Sha Qianmo dropping in every now and messing with BZH (LOL) πŸ˜€ Even HQG’s friends all get their own happy endings and live happily ever after with their men!

    • 31 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower’s fan-made mv slays all promotional works

So it really depends on which version they adapt for the drama I guess…

  3. 31 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower’s fan-made mv slays all promotional works

    Lol that gif of dumb&dumber2!!

But I agree, this fanmade one slays everything the production has given out thus far. they should be paying fans instead!!

BTW, reading Shimokuren’s rants is like the best thing regarding Hua Qian Gu. πŸ˜€ Shes just so passionate about it. hehehehe

hahah@Aryael. Join the doomed ship. Maybe you’re waiting for Condor with Michelle then? Lol.

LOL I can’t help it! I really loved the original novel and was so excited when they announced the drama and they even cast Wallace Huo (who was the person I imagined to be playing Bai Zihua when I first heard about a drama!).

But then all the stuff that came after started looking more disappointing than promising, so…

Of course, I withhold judgment until I actually see the drama. There are many characters I like and with the cast mostly unknown actors, it’s hard to tell how it’ll go. Also, there was a whole bunch of news from way back about them changing this to a wuxia and pretty much writing a whole different story with only the same character names because of SARFT (but apparently that is not the case now)? Which is why I was so unhappy with it all. But I still wanna see what happens when it actually comes out… πŸ˜€

It looks like they are taking more liberties in keeping the storyline~~~!! But thanks to you, now I know there are two versions…any versions she might end up with pretty jiejie? *winks winks* LOL. i know, i know….impossible… i like him best. epic lines!!

        • 31 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower’s fan-made mv slays all promotional works

Hi, a fellow Jiejie fan! Sha Qianmo is my favorite character too! πŸ˜€

Unfortunately HQG doesn’t end up with Sha Jiejie – although he’s always around to watch over her in the Taiwanese version, and in the newest version he protected her soul through many years and eventually got her to reincarnate as a human again. The newest version ends just after BZH found her reincarnated self again after 200 years but because her soul was damaged, she reincarnated as mentally impaired. BZH takes care of her anyway and the novel ends there.

The Taiwanese version actually goes further. After BZH found her, he took her away and raised her, and after she grew up and not knowing anything about herself and being confused all the time because of her disability, Dongfang helped her regain all her past life memories and she finally forgave BZH and married him. But in return for regaining her memories (essentially trading mental impairment for physical impairment), she became mute and deaf and blind and after like 16 years, with all BZH, Dongfang, Sha Qianmo, and all her friends helping her, she got cured and lived happily ever after with BZH.

TBH it actually gets kinda disturbing when you think of the implications….
          Like, cradle robbing much??!

        • 31 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower’s fan-made mv slays all promotional works

LOL TBH as long as they keep Sha Qianmo epic, I’ll be happy. Cuz I absolutely LOVED him in the book! I liked many of the other guys too, but Sha Jiejie was just the most fun to read! His character is one of the best things about the book IMHO πŸ˜€

Oh and Dongfang is pretty awesome too. If manipulative scholarly characters are your thing πŸ™‚
He’s always around to help out HQG too πŸ™‚

        • 31 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower’s fan-made mv slays all promotional works

(Actually it was more like 5 years of marital bliss with BZH + a 16 year bet with BZH, Dongfang, and Sha Qianmo trying to compete for her affection LOL)

        • 31 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower’s fan-made mv slays all promotional works

HQG is indeed a god, forgiving and loving her master after all those years. I hate these two together. LOL!! Their love story is so dysfunctional and sucks the fun out of angst for me. Plus, raising her and loving her….NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! NOOOO!! So WRONG in so many levels!! going crazy here shimokuren!! whyyyyyyy whyyyyyyyyy must you put me through this drama!!

Sha jiejie for the win!! If only a handsomer actor takes the role, it’ll be over…!! but i shall wait for the drama and then judge the new actors, to be fair and nice. lols.

thanks for all the long responses and plotlines, shimokuren. love them!!

        • 31 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower’s fan-made mv slays all promotional works

          LOL you’re welcome! πŸ˜€ I can’t shut up about this book, apparently :p πŸ˜›

Yeah, HQG and BZH basically put each other through hell. Like, he sorta started it and then she retaliated LOL.

