Kappy: I know, I know, I hate Hunan too, making the work on my end that much harder. Why would they cut the perfectly distributed episodes anyway? And who is THAT person sitting in the editing room to cut out scenes of my cutie Eddie Peng?

Since it’s only around 35 episodes (same as BBJX), I guess I can upload both versions, ONLY UNCUT versions from now on.

Hu Ge and Eddie Peng are chosen perfectly for their roles. I still can’t believe they are the same age. Lol.

    Watched all four episodes – eddie is great, hu ge is lovely, it isn’t an idol character so its a great choice on his part. As for LSS, she’s a bit awkward acting cute. Not many can pull off cute naturally. There’s also some inconsistencies with her character – wolf girl acting prim and speaking like a lady so soon in ep3 already?

      i dunno, i feel like her character here is exactly the same as in BBJX. the hyper beginning and slowly become embroiled in angsty love…. LSS doesn’t exactly differentiate the way she plays each character very well…

        Yes, I agree. LSS’s character seems exactly the same as her character in BBJX 🙁 Even her eyeshadow is the same. I like Eddie’s and Hu Ge’s acting so far, but LSS really needs to up her game. Her acting is a bit unnatural, I just feel like she’s trying too hard…

    Chung: The ending for Xin Yue and WeiWuJi is a happy one, which is awesome because I love WWJ. However, though none of the main cast die, it’s also tied to a gut wrenching ending for poor Mo Xun (Jiu Ye) which I also love love love heaps! So by the end I had tears of joy and tears of sadness. I’m hoping the drama continues to stick closely to the storyline because it really is a good story.

    Although I am a die-hard fan of Hu Ge, for this series, I am shipping Eddie with LSS. Hu Ge’s character (Jiu Ye) in this series is too gloomy and serious against LSS’s mischievous and bright character (YJ) while Eddie’s character (Qu Bin) complements LSS’s character – their interactions and tricks against each other makes me smile – they’ll make a dynamic and loveable couple. Plus, it was very obvious how smitten Qu Bin is for YJ whereas Jiu Ye is playing the hot and cold game (which I don’t like). So, who’s with me, Team Eddie?? 🙂

      TEAM EDDIE FOR THE WIN!!! =D Love love their trickery scenes together. Initially I thought I would ship HG with LSS’s character too since they say opposites attract but he’s serious….which kinda kills all the fun between them. While Eddie is all for the FUN! 😛

    Kappy, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I don’t think the uncut versions of episodes 2 and 3 uploaded here are uncut. While watching, I noticed that they chopped off some scenes (rather sloppily as you can view a second of the segment that was discarded). For example, in episode 2, it cut of the scene of Wei Wuji looking for Xinyue.

      Since HunanTv bought the broadcasting rights for the dramas, they get to chop and slice the episodes as they see fit. Which is really hard to understand because why? WHY spent so much time editing out scenes when it’s perfect!? Excuses that they give out: to fit the airing schedule for their “other” dramas = shorter runs = satisfy the viewers (in some sense) + more money because they can air the next dramas faster. Since they are one of the biggest (could I say richest?) broadcasting companies in China, they kinda monopolize the game and a lot of dramas don’t get picked up, if not for them. Dramas that they produced (say, A Different Kind of Pretty Man, did NOT get edited. Food for thoughts ~~~)

      TV version = what they choose to air after editing the episodes, hence you see the yellow swirly Hunan Logo in the top left corner.

      Uncut version = when streaming sites (like qiyi) bought the rights. Since they are online, they can and often choose to air the full episodes. They are considered “smaller potatoes” in the industry, compared to monstrous company like Hunan. However, the downside is the quality and availability outside of China (hence people use plugins to overcome this obstacle.) 2nd option = fans obtaining the Dvds earlier than the rest – upload the episodes – I believe this happened to BBJX years ago.

      Hope this helps/clears up issues for fans. This is what I gather from reading since the yee days. If you have more info, feel free to chime in! 🙂

          Sometimes I wonder whether Hunantv dislikes Tong Hua or something. Her productions always get cut. The recently finished Legends of the Ancient Sword wasn’t cut. The run time was different but scenes weren’t cut. Something fishy is in the air!

    Millie, I think you watched the cut version… The one Kaptain post have the part where Wei Wujin goes to the restaurant and aked if anyone see a girl from Da Mao pass by, at first they didn’t, then the waiter sailed that couples of month ago, a girl pass by and order special dish wich costs money… As WW walk out he worry for XY cause she use all the money and wonder where she is….
    So the one that Kaptain post is the uncut version… Also if you all notice the 3 uncut version in cramped into 2 episodes of Hunan TV version….

      I downloaded the uncut version of episode 2 again to check and it’s still missing the part where Wuji was looking for Xinyue. From 25:21 – 25:26, there’s a 5 section glimpse of the cut scene. Maybe you thought I meant the streaming links? The streaming links are all good.

        the part that Wuji looking for Xinyue is at 28:00 into part 2 of the episode.. that part is when the snow is falling.. at that time XinYue is at Jui house.. it after the part that she dance in the snow and written down Jui Ye name in the snow.. so if you looking for that part it at 28:00 into part 2…

    Just want to say how much I love this drama so far and crossing my fingers that it will continue to improve. I’m in the camp where I think the 3 leads are fine in their role. I actually like that Hu Ge is playing against type and he really brings out the gentle sadness and conflicted love when he looks at LSS.

    Eddie is great so far. In my mind, WWJ is supposed to be like a mischievous man/boy general that’s cold to everyone but XY. You see that with his interaction with XY. Eddie is a little less convincing playing the cold type but we’ll see how he performs at court. Overall, I think Eddie captures the spirit of WWJ so far.

    LSS is ok as XY though some of the cutesy stuff is a little awkward. I don’t know if it’s because I’m using to her playing demure type. She has great chemistry with both men.

      i think its because LSS isnt’ a cute person in real life so when she’s required to do cute, it came off as awkward. lol. good thing is she does have chemistry with both actors so far… not sure about the angst-driven part of the show with hu ge yet…. its just sweet so far.

        I checked again with the downloaded uncut version of episode 2 and the streaming uncut version. In the streaming version, the scene that went from 27:53 to 29:03 (1m7s) was cut to 5s in the download version that went from 25:21 to 25:26.

      I didn’t download the real uncut version yet. I downloaded the uncut version posted here and checked it against the uncut streaming version and found that the download version was missing a scene. Sorry, I’m not clarifying things well today >.<

      Chung, you can always download directly from youtube using a firefox plugin. Or just stream the eng subbed version for now until an official HQ source comes out. The wait might not be short though.

      All these uncut/cut version business is killing my excitement for this drama. 🙁

    I am LOVING Eddie as WWJ right now he is so hooot.. After the announcement of the cast for the drama i was imagining Eddie as HQB the whole time i was reading the novel. And now.. Actually seeing him in action, he does not disqppoint!!!
    I am a little disappointed that they changed and added some characters though 🙁 I dont like that they made Fala’s character so hateful already and i do not like how the princess really does not like WWJ, when he was like a son to her in the novel… Not sure i like the addition of that Wang cousin either…. Meh.

      Hi hi Lisa, the episodes are up on Viki here (http://www.viki.com/tv/6900c-sound-of-the-desert-da-mo-yao) you will see that the episodes are added and are in the process of being subbed. It’s kind of a really busy time for the subbing team, what with all the exams and holidays and other commitments, so the subbing is kind of slow… However, you will get the episodes subbed sooner or later ^u^ As for why it’s not linked over here, I’m guessing Kappy has been a bit busy or decided that she’ll update the links after they’ve been subbed ^^
