SYTYCD Season 10: My favorite Boston Auditions!

The judges: Adam Shankman (guest judge), Mary Murphy, Nigel Lythgoe (Executive producer of this show)

Gotta support my city ya know! Who’s watching this show? So You Think You Can Dance is an American dance competition, and the show begins airing every summer. The winner is titled “America’s Favorite Dancer.” So you can see it’s not the best dancer, but you do need talents and star quality to win over America’s heart. I started to watch this show during high school but only committed myself to finished Season 4 (THE BEST EVERRR!! Katee♥Joshua) I really admire all the contestants, putting themselves out there for critiques – it’s not an easy thing to do, especially some are rejected on national TV. At the end of Vegas round, only the top 20 dancers are chosen to compete officially, week after week dancing to various styles. Those with the least number of votes, get eliminated. It’s heart-breaking and I never fail to get emotional when they bid goodbye with humility and honor intact.

This year, my professor coincidentally mentioned this show and I was intrigued to watch it again. Boston wasn’t my favorite city for auditions (Austin, TX, WOW!) but there were some amazing standout performances!

The girls this year are AMAZING. Stunning and talented. The guys are not lookers but equally talented as well.

John Tesoriero

Cute! His style reminds me of the “Monkey King” from the series Journey to the West. Amazing Beat boxer! Funny how I recognized him and giggled to myself. If you’re a commuter in the area, chances are you have met him. Nice guy.

Jason Kidd

Wicked performance! I really don’t know how dancers are able to move their bodies like that. So precise and smooth. He got a straight ticket to Vegas without a long complimentary speech from the judges.

Katlyn Rodriguez

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! Such a sweet story. Love it when siblings help each other out like this one above (and there were a few more similar stories in Boston). I was smiling throughout the routine, keeping my eyes on the sister but finding myself checking out the brother’s swift moves. The fact that he learned the moves in 3 hours is commendable and telling of a genius.

Just adore it when they were holding hands while listening to the judges’ comments. Aw. 🙂

Toshihiko Nakazawa

Video Gaming Dancer. I’m thoroughly speechless at his precision and creativity for this piece! Like the judges, I just didn’t want it to end. My favorite part is near the end, where his body was in spasm mode as the pulses went through from top to bottom. Amazing. It’s a piece of art! I was, however, surprised that he made it to Vegas because I’m not sure he could do other styles. Prove me wrong Toshi!

Kate Kapshandy

Dang! This woman is on FIRE! I’m having a big girl-crush on her. Just look at the way she strut across that stage! So light on her feet and the overwhelming air of confidence and charisma is tangible.

Anthony Savoy

I love him and his style. So calming and gentle. His humility really reaches out to you. I hope he makes it far into the competition. Top 20 material right here!

Auditions from other cities that I like (there were more but here’s a few):

James & Nick Aragon (The Ninja Twins)

MC: “So who’s older?”
Nick: “I’m 4 minutes older.”
James: “I kicked his ass out.”
Kap: “ROLFFFFFF!!”

Hilarious. These twins. Can they be my best friends? The age limit makes no sense. How did they make it onstage, passing the application process if the age limit is 30? Nonsense! But I like that they are graceful about the whole thing and was there to honor their late dance teacher. So Sweet.

Judges: “So why did your brother get fired as a server?”
James: “You really want to know? He was meant for greater things.”
Kap: “AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!”

Eric & Lorenzo Chapman & Choreo Round

Three brothers. I’m floored by their ability to glide across the floor and those effortless flips!! Flawless, light, and inspiring individuals.

i don’t watch or follow this show but OMGGGGGGGGGGG!!! the twins ARE HILARIOUS and ENTERTAINING!!! they should have their own talk show. i like how close they are and how they aren’t afraid to show their feelings to one another. that WAS SO SWEEET!!!

and the age thing is so weird. they made it up there. if they didn’t tell me i would think they’re younger than 32.

the video game guy is wicked awesome too!!

this post is random though!! dunno if other asian fans watch american shows like this!! so it’s nice to hear your pov. 🙂

This is me getting a break from Asian entertainment. It’s nice to enjoy the full screen in motion and not having to watch out for subtitles.

I didn’t expect this post to be popular anyway, they’re just my ramblings. Glad you enjoyed it! 😉