My favorite character in the whole story has to be Sha Jiejie – not only is he really fun to read, his personality is more straightforward and his antics are hilarious, and he’s always protecting HQG even though they’re technically on opposite sides. Sha Jiejie is the Demon Lord, yet he forgets all that and sacrifices everything (his beauty, his powers, even his life if need be) to protect HQG at all costs.

Dongfang started out treating HQG more like his chess piece and only after falling in love with her did he genuinely put her above his plans. That said, he sacrifices his plans and his life to protect her and that’s admirable too, especially in the 2nd edition where his spirit lingers just so he could always be around to help her.

With BZH, yes, he loves her a great deal too and he also sacrifices everything for HQG, but he always had a lot of duties to the world that he must fulfill (i.e. too much baggage) and sometimes he had to hurt HQG because of it. And the whole cradle robbing thing is a bit hard to swallow too TBH. I like how the characters get their happy endings in the 2nd edition but I understand why Guo Guo (the author) cut all that out in the 3rd edition – probably because the whole “raising her and then marrying her” thing is a bit ewww and then the “trading mental impairment for physical impairment” just becomes kinda melodramatic. Guo Guo actually said in her new edition that she changed so much stuff because when she looked back at earlier editions, she felt that they were immature and too fairytale-like, and she hoped with the newest (heavily revised) edition, it could reflect her maturity as a writer.

        • 31 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower’s fan-made mv slays all promotional works

how old is the writer shimokuren, if you know? seems like a fairly young one if she wanted to change the books to reflect her maturity. just write a different book, lol.

my sha jiejie sounds so epic. as a matter of fact, all the men sound epic except for master. i just don’t like him even if he sacrifices a lot for her as well…. LOL!!

        • 31 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower’s fan-made mv slays all promotional works

IMHO Sha Jiejie is the most awesome character in the whole book (but I may be biased because he’s my favorite LOL)

IIRC the author wrote this book when she was in university and it started out as a net novel that eventually got published and became very popular. It’s her first published novel and the one that made her famous πŸ™‚

          Publication history:
          1st edition: 2009 (mainland)
2nd edition: 2010 (Taiwan), basically the same as the 1st edition but split into 5 volumes and has extra epilogue (with the happy endings)
3rd edition: 2013 (mainland), this one was revised quite a bit, I think. It’s got some new stuff added in too…

4th edition: 2014 (mainland), super revised version with BZH extra story + bonus poster/stationery. This one is so new it was only published in July!

Good Lord, how many versions of one novel! And each has different stuff in it, especially the newest versions which are heavily revised. I reckon the drama is most likely adapting the newest versions (judging from the trailer)…

        • 31 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower’s fan-made mv slays all promotional works

TBH so many versions of the same novel are kinda confusing, especially since they change stuff in the story details. I notice that Chinese authors like to revise their novels every now and then and it makes me wonder the same thing you did: why not just write a new novel? Like, what’s with all these revisions? It’s a novel, not a textbook…!

  4. 31 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower’s fan-made mv slays all promotional works

I was sold within the first 5 seconds!!! ^_^

  5. 31 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower’s fan-made mv slays all promotional works

Definitely Frea, I look forward to Shimo’s rants too. πŸ˜‰ Plus, she gives tidbits of the story as well. hee!!

Aryael, I’m just gonna watch it because Miss Ying looks utterly cute in it. Now that Shimo reveals the two versions, maybe the killings in the promo vids have an alternate endings? What I still need is chemistry btw ZLY and WH. That’s a big determinant factor….. If only we can see this sooner….

unforgetableme, heh, what a username you have dear. ^^

    • 31 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower’s fan-made mv slays all promotional works

Yeah my biggest concern is that I still can’t see any chemistry between Wallace and ZLY, which is not good because hello, they’re supposed to be the OTP of this epic angsty love story…!

I have no idea how they’re gonna adapt the story because even the novel has 2 versions with quite a bit of story changes. The newest version published in mainland changed the story quite a bit in some parts and the ending also differs significantly. In the Taiwanese version (which is the 2nd edition, with the newest one being the 3rd), BZH was insane for like 30 years until he found HQG’s reincarnated self again (even then he was still a bit unbalanced). Heaps of stuff happened (which I commented above) and eventually most characters get their happy endings.

