[Recap] Can You Hear My Heart Ep. 7

Ah, while picking out the cover screencap, I see this one. I like it. It speaks for their relationship don’t you think? Jun Ha is always looking at mom, observing her actions, taking in her demeanor. While Dong Joo’s arm is like a bridge, connecting him with Jun Ha, a hyung he looks up to. I’m actually a bit worried, remember the phrase Jun Ha told Hyun Suk years ago? “If you die, take me with you!” The same phrase has been repeating itself 3 times already. No, I don’t want anyone to die, but once Jun Ha finds out the truth, he’s prepared to go as far as he can with her – to the pits of hell?

Photobucket
Jang Jun Ha (Old name: Bong Ma Ru) continues to stare right back at Woo Ri until she is distracted by Grandma. He turns off his phone and disappears. Kang Min Soo, the girl who wants to buy Young Gyu’s painting, is meeting with Hyun Suk about a new product. Suddenly, she gets a text from Dong Joo and hurries off to meet him.

Choi Jin Chul is investigating on Jang Jun Ha, but the only available information starts from high school and onwards.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Leaning against his parked car, Dong Joo is playing with a new application on his phone. It writes out the words he speaks, sorta like a speech-to-text kind of thing. I don’t know why he feels the need to do so in front of a cherry blossom. He’s already pretty to look at ALONE!

Photobucket
Woo Ri is still at the hospital looking for Dr. Jang Jun Ha. He appears beside her and refers her to another doctor, then walks away calmly. Oh yea, keep wearing that cold mask!

PhotobucketPhotobucket
In the doctor’s office, Grandma fails to do simple math problems and is likely to be in the early stages of degenerative alcohol dementia. Seung Chul whispers to Woo Ri about the expensive cost of one medical examination. Immediately, she argues with the financial clerk and hits her head in frustration. Jun Ha walks out to see her trying to bargain a discount but doesn’t do anything.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
It turns out that Min Soo is on the same team as Dong Joo. They have 2 missions: 1) Scout a new employee 2) Buy that picture from Bong Woo Ri. However, Dong Joo is irritated with Min Soo’s talkative personality so he leaves first. Jun Ha arrives and she shows him the clip of Woo Ri on that show earlier, looking for Ma Ru. I think seeing her cry strikes a chord in him. How desperate and heartbroken they were/are because of his missing.

Photobucket
Woo Ri brings Seung Chul to a spa. She introduces him to her Team Manager, hoping to get him a job. When he refuses to sell cars, Woo Ri threatens to tell his mom about his lies to scam her father. That shuts him up. As she exits, a phone call brightens up her face,Young Gyu’s, and the Lee’s. Ma Ru has returned??

Photobucket
Nope, it’s Dong Joo. He uses the application on his phone in order to hear Woo Ri’s voice. The girl is on a rampage screaming “Oppa! Oppa! Oppa” into the phone, thinking that he’s Ma Ru. Dong Joo recognizes her from a distance and breaks the news: “I’m not your oppa.”

PhotobucketPhotobucket
As expected, her face becomes solemn. Woo Ri asks for his name, and he replies, “Cha.Dong.Joo.” The name slowly sinks in and she mutters, “Pianist..” Yep! It’s your Sunday’s Piano Teacher! She continues, “Are you Cha Dong Joo from Wookyoung?” He can’t help but smile! Aw~

Quickly, Dong Joo denies. He’s here to buy the picture from her. Again, Woo Ri stands her ground and bids good bye. He, on the other hand, connects the dot and finally figures out the importance of “ant poop” in this oppa’s business. I like where this is going. So he knows who she is!

Photobucket
Woo Ri returns home to find a fake Ma Ru (she doesn’t know, but WE DO). Everyone is sobbing tears of happiness, only Seung Chul is watching him suspiciously. When the fake Ma Ru claims he misses Dad, Seung Chul scoffs, “When you’re broke, you miss people.” HAHAHA!

Young Gyiu gets home. He takes a closer look at the imposter and announces this is NOT Ma Ru. The fake Ma Ru, knowing that this family is not rich, takes the chance to run off.