BUT in the 3rd edition, BZH wanders the world lost and insane for 200 years and then finds HQG’s reincarnated self. The novel just ends with BZH taking HQG away and them walking off into the sunset – one insane, and one mentally impaired. All the latter parts of 2nd edition’s ending are gone so we don’t really know if all the good guys that died get reborn or not. There’s none of those awesome appearances by Dongfang, Sha Qianmo, or even Tangbao (the worm) and Brother 11 and Shuo Feng. The 2nd edition basically had almost everybody (of the good guys) come back and everyone lives happily ever after. Like, even Yourou ends up with the reincarnated Demon God (who is now a good guy and a very disciplined monk in training LOL).

Personally, I know the 3rd edition is the more realistic version but I actually like the 2nd edition better cuz I like Sha Qianmo and Dongfang (and even all the other supporting characters like Yourou, Tangbao, etc.) and I like seeing all the good guys getting a happy ending after all their suffering… *shrug*

      • 31 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower’s fan-made mv slays all promotional works

After I read your summary, this author is definitely above Tong Hua in terms of torturing her characters. Oh my gosh, mentally impairment and then physical impairment in exchange. She is totally not my style!! This might be Yi Ling’s most tortured role to date.

HQG has the best of friends or else things would look worst (I ship all the guys with her already from your description, well, except her Master, Lol.) I’m with you there Shimo, a happy ending for all, please.

        • 31 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower’s fan-made mv slays all promotional works

The “trade” only happens in the 2nd edition and isn’t in the 3rd one, where she just stays mentally impaired at the end and BZH takes her away. (According to Guo Guo, she changed so many things in the new edition to reflect her growth as a writer and that the earlier edition was too fairytale-like and immature.) But let’s not forget that HQG got disfigured and made mute halfway through the novel and spends a lot of time in pain because of it. I totally agree with you – Guo Guo (the author) is even more drastic than Tong Hua when it comes to torturing her characters! BZH doesn’t fare too well either – cuz he got splashed with the same water that disfigured HQG and he has a scar that gives him pain all the time and doesn’t go away. The scar gets bigger the more he feels love for HQG and he keeps it hidden so that by the time it gets to near the end, the scar is so big it covers almost his entire inner forearm.

Judging by the official 15 minute trailer, I think the drama is more likely to be adapting the newest version of the book (the 3rd edition without all the happy endings). Of course, I’m only guessing because I haven’t seen the series yet but I recognize some lines the characters say that refer to events that are only in the 3rd edition and not the 2nd edition…

        • 31 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower’s fan-made mv slays all promotional works

I don’t know what fairytale she’s talking about where the characters get disfigured, tortured, beaten, and maimed. This author and her distorted vision of fairytale! LOL.

        • 31 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower’s fan-made mv slays all promotional works

And yes, basically HQG and BZH spend most of the story (often unintentionally) torturing each other πŸ˜›

I don’t know what fairytale she’s talking about where the characters get disfigured, tortured, beaten, and maimed. This author and her distorted vision of fairytale! LOL.

          100% AGREED!
If this is a fairytale, then it’s a very disturbing one…

It sure is less cheesy without the English voice over hehe. I love fan made vids, they are so much more passion that comes from fan than production companies that take on these projects. I am still on the fence with this series, probably watch it for Wallace.

    ^^ LOL, frea.

Costume and make-up are amazeballs! Why I go and click this when ignoring those others? Ah, yesh, the power of mute dubs. LOL! So beautiful! Great song selection too. 2015 is power packed!

  8. 31 thoughts on “The Journey of Flower’s fan-made mv slays all promotional works

If they decide to follow the original version and not the revised (aka Taiwanese version), hold on tight to your tissue boxes. Bear in mind this is produced by China and the Chinese love to turn on the waterworks! Who knows it might expand your vocabulary (not the good kind) as you pull out your hair in frustration! πŸ˜‰

Me thinks the author intended the first ending where everyone dies. It was a more logical ending considering all the torturing and unrequited love going around in the story but perhaps later revised and produced a second version to ‘force’ a happy ending to keep fans happy? For me, the first ending is the ending.

Yes, frea, I am waiting for condor. Loyal Louis Cha (Jin Yong) fan. No matter how many times and how many versions of his novels get turned into series, I will watch it. Me thinks his novels are the gold standard of what a wuxia should be like! He’s the chinese Tolkien. A legend! πŸ™‚