Photobucket
Heartless-and-a-qualified-gold-digger Shin Ae creates a ruckus when she comes and finds out about the fake Ma Ru. She tells them to stop looking for him because Ma Ru is dead!

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Jun Ha is standing in front of the poster that his dad, Young Gyu, made. He doesn’t bat an eyelash but the impact is clearly written all over his face. Irritated, he tears down the poster, which is witnessed by Dong Joo. Dong Joo asks him about “earphones” & “ant poop” & “Little Mi Suk”, suggesting that he knows about his hyung’s past. Before Jun Ha could answer, Hyun Suk intervenes.

Photobucket
The reason why Hyun Suk calls both of them over is because she has bought a new house for Dong Joo. She gives him a gift – a watch, which also acts like a bell, informing him of guests, and other related things. Heck, I think I need one!

PhotobucketPhotobucket
After the quick housewarming party and Hyun Suk’s departure, Jun Ha continues his conversation with Dong Joo. He confesses that his family wasn’t dead – but Bong Ma Ru was. He is not related with Woo Ri and advises Dong Joo not to meet her. Dong Joo shakes his head, “You don’t, but I do have an affiliation with her!”

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Young Gyu bangs his head against the wall, trying to take all the blame, and Woo Ri follows suit. That constant noise wakes up the Lee family downstairs and they decide to help before the pressure pushes Woo Ri to run away from home. Seung Chul comforts Woo Ri claiming that he has 1,500,000 won to pay the medical bill. No, not real money. It’s the heart’s talk! While Mother Lee and Father Lee try to get Young Gyu drunk. Notice: Seung Chul’s pajamas has “Maru” printed all over it! heh!

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Not wanting Dong Joo’s hearing impaired issue to be found out, Jun Ha pleads his brother to not approach Woo Ri. Since her mother had the same disability, it wouldn’t take her long to figure it out. Dong Joo growls, he isn’t that easy of a target. That night, Jun Ha is staying over. This time, it’s him asking, “Do you love me?” to shut Dong Joo up. Seriously, what’s with these two grown up men needing declaration of love?

Photobucket
Morning arrives, and Dong Joo takes a walk around the botanical garden created by his mom. It’s a beautiful scene as Dong Joo creates sounds for the things he encounters.

Photobucket
Coincidentally, Woo Ri is substituting for Young Gyu at work. She sees Dong Joo from a distance and follows boldly behind him. He pokes fun at her hair clip from last time and leaves. Woo Ri smiles devilishly and calls Young Gyu.

Photobucket
Then we have a two-minute sequence of Grandma climbing down the stairs. She reaches the bottom and stands up to take a look at both direction, uncertainty blinks across her face. For this sequence, Grandma seems confused, ready to take on path of a different world. Brrrrrrrrrr! Is it just me?!

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Back to Dong Joo and Woo Ri, where the latter still accuses the former of pretending not to know her. She calls after him, revealing that she won’t call him “oppa” anymore but please stay and let dad see your face! Desperate, she hangs onto his sleeve. Young Gyu looks at Dong Joo, lifting his hand to touch and cover DJ’s face. Dong Joo is miffed and slaps the hand away which is when Young Gyu confirms he’s not Ma Ru.

DUN DUN DUN, the camera zooms in and we see Jun Ha, witnessing this whole scene. He becomes teary as Young Gyu describes his face in the way he memorizes it.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Alice: What’s this? Oh, my roof is leaking, that’s all. *wipes*

It’s interesting isn’t it? The one who can truly recognize Ma Ru with one look isn’t grandma or Woo Ri, but the simple-minded Young Gyu. Because Ma Ru always considered him as an embarrassment, Young Gyu can only look at his son at night, memorizing his whole face and structure. To me Ma Ru / Jun Ha isn’t a bad person. At least when he chased Hyun Suk’s car 16 years ago, he finally put away his pride and asked for help. The offer he received wasn’t what he expected but more like a dream came true. The dream that every kid wants – a normal family. Now, that he’s an adult, I expect maturity and consideration from him. To man up and protect HIS family, accept them for who they are and just smile because he has a caring family. The boy does need a lesson from Woo Ri!
